“Your dad sucks.”

“Get with the times Honeybear, we've known that since elementary.” Tony stated handing a balled-up button up to his friend who in turn dropped it into a suitcase.

“And hey, he was nice enough to pay for you to go as well. Along with bribing them to get us in the same dorm” Tony handed him another shirt

“At least he can do one good thing.” Rhodey mumbled grabbing another shirt, “Do you need this many shirts?”

“Yes. Duh.”

Flopping over on his stripped bed, Tony sighed.

If you don't wanna take care of your child just send em’ off to boarding school! Apparently. According to Howard Stark. But hey, he was also incredibly smart, so good excuse to the public. Go to a rich boarding school to get good education.

“Just take this as a good chance to get away from him. If your off in a boarding school out in a small town in the middle of nowhere he won't bother to visit.” Rhodey offered

“Nah he’s too busy to talk to me now what makes ya think he’s gonna make time to visit me then.” Tony said

“True.”

AC/DC played in the background and Tony handed him another shirt. Only to get it thrown at his face.

“Too many shirts. It’s unneeded.”

“Never.”

There was a polite knock on his door. Sitting up, “Yes?” he asked

“We’re leaving in a couple of minutes.” Jarvis’s muffled voice supplied.

“Ok.” Tony replied

They sat there in silence for a bit, just his music playing in the background.

“We should go” Tony said

Sitting up, he turned off his music and grabbed his suitcase.

“Ok cut the dower mood. Let’s go honeybear off to school!”

“It’s gonna be my first time in your jet.” Rhodey added, trailing behind him down the stairs

“Get used to it.”

Sliding his sunglasses down Tony stepped out of the car.

“I have arrived everybody out of the way.” Tony called out, “I am an eccentric billionaire. You must pay attention to my every move and presence.”

Glancing back at Rhodey he smiled.

“You are way too much sometimes” Rhodey sighed. But he was unable to mask the enjoyment in his voice

“And nobody else is here to see.”

Looking back at the empty courtyard Tony couldn’t help but laugh to himself. “Well, I have to practice before I actually do it in front of a big crowd.”

Turning around on his heel Tony flipped the sunglasses up, “You think Howard was born with his flare?”

“Yes.”

Clicking his tongue Tony turned back to the courtyard. It had been what? The flight had been around seven and a half hours plus the drive which was 2 hours. Tony was fucking hungry.

“Here are your bags, and please, try not to cause too much trouble.”

Jarvis started pulling their suitcases out of the trunk. Tony’s was a large black one, while Rhodey had a medium blue one.

“You know I'll keep him in check.” Rhodey reassured.

“I know you’ll do your best”

“Ok enough chit-chat you two. C’mon Rhodes I'm hungry and you should be too. It’s been what two hours since we last ate.”

“Sure Tony.”

Once Jarvis drive away, they started off for the main building? Tony assumed it was the main building. Like it was the first building you saw and it was also just right there.

If it isn’t the main building then they should really think about better layout cause that's misleading.

Entering the building, it was a large open room tables littered around. To his left was what looked to be where you would serve yourself food, like a school cafeteria kinda or a buffet. And there was another doorway that looked to lead back outside.

At a round table sat an older looking woman and two young girls who were standing by her.

"Thank you Miss Shannon!"

"Of course girls. Oh! Are you two new?" She greeted looking at them.

Walking over to her, “Yes, we’re new, James Rhodes, and that’s Tony Stark.” Rhodey greeted

The lady pulled out a clipboard (just out of nowhere) and started looking through papers.

“No offense but wouldn’t a computer be more efficient?” Tony asked, raising an eyebrow slightly.

“Yes they are much more efficient, we actually just upgraded from our old model. So the new models should be arriving soon- Ah! Tony Stark and James Rhodes both of you are freshmen right?” Miss Shanon asked looking back up at them

They both nodded and she looked pleased.

“All right, dorms will be off to your right. You guys are in building B, and inside there should be Jameson to give you your room keys."

“Yea, anywhere we can get some food?” Tony asked

"Yes! We're actually in the dining hall right now. If you just head over there you can find some food. There are also kitchens in the dorms that will have unprepared food."

Tony nodded looking over to what he successfully assumed was an area to get food and started walking off. Hearing Rhodey thanking the lady.

“Maybe this place won't be that bad.”

"What the fuck"

"Honey-"

"No. What. The. Actual. Fuck!?" Clint exclaimed

He was looking at his dad who was still holding his phone looking rather bored.

