(Strachey Mysteries) Change of Shift
The sun was over the tops of the trees, lightening the sky when Donald turned his key in the lock of the house on Crowe street. Inside was dark and warm and Donald considered kicking off his shoes and crawling into bed, but he was wide awake. Timmy had a big meeting later on in the day and Donald hated the thought of waking his husband up before his alarm did its dark deed for the day.
By passing the stairs, Donald made his way into the kitchen. He filled the coffee maker and set it to delay so the rich aroma would just be starting to fill the house when Timmy awoke. Next he rummaged through the fridge, pulling out the makings for omelets. Usually Timmy started his day with steel cut oatmeal, but Donald was willing to bet Timmy would make an exception if the food was handed to him, hot and ready to eat.
It wasn't often that their comings and going coincided well enough tor a sit down breakfast and Donald was going to make the most of it.
