Chapter 9
Carol’s head hurts.
Her cuts and bruises are already healing thanks to her powers, but she has this terrible headache that wont go away.
Fury’s Agents already tried to interrogate her about what she found or what happened, but Carol doesn’t remember anything…
She remembers that she was in New Orleans, searching for MODOK. She thought that she found something, but then something got a jump on her and simply knocked her out.
That’s another thing that is bugging her…
She is getting more and more tired while using her powers. She can also feel herself growing weaker and weaker.
It terrifies her… what if she looses her powers completely?
Would that be really a bad thing?
She gained these powers while she was still young and ever since then she was always fighting.
Doesn’t she deserve a break? A chance at normal life?
Her mind wonders to the man that freed her from captivity. Tony Stark.
Of course she heard about him before. Who didn’t ?
She never expected someone like him to become Superhero. Those Suits really are beautiful peace of art.
She feels for him. Everybody does these days… Iron Man was betrayed by his friends and left in cold, completely defenseless.
There are rumors about his injuries, but nothing confirmed.
But Carol suspects he did something to himself considering he didn’t look like a man in his forties… Another thing they have in common.
Speaking of the Devil…
Tony Stark enters the room and when he sees she is awake he slightly smirks and starts walking closer to her.
“Morning Space Face, slept well?”
Carol chuckles at the Nickname. She immediately understands what he is trying to do.
He is trying to ease some tension with Jokes and Nicknames.
She decided to play his game.
“Actually yeah. Thanks for asking Golden Boy” she says with smirk
Tony stops in his tracks and stares at her for second. Carol suspects he doesn’t have best experience with first meetings.
Or well, second ones…
Tony after he recovers from his shock raises his eyebrow at her and asks “Golden Boy ?”
“Aren’t you Fury’s Golden Boy ?” Carol asks while mirroring his expression
“I thought he hated me” Tony says with surprised look and Carol shakes her head with smile
“Well… he speaks very highly of you”
Tony doesn’t look like he believes her but shrugs before he smiles at he again “How are you feeling?”
Carol wants to say “fine” like she did to everyone who asked but as she looks into his brown eyes something compels her to say the truth
“My head hurts a little, but my powers are already healing by bruises and cuts”
Tony hummus in acknowledgement “I actually wanted to ask about your powers…”
Carol feels her eyes narrow slightly “Yes? What about them?
“Fury asked me to help you with them”
Carol blinks “…Okay?”
Tony starts grinning and Carol is afraid to find out why
“Get ready. We are going to Dallas”
“No Darcy, we are not going to Disneyland” Jane Foster says as she is walking ahead of Darcy Lewis
“Come on Jane live a little” Darcy pouts and Jane roles her eyes as she is unlocking the doors.
When she opens them and Tony Stark is standing on the other side, both her and Darcy let out surprise scream.
The lights in then room start exploding and Jane’s eyes glow blue while small sparks are coming from her hands.
“Don’t do that!” She shouts holding a hand on her heart.
Tony surprised from what he just saw just blinks.
“Hey Shell-head! You look good. What are you doing here?” Darcy asks excited.
“Ehmm hi. So I have this friend, who got powers from The Tesseract and now has a little problems with them. Soo, I was wondering if you would help us figure out… why?”
“She got her powers from The Space Stone?” Jane asks intrigued
“Space Stone?” Tony asks little confused
“I thought Thor told you guys about those Infinity Stone”
“Ohhh, right. The Tesseract is a Infinity Stone?” Tony asks
“Yeah, so was the Aether, The Reality Stone”
Tony narrows his eyes a little
“Aether was that Alien liquid thingy that you got infected with a few years back?”
“Yeah… it’s because of that that I did… this.” Jane points her hand towards the lights
“That means that both you and Carol are like Maximoff with Mind Stone” Tony says not really to them but to himself.
“More or less. So where is your friend?” Jane asks
Carol is lying on Med Bed while some Machine is scanning her. Tony and Jane are in other room looking at the monitors before them.
Vision and Friday both stayed at Fury’s base looking for a way of tracking MODOK and Darcy went shopping.
“So, what’s the verdict Doc?” Tony asks
“Basically, all these years she was overcharged with Space Stones energy and now… that overcharge is wearing off”
Tony blinks a few times “….That’s it?”
Jane shrugs “Pretty much.”
Tony signs before he looks back at Jane “So, that lightning show… Is that all you can do?”
Jane grimaces “Not exactly…”
“Well, don’t be shy…” Tony says intrigued
Jane signs and easily picks up the table with one hand.
“Damn…” Tony says impressed
“I will say… I even stoped aging!” Jane shouts franticly
“Good for you?…”
Jane stops and looks deeply in thought “Actually, it’s not all that bad…”
“So, does Thor known about this?”
Jane bits her lip “We… kinda broke up.”
Tony spits the water he was drinking out and starts choking “I’m sorry, what?”
“He had to go back to Asgard and I didn’t want to trouble him with this…”
“So you broke up… But you still love him”
Jane looks down “Yeah…”
“Well, you will be back together again. I mean look… You are basically his female version now!”
Jane laughs shaking her head “We will see…”
“Lady Thor…” Tony teases and Jane playfully punches him into shoulder
“Ouch…”
