Chapter 1
The elevator opened to the common level of the Avengers housing building on the campus letting an overly excited Pepper Potts out onto the floor heading straight to the kitchen where most of the team was gathered, dressed for a night on the town. Team bonding Tony was calling it. Tony greeted his excited alpha and turned to the large group. The alpha pair: Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, Natasha Loki and Clint, Bruce and Thor were off world in Asgard handling some things there, and that left Sam Wilson and Maria Hill. All the pairs in their own little groups. Tony was well aware of the things that could happen tonight and pulled his alpha to the back of the group as they started to head down to the garage to load up and head to the club. Steve and Bucky stepped onto the elevator with Sam and Maria leaving the other five to wait.
“You know he’s not going to like you meddling like this.” Tony met her blue eyes with his brown and tried to plead that she see reason. The elevator returned and as Natasha, Loki, and Clint loaded holding it open for the last pair Pepper motioned they would get the next one as the topic they were discussing needed to be handled.
“Tony my cousin has been putting off meeting his mates for too long. Adam reached out to me last month and he thinks that Malcom isn’t doing as well as he wants us to believe. I made a promise to my uncle to watch over my cousin and if that means pushing him to meet his mates then I will do just that.” Pepper huffed as they waited for the elevator.
“I know he keeps putting it off but you know how he is. He constantly feels he won’t measure up to what they expected out of an omega and the fact he’s a male omega makes it even more scary.” He spoke with an air of familiarity to the situation that Malcom was in, having had the same thoughts about himself and Pepper.
“He will thank me for this in time. My cousin has just as much to offer as any female omega. I know deep down he has wanted to meet his Alphas since he was first told about them when he was young. The fact he still believes those lies that his mother and society put into his head makes me want to scream from the top of the highest mountain.” She felt her well manicured nails bite into the palms of her hands as her omega reached out to sooth her.
Malcom had been born with his soul mark. Pepper remembered the day her cousin finally told her about whose mark was on his skin. He had known since he was roughly 6 and hadn’t told Pepper till he was a freshman in high school, swearing her to secrecy over the whole thing. At the time the world was still under the impression that her greatest hero and his fellow alpha mate were KIA in World War II. Pepper had tried to get her cousin to reach out to Steve after the events of New York but was told: ‘I will once I graduate college Pep. Just give me time.’ So, she waited as time passed Malcom graduated and soon after Bucky was found out to be alive but on the run from Hydra and Steve. It had been a couple years now from the time Bucky was found in Romania and had been offered help from the king of Wakanda and his younger sister. Now that the alpha pair seemed to have settled and were coming to terms they had each other again Pepper had stepped up pushing her cousin to finally get the balls to meet his alpha mates.
“I agree he needs to meet them, but is this the right way to get the ball rolling? I mean taking the two popsicles to a drag show that their mate will be performing in that will most likely kick in his flight or fight instinct?” Tony walked him and Pepper onto the elevator with his hand on her lower back, touching the small sliver of skin that her clubbing outfit revealed.
“Malcom will not even know we are there. We are going to be up in VIP away from him seeing us.” FRIDAY started their decent to the garage and they stepped out seeing that each pack had picked their own cars. Tony moved over to grab the keys for the Audi R8. Natasha was in the driver seat of the sleek black Rolls-Royce Phantom with Loki and Clint in the passenger seats, Loki up front and Clint in the back. Maria and Sam were silently arguing over who would drive the Red Saleen S7. That left Steve and Bucky who had decided on taking the white Spyder.
“What is the club we are going to again Tony?” Sam hollered having won the fight on driving as Maria sulked over to the passenger seat.
“The Rosey Thorn. FRIDAY already has directions up on the cars navigations so just follow those. AVENGERS ROLL OUT!”
As they all drove out from the underground garage Tony looked over to his alpha and hoped to whoever would hear him that her cousin would be open to meeting his own alphas and not giving in to all the self-doubt. If anyone deserved a happy ending it was Pepper’s baby cousin.
