Lets get this Show On The Road!
September 13th
Monday
“Tony we do not need a toaster”
“I think a toaster would be very useful”
“We have been talking about this all weekend we don't need one”
Tony scoffed, “You just don't see the potential”
“Of a toaster.” Rhodey deadpanned
“Yes!”
With a sigh Rhodey pulled his jacket on a grabbed his backpack.
“You leaving already?” Tony asked
“Yes I actually want to eat breakfast” he said leaving the room
“This is why we need a toaster!” Tony called before slumping back on the wall.
He could go eat breakfast. But he wasn’t really a breakfast person. He would rather eat a good lunch or dinner than a “filling breakfast”.
Pulling out his schedule, he had all the same classes today he had on Friday. English, Chemistry, Debate, his free period and History. Tomorrow would be nice. Different classes.
What time was it. Rhodey said he didn’t want to miss breakfast but he’s also a punctual person sooo.
He needed a clock. Why didn’t he pack a clock? Eh he could make one, they aren't that hard or he could buy one. Either way they needed a clock cause heaven forbid they have their phone on them.
They had that club meeting today right. That would be fun, it was absolutely entertaining last time.
They were doing the whole scouting(?) idea Bruce came up with today. No wait, that was tomorrow or all week. No today they were going to discuss who was going where.
After that maybe he could get Bruce and finish the toaster. He wanted to finish over the weekend, and he got pretty close. The power source is almost done so that was great.
Standing up Tony grabbed his backpack and left the room. Breakfast should be over soon. Hopefully.
The dorm was pretty empty, looks like everyone already left.
Walking to the building, it was still pretty dark. Not like dark dark, but just dark. The yay's of it still being like summer. It wasn’t even September yet. It’ll be a good month until the sun actually rises at this time.
Much different than public school. Even if he was only in it for one year.
Stopping at the diverge in paths Tony wondered if he was allowed to just go wait in the classroom. There was no point for him to go in the cafeteria and he would rather just wait in the classroom instead.
Shrugging Tony took the path towards the school.
The doors were unlocked so Tony just assumed he could enter and made his way to his class, which was located on the first floor. The classroom was the kind you would see in movies with the seats in rows each row a step above the next. It basically had to be on the first floor, well it at least made sense to be on the first floor.
Walking in, Mr. Henyerd greeted Tony and said something about being early to class.
Tony didn’t really care about what he had to say.
Scanning the room deciding where he wanted to sit, a smirk made its way to his face when Tony saw the familiar red hair.
“Natasha, do you mind if I sit here.” It wasn’t a question as Tony slid into the row next to her.
“What are you doing here so early? I would assume your eating breakfast right now” Natasha mused
“Same could be said for you”
She rolled her eyes and went back to the book she was reading.
“Soooo, whatcha readin?” He asked scooching closer, to which she moved away.
“To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee.”
“Hmm, interesting, what's it about”
She ignored him and continued reading.
Way to damper the mood.
Sitting back Tony stared at the ceiling. If the rest of the day was going to be like this than Tony was going to have a really good day.
“Stark, do you want to pass out a dictionary to all the seats” Mr. Henyerd asked
With a sigh, Tony slumped up and headed to the large bookshelf in the back of the room, and grabbed as many books he could carry and passed them around to empty seats.
It took a couple trips. When he got to their seats Natasha made a comment on how he should work out more so he could carry more dictionaries. He just rolled his eyes at her and continued passing them out.
When the bell rang and students started coming in Tony was already back in his seat and just reading the dictionary out of pure boredom.
Class went by and the teacher wanted them to find one word per letter of the alphabet to write the meaning, of.
It was one of those pointlessly long assignments that were just there to be long.
Chemistry was boring, he knew nobody in that class. He's pretty sure that the next class he has with someone he knows is History, and that's with Rhodey, so he had a long while to wait.
__
He didn't quite understand why they had a free period. He wasn't complaining, it was a free period to do whatever he wanted, but logically it made no sense.
Tony was in one of those free periods right now. It was the after lunch one. He was going to hang out with Rhodey but he was in the library studying for something. Tony wasn't too sure, what he was studying or just why he was studying. It was the second day of school what could he possibly need to study for.
Rhodey just confused him sometimes.
He could go and finish the toaster. That would be a productive use of his time.
Making his way to the labs, Bruce turned the corner and Tony sighed in relief and made his way over to Bruce.
“Hey!”
“Oh, hey”
“Where are you headed?” Tony asked
Bruce looked a bit more on the nervous side than usual but maybe it was just his classes.
“To the mail pick-up. Apparently I have some mail.”
Mail. Makes sense. Bruce probably had his parents at home who cared about him enough to send mail.
“Well, I hope you enjoy your mail”
Bruce let out a nervous chuckle and continued down the hall past Tony.
Tony shrugged, and also continued down the hall. Maybe mail was nerve wracking. Tony always assumed that getting mail would be exciting but maybe it wasn't.
Eh.
__
Once again, Tony found himself sitting on two desks in the very oddly put together classroom.
Like last time it was Tony and Natasha who arrived first but Steve arrived soon after, sitting on the floor in a small corner formed by the desks, instead of the desk he was sitting at last time.
Natasha was just sitting in the spinnhair rocking back and forth as time went on.
Nobody was really in the mood to talk, so Tony kept his mouth shut and waited silently like the others.
Everyone eventually arrived and Thor wasn't extremely late like last time. So now the fun stuff started.
“So how is everyone's day going?” Tony asked
There was a pause before Natasha let out an audible groan, while Clint wore an amused smirk on his face.
“Is that really our main focus of topic here?” Steve deadpanned
“I think it's a wonderful idea to get to know our fellow club members see how they're doing” Thor interjected
“See, Thor gets the idea”
“But I think we should focus on the reason we´re all here” He added, and Tony let out a betrayed gasp
“Yes. Why are we here right now”
Natasha spun her chair to face the room
“We were going to parts of the school to watch over and see what area’s need to be cleaned the most”
“Yes, since we are the Service Club the best way to start is to help out the janitor and do some basic community service.” Thor explained
“Cool. I call doing the sport and recreational areas” Clint said, spinning a pencil between his fingers.
On the board Natasha used one of the pieces of chalk and wrote down what Clint would be doing.
“I don't mind hanging around the middle-school” Bruce mumbled
“Okay, great start you two. I call the main school building” Tony announced, the sound of chalk following shortly
“I can take dorms” Thor suggested with a shrug "Both dorms" adding quickly
"I'll do the warehouse."
Everyone collectively looked to Natasha who was finishing writing out what she had. There wasn’t really anywhere else Tony could think of that she could watch, but maybe she had some sort of idea.
“What’re you gonna do Nat?” Clint asked
“I’ll just make my way around the campus throughout the week.”
So she did have a master plan. Okay.
Thor shrugged deciding that was a fine answer.
And so they were left with a full chalkboard and nothing else to discuss.
“Well, Ima go since it looks like we’re pretty much done here, yea?”
Natasha shrugged and the rest of them collectively started getting up, so Tony took his cue to leave.
