Once again, you heard Eddie talking to someone. His voice was low and muffled through the closed door of the bathroom but you were sure to hear him saying 'no, I can't tell them about you!' and 'if they find out about you, they will leave'.
You dated Eddie just for a few weeks but you already got feelings for this crazy but adorable guy. This was the reason why it shot a pain through your heart that he was maybe seeing someone else. None of you had made any commitments to each other but still...
You knew yourself good enough to know that you wanted honesty even in the beginning. You were cool with a lot of things as long as you knew what got played with you. Therefore, you made a decision while toweling your hands.
As you left the bathroom to join Eddie again in your living room, you caught him talking to someone even if there was no one else. You thought about a call but he wasn't even holding his smartphone.
"Eddie?", you asked carefully, feeling bad instantly as you saw how he jumped by surprise.
"YN, hey...", he said, his voice shaken by surprise and fear of what you might have heard.
"Hey, so... Alright, I... just be honest. Do you see someone else next to me? I mean, it's okay but I would like to know that.", you said straight, knowing exactly what your worth was.
Eddie, who was already sweating, looked shocked at you, "No! No, no, no! I don't see anyone else. Why would you think that?", he asked with an insecure smile.
"Because I hear you talking to someone sometimes. I hear you arguing on the phone or stuff.", you said right away.
Tell them about us!
"No!", Eddie hissed.
Surprised, you raised your brows, "No? But I heard you talking-"
"No, the 'no' wasn't for you! I- I mean... Uhh!", Eddie hurried to explain but stopped himself helplessly.
"Eddie, whatever it is, you can tell me about it.", you tried more carefully, searching for an easy way out for Eddie.
Tell them!
"I can't.", Eddie hissed.
"Why not?", you asked, now, even crossing your arms over your chest.
Yeah, Eddie, why not?
"Because... Because...", Eddie said nervously and searched for an answer. He liked you. A lot. Since Anne had left him, you had been the first who could take his mind off of things. He enjoyed your presence, your light character. You were smart, sweet, caring... everything he needed. Everything he wanted.
"Eddie, calm down. It's okay. You don't have to explain anything. I just... I start to like you and I... I really would like to trust you. Because you can trust me.", you said softly, reaching out for him.
They can trust us! We can trust them! Tell them that!
"N-no...", Eddie hissed low but as he saw your glance, he knew he had done something wrong.
Shocked, you stepped back, not expecting this kind of reaction, "Oh, I- I see... I'm sorry to hear that.", you breathed disappointed, stepping away to aim for the kitchen. You needed a bit of space to think about your next step.
Stop them! They like us! Don't let them walk away like that! You should start to trust people! Start with them! They're amazing and sweet! You like them!
"YN, wait, please.", Eddie called out. As you stopped, turning back to him, he released his breath, "The thing is... Look, you can trust me. I swear. But there's something I carry with me and I'm not sure how you will react if you find out about it.", he explained but even for himself it sounded more confusing than helpful.
Questioningly, you tilted your head with a frown, "You mean something like having a kid? I'm cool with that.", you admitted.
Look! They're cool with me!
"No, I don't have a kid. Rather, something else.", Eddie tried it again, ignoring Venom's plea to tell you more so you would understand.
"Something...else? Eddie, please...", you sighed. Yes, Eddie was always a bit strange and different but he was never stumbling over his own tongue like that before.
"Alright, I will tell you about it but you have to promise me, please don't scream.", Eddie begged but saw your confusion.
"Scream? Why should I scream-", you asked but stopped. Something black appeared on Eddie's shoulder. First, you thought something had dripped from your ceiling but before you could check it, the spot became bigger until Eddie's whole left shoulder was covered with an undefined, black mass that looked like claws.
You stepped forward to take a closer look but then, the mass became more and more, even removed itself from Eddie until another head appeared next to Eddie's head. It was black like licorice and glistening like water. The eyes were milky white and the mouth contained a lot of sharp, dangerous teeth.
Eddie watched how you stared at him and Venom. Of course, you were speechless. Of course, you were staring at him with big eyes. He wasn't surprised. You were shocked and he expected you to faint right on the spot. He wouldn't blame you for that. The only thing he felt sorry was to lose you because he started to like you as well-
"Wha- who are you?", you asked slowly, stepping closer and carefully touching Venom's face, even cupping it with your hand, "Wow, you're so cold.", you stated.
"Aren't you afraid?", Eddie asked, shocked, watching you with big eyes.
You shook your head, "Afraid? No, why? He's... He's beautiful. Oh, are you even a 'he'?"
"My name's Venom.", he said proudly, enclosing your hand a bit with himself before he retreated the blackness again from your skin.
You chuckled as it even tickled on your hand, "Nice to meet you, Venom. So, you were with us all the time...during our dates?"
"Yes, I convinced Eddie to say yes to your invitation.", he admitted with a huge, toothy grin.
"I'm glad you did that.", you said with a soft smile.
"Uhm, guys, I'm here too.", Eddie said and searched for your attention.
Finally, you could draw your eyes away from Venom to look at Eddie, "I get it why you haven't told me about him earlier. Trust me, your...secret...is safe with me. And now, I wanna hear anything about the two of you."
"I'm the cool one.", Venom said boastfully and was pleased to hear you laugh, "In fact, you were dating me. I told Eddie how he should dress and talk with you."
"Hey! That's not true!", Eddie fired back, looking annoyed at Venom.
"It's true! Without me, you would still have no clue how to talk with YN.", Venom hissed, letting his long tongue slide in front of Eddie's face.
"Without you, I wouldn't even have to have this kind of conversation-"
"Yes, because your life would still be boring!", Venom hissed back.
"Boring? Boring?? I think the word you're searching is normal!", Eddie said serious, staring right into the milky eyes of the alien symbiont.
Venom considered the next answer for a moment, "No, no, I stick with boring. You're not very tempting-"
"Guys, please, don't fight.", you said amused but guided Eddie to the couch and within seconds, your life had changed in a way you never had expected. Now, you just didn't have a new boyfriend, you also got a new friend delivered straight to your home: Venom.