"You heard me. Now go pack. Your leaving tomorrow."

Clint wasn't going to yell at his dad, but damn he really fuckin wanted to tell the man how much of a fucking prick and asshole he was.

All the summer. All fucking summer his parents kept away the fact that they were going to send him off too a boarding school until today!? The day before he was leaving!

Glancing at his mom, who looked somewhat guilty for the exchange. He huffed and stomped up the stairs. His half eaten dinner still on the table.

And what was his fathers half assed excuse to send him off?

Discipline problems.

Fuck him. He just didn't want to properly take care of his child. And somehow his mother, just let him do it.

Slamming his door shut, he pounded his fist against the wall.

“DON'T YOU SLAM THE DOOR!” his father yelled

“YEA WHATEVER!” He yelled back

A spike of adrenaline ran through him, hearing the music in his ears and not his fathers.

Pulling a duffel bag out from under his bed Clint started packing his stuff. Which wasn’t much. Just the bare minimum. Which was all he had.

September 8th

Wednesday

He didn't wake up until 9, breakfast still sitting on the counter cold. His dad was already gone for work (thankfully), and his mom had tried to get him to do his chores for today but he didn't.

His bus would be arriving soon. He had no want to do his chores if he's leaving in just a few hours.

Instead he popped in his earbuds, and practiced shooting his bow for a while before his mom told him to head for the bus stop.

There was no goodbye. From him at least. She had tried to hug him goodbye with a warm smile on here face, but Clint pushed away from her and just carried his duffle bag to the stop.

Walking into the bus was uncomfortable. His bag bumping into almost every chair and he wanted to make it fucking stop cause the kid would either look at him annoyed or look at him judgingly.

Finding an un-full seat didn’t take too long. It was next to some kid who was sleeping against the window. His bag was placed on the seat so Clint carefully moved it.

Popping his earbuds into his ears he lay back and stared at the ceiling. Would they allow him to send letters? They should. This place was meant to be some fancy boarding school. He should be able to send letters.

Sometime throughout the ride, the kid sitting next to him. His glasses almost fell off. So he had to fix them so they wouldn’t fall. Because glasses were expensive, and it would be a waste of money if they broke.

More time passes. Clint wasn’t sure how long it had been. Just long expansive driving and the occasional stop for some kids.

Some long expanse of time later and the kid beside him finally woke up. Which was good cause his glasses were falling again and he was not going to move them back this time.

It was incredibly awkward for a few moments. It really looked like he wanted to say hi, but didn’t. And Clint really hoped he didn’t say hi cause it looked like he was going to.

But the bus stopped just in time and he did not say hi. To Clint's relief.

“OK everyone, we're here. Please exit the bus and wait for further instruction.” The man at the front called out.

Other kids started standing up. So Clint stood up, and he remembered how much he hated the duffel bag. But it wasn’t as frustrating this time cause there were no kids to look at him.

Soon enough the man started calling off names. It seemed he was going alphabetically.

“Betty Archer... Carrie Austin... Bruce Banner... Anthony Barn.”

“Clint Barton?”

“Here.”

The tour was boring. And the food was kinda shit. But Clint never liked mac’n cheese anyways.

So they left off in the dorms.

"Dorms! We'll let you guys explore the dorms yourselves, but I want to state dorm rules and where you can find us teachers." Mr. Rose started, "As you all know you have already been picked out a dorm and keys will be passed out momentarily."

"Curfew will be at 11pm and on school days we expect you all to be awake and getting ready at 7:20am. The dorm has its own study area and kitchen. Kitchen will be open from 12:15-10:20pm. And you can find us teachers in the staff hall of the dorm. Now we expect you all to be respectful to us the Teachers, and your peers. Rude behavior of any kind will not be tolerated"

And with that Mr. Rose dismissed them to adjust to their rooms.

Looking at his key, he headed upstairs. It took a while until Clint found his room. It was at the end of one of the halls with a locked double door across from it.

Unlocking the door, the room was pretty standard. As he started to unpack another kid entered the room.

“Oh- Um hi!” The kid stuttered

“Um, hi…”

"Your my roommate?" The boy asked

"Well is your name Scott?"

The boy, Scott smiled and set his stuff down on the empty bed.

"Yes my name the names Scott, and I'm guessing your Clint"

Clint nodded, and the boy put his hand out, so he grabbed it and shook it.

Scott beamed and turned back to unpack his stuff.

This is gonna be a long year. Clint thought to himself as he turned back to his stuff.
