Chapter 2
Dr. Cho didn’t want Bucky to be in room when she checked you over. He begged her to let him, not wanting to leave you so soon after finding you. She gave in and let him stay.
Every cut, bruise, and wound Dr. Cho uncovered made Bucky increasingly angrier. How could he let this happen?
When Dr. Cho was done, she moved you to a room. Bucky followed. He moved a chair right next to your bed and waited until you woke.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a few days until you woke up. Bucky stayed by your side the whole time. He only left when Steve made him get food. It was never longer than a few minutes. Not wanting you miss you walking up.
You opened your eyes. The room was dark. For a minute you thought everything was a dream, a hallucination. It’s not like it hadn’t happened in the weeks you were captured. You turned your head and saw Bucky sleeping next to you, and everything came rushing back.
‘He found me. They found me.’
His arm was laying on the bed, close to yours. You slowly moved your hand to his. His hand slowly closed around yours, then his head snapped up.
“Doll!”
You smiled. “Hey.” You said, your voice gravely.
He got up and kissed you on the forehead. “I am so sorry. I should have found you sooner.”
“Shh. I made it.”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“You should rest. You still need to heal. Do you need anything?”
“Maybe some water.”
“Yeah. Okay. I will be right back.”
Right after he left, Peter walked in. He had also been a frequent flyer by your room. Checking on Bucky as much as he was checking on you.
“Hey Bee! I saw you were awake.”
“Bug!”
“How are you?”
“Good, I guess… Thank you, by the way.”
“For what?”
“Bringing me back.”
He looked at you confused.
“In the cell… I was pretty gone. Fading… But when you called me Bee, I snapped out of it.”
He smiled but it faded. “They almost took me too… I should have been there with you. We could have figured out a way to escape together.”
“You were there when it mattered.” There was a short pause. “How is Bucky?”
“Better now that you’re back. It changed from day to day. Anger, frustration, sadness.”
Bucky walked back in.
“Here doll.”
“Thanks.”
“I’ll come back later. I am glad you are home Bee.”
You smiled. “Thanks Bug.”
After a while you fell back asleep.
The next time you woke up, it was from a nightmare and Bucky gently shaking you.
“Babe. Babe you’re safe.”
You stopped struggling once you heard and saw him.
“Bucky?”
“Yeah?”
You looked into his eyes. “How long was I gone? … How long did it take for you to find me?”
You saw so many different emotions pass on his face. He looked down.
“Three weeks… Almost a month.”
You took in a breath.
‘A month.’
He looked back up at you. “I was looking, every day. New leads, old leads. Tips. Finally, they slipped up and I was there to catch it. We were at the building within hours. They had no idea we were coming.”
You motioned for him to lay on the bed with you. He did and wrapped him arms around you.
“I fought for a while…” you said.
“You don’t have to talk about it yet.”
“It’s okay. I think it might help.”
He nodded.
“It was hard. Every day was something different. Usually painful, so I would pass out, eventually. I lost count of the days. For a while… I would scream for you…”
He held you closer and kissed you on the forehead.
“Then I just laid there. Waiting for you. Waiting for all of you. I knew you would come eventually. I just had to make it until then.”
You two were quiet for a while.
“In the beginning, I imagined getting out. Standing outside your door, smirking cause I got out by myself. You saying, ‘Atta girl’ and not worried about me at all…”
He kissed you.
“Atta girl. Atta girl.”
