“Have you seen my sister?”

Yelena’s not waiting for Natalia like she usually is on the tarmac. Natalia asked the soldier that helped them land the plane and she receives a blank look in return.

“You know. My-- Black Widow’s kid?” Natalia lets out a sigh and recognition sparks in his eyes.

“Ah. Maria’s Shadow.” He nods his head. “She’s with the Director. Of course, she picks the boss and boss’s boss to hang around.”

Natalia had told Yelena months ago that she was to tell Natalia if the Director even acted like General Dreykov. While Yelena had sworn out loud that she understood, Natalia still feels suspicious.

The Director had no reason to meet with Yelena. Yelena wouldn’t voluntarily approach authority figures like that, not unless there was something wrong or he had made her a promise in exchange for something else.

Natalia finds her linger just outside the Director’s office, just leaving the room. “Yelena!”

Yelena turns toward her and smiles. “Natalia.” She greets. “You’re back?” She glances at a clock nearby. “Oh.”

That night, as they change for bed, Natalia stops Yelena to look her over. Yelena lets her, subjecting herself to Natalia’s hands sliding down her bare stomach to search for marks. Natalia pays attention to Yelena’s thighs and her knees. There are no red marks or bruising but it doesn’t soothe Natalia like it should.

Natalia finally asked what she did with the Director.

“I’m hanging out with Danvers,” Yelena replies, tugging her pajamas on. Her answer is a lie, Natalia knows that. Carol Danvers left the facility a week ago. She herself told Natalia that she travels a lot and rarely visited but would try to swing by more often.

Natalia wonders what the Director did or said that made Yelena feel the need to lie. Natalia debates about taking it to Maria or to Bobbi. They were supposed to look after her while Natalia was gone.

Yelena keeps sneaking off to the Director's office. Natalia has seen it herself and she dared to mention it to Clint.

Clint shrugs it off so Natalia mentions it to Coulson.

“Yeah, she likes to shadow them,” He chuckles as if he doesn’t see a problem with Yelena being around the Director.

Natalia doesn’t know what to do. Yelena keeps going to the Director's office and doesn’t tell Natalia anything. Natalia will ask and the same time, Yelena uses the same excuse.

“I’m seeing Danvers,” She insists but she will not look Natalia in the eye, the same tell that she had when they were kids. Yelena only did it with Natalia.

Natalia finally confronts the Director himself. He seems surprised to see her in his office. “What can I do for you, Romanov?” He questioned.

“What are you doing with my sister?” Natalia demands, even though she is in no place to give orders. She could very well void any contract she made with them guaranteeing her sister’s protection and safety.

Director Fury leans back in his chair, pressing the tips of his fingers together. “You’ll have to be more specific, Romanov.”

“My sister! What are you doing with my sister!” Natalia tilts her head to the side, eyeing him. “She’s only seventeen.”

He frowns. “I understand that.” He said. “Why are you in my office, Romanov?”

Natalia approached his desk. “I have more experience. I’m older. I’m so much better than her,” She leans over his desk, giving him an ample view of her breasts. “You won’t regret it.”

Director Fury eyed her before raising an eyebrow. “Are you propositioning me for sex, Agent Romanov?”

It feels like a trap to answer him but Natalia does anyway. “I can make you feel good.” She purrs.

Director Fury points at the chair in front of his desk. “Sit.” His voice was firm and his whole reaction confused Natalia.

Natalia sits, though.

Director Fury picks up his phone and dials a number, pulling it to his ear. “Hill.” He greets. “Get Agent Morse and Rookie Agent Belova and come to my office, stat.”

Natalia can’t hear the reply but Director Fury hangs up without another word. He glances up at her as he replaces the phone in its spot.

Director Fury then pulls a spiral-bound book out of his desk drawer and slides it across the desk. “Turn to page 55.”

Natalia raised an eyebrow, reaching out to take it. The front page tells her that it is SHIELD’s Rules and Guidelines.

Natalia flips open the book to the right page and waits for further instructions.

“Read it aloud until I stop you,” Director Fury orders.

Natalia starts to read about workplace policies regarding relationships at work. He doesn’t stop her when she finishes the first page so she continues on to the next.

A brisk knock on the door interrupts her and Director Fury calls out for them to enter.

Maria enters, Bobbi and Yelena following behind her. Maria glances at Natalia in surprise before peering at Director Fury. “You called for us?”

“You and Agent Morse will be sitting Agent Romanov and Rookie Agent Belova down and talking to them about the importance of consent, the age of consent, and rape.” Director Fury tells Maria. The surprise that flashes across Maria’s face isn’t hidden.

“What brought this on, sir?” Bobbi spoke up and Director Fury glances at Yelena.

“Rookie Agent Belova, have you and I engaged in an inappropriate relationship while you have been in my presence?” He inquired and Yelena goes still, wide-eyed at the sudden question.

“No sir?” It sounds like a question, like she doesn’t know what the right answer is. She’s scanning for clues as to what she should say.

“Have I touched you inappropriately or made sexual advances toward you?” Director Fury continues. Yelena’s shrinking in on herself, confusion on her face.

“No. I--” She peers at Natalia. “No…”

Director Fury nods at Natalia before he dismissed them, not accepting further questions.

Maria and Bobbi clearly have them but know not to argue the dismissal. “Let’s head to my office.” Maria tells them and the three girls trail after her. Maria takes them to her office and locks the door behind her. She points at the couch and tells the sisters to sit down.

Yelena doesn’t know what’s going on and Natalia feels bad for dragging her into this. She’s still not entirely convinced that Yelena or the Director was telling the truth but she settles down, letting Yelena sit directly next to her so that their legs and hips were pressed together.

“Right…” Maria stands in front of them with Bobbi. “Let’s make this quick. What do you two know about consent?”

She’s met with two blank stares. Yelena glances up at Natalia to search for the right answer.

“Anybody?” Maria prompts, her tone changing to concern. “Yelena? Natalia?”

“What about the age of consent? What is it?” Bobbi questioned and the room was once again quiet.

“Fucking hell…” Maria murmurs under her breath before dragging her office chair around her desk to position it in front of them and takes a seat, Bobbi taking a seat on the other side of Yelena.

The four of them settle down for a very long talk.
