(Saiyuki) Dreams are All That's Left

The dream was filled with screaming, demons, and death. It woke Hakkai in the middle of the night and left him gasping for air, his heart pounding. Remembering the images stoked the pain and fear that lived in the deepest parts of his soul. And yet, he still had to smile. For one brief moment he had been able to see Kanan and hold her in his arms even if it was only in a dream.
