Chapter 18
When Friday said those words, Carol thought she miss heard. So she asked her to repeat that again and as it turns out… she didn’t miss heard.
Friday really said “You are going on Vacation! Just you and Boss in Bahamas” in her overjoyed voice.
Apparently it was Maria Stark’s personal favorite place on the entire world that Tony kept up running.
Carol knew that she isn’t going to get out of this one so she agreed.
She also wants to go because, she never actually was in Bahamas or anywhere else on Earth just for Vacation.
She isn’t in that big of a denial about her feelings like Friday probably believes.
She knows that she likes Tony as more then a friend. She is just hesitant, because it is a long time since she had these kind of feelings, and it didn’t end up good for her back then.
She also isn’t sure how Tony feels…
It’s true that she is the one that “ran” out of the bed when they woke up. It was just awkward situation…
Well… as if the flight to Bahamas wasn’t awkward.
They decided to travel like normal people and Tony Stark might look young, but he is still recognizable figure. So, as master of a disguise that he is… he masked him self with stupid hat and sunglasses…
He also didn’t want Carol to be left out… So he, against her protest, made her wear similar hat to his own, at lest inside the plane.
The flight was long… Tony actually managed to sleep during most of it. So Carol may or may not have cheated with wearing that stupid hat.
She also totally didn’t hold his hand as he slept peacefully.
When they finally get out of the plane, Tony looked like he is about to kiss the ground. With Carol found funny, considering he likes to fly in Iron tin can.
Of course there was an Audi R8 waiting for them…
Tony noticed Carol’s raised eyebrow at him as they walked closer to the car, but he just winked at her and got inside. Carol shook her head and signed with a smile on her face.
So much for keeping the low profile…
She sits in and Tony lowers the roof of the car, turning it into cabriolet. He then turns to Carol and hands her sunglasses, and grins from an ear to ear. Carol places the sunglasses on and watches him enjoy the sound of the engine of the car with a smile.
They are soon on their ride to the Mansion and Carol uses this time to inspect her surroundings. Bahamas are truly beautiful, it makes her wonder, what else is there on Earth… Will she be able to visit more places like this?
She soon finds herself looking at the man next to her and grinning widely. When he looks over at her, he quickly returns her grin with one of his own.
Without warning, Tony presses harder on the gas and they speed down the road, wind whipping around them. He lets out a 'whoop' of excitement and Carol laughs loudly at his antics.
They both enjoys this moment.
When they reach the mansion, Carol is blown away.
Friday told her that the mansion was fully design by Maria Stark and that Tony later made some alterations to it, but never actually went there.
She looks over at Tony, who is also looking at the house, but with hint of nostalgia and… sadness in his eyes.
He quickly collects himself and asks Carol to go inside and look around, while he takes their suitcases and other things inside.
Normally, Carol would have insisted that she would help him, but he still has that sad expression in his eyes. So she nods and goes in.
Carol must admit, that Tony’s mom had awesome taste. The house looks so cozy and homey…
There are some pictures on the walls of what Carol suspects are photos of Starks back when Tony was just a baby.
They looked so happy…
What happened to their family… is truly a tragedy.
Carol jumps a little when Tony comes to stand besides her, she didn’t even hear him come inside. He is staring at the picture that Carol was looking at and he picks it up, looking at it with strange expression.
“This is Edwin Jarvis and his wife Ana” Tony says, pointing at the man who looks like older Vision and woman beside him.
“They were practically my other parents. They raised me alongside my mom”
Carol notices that he doesn’t mention his dad, but doesn’t say anything. Waiting for him to say what he has to say.
“This is my mom” Tony says with a soft smile, pointing at the woman who is smiling brightly and holding Baby Tony’s finger
“And that’s my Dad” Tony says, while his smile drops from his face and his expression turns to regretful one.
Carol looks at the photo closer and sees Howard Stark holding Baby Tony, both grinning from ear to ear, clearly happy.
She heard about Howard Stark. He was supposedly cold towards his Son, always pushing him away… and she can’t imagine this man from the picture doing something like that..
“I don’t actually remember him… like this.” Tony whispers and places the photo down on it’s original place.
He looks haunted, but quickly shakes it off and turns to Carol with a smirk
“So did you pick up a room for yourself already?”
“No… I was waiting for you to give me the tour” Carol answers mirroring his smirk.
Tony hold his hand out with seductive grin “As you wish Captain Danvers.”
She laughs and takes his hand, allowing him to show her the Mansion.
