Chapter 2
As Miles and Peter walked to the lab, Peter filled in Miles on what was going on in this universe. Miles was very glad that they didn’t have Thanos in his universe, but he was jealous of the technology that was in the universe. Apparently, Peter had been trading emails back and forth with a Princess Shuri that had incredible tech and she was itching to upgrade his suit the next time she visited America. However, Miles could tell that Peter didn’t want an upgrade because he was sentimental about this suit because Mr. Stark had given it to him. Peter had given a very choked up and brief description of who Iron Man was and Miles could tell that the situation was similar to his Uncle Aaron, so he didn’t press.
As they approached the lab, Peter and Miles heard voices inside of it, but Peter shrugged it off, “Happy warned me that there would be some people inside of it, but we were free to use the charging cord hooked up to the arc reactor.”
Then Peter pushed the doors open, and were immediately met with red blasts that they both managed to dodge thanks to their spider sense. Miles was getting ready to fight, but he looked at Peter who looked only annoyed and slightly in awe. The blasts stopped very quickly as they both heard a voice.
“Whoa! Take it easy Wanda! They’re just kids.”
Miles looked up and saw a man in retro clothes with silver hair standing in front of a woman with strawberry red hair. As the man with silver hair turned around and uncovered the woman so that now Miles could see both of their faces.
“Elizabeth Olsen?! Evan Peters?!” Miles gasped.
This exclamation confused both of them and Miles could see Peter facepalming.
“Seriously! You don’t have any of this? Really,” Miles asked looking at Peter for help, “What about Full House do you at least have the—”
“Olsen twins. Yeah, we have Full House.” Peter said, scratching his head, “I’m not sure we have Elizabth Olsen.”
“We do!” Kat Dennings, who judging by Miles track record probably wasn’t Kat Dennings, “Oh my God I was trying to figure out why Wanda looked familiar for the longest time. The only reason I know this is because Full House was one of my obsessions when I was little. Darcy Lewis at your service, who are you guys?
“I’m Miles Morales, he’s Peter Parker.” Miles said, “Are you sure you aren’t Kat Dennings?”
Darcy nodded, then pointed at the two people behind her, “If Wanda’s supposed to be Elizabeth Olsen and I look like Kat Dennings, who are those two?”
Miles looked at them, “Teyonah Parris, I recognize her from Dear White People and Randall Park from that one scene on The Office.”
“I’m Monica Rambeau and I’ve been told I look like that actor before, but I’m a scientist.” Monica said, still looking confused about asking for something, but Darcy broke in.
“Jimmy, do you have something to say?” Darcy asked a little gleefully drawing attention to Jimmy’s horror struck face of someone being reminded of something awkward.
“How did you know about that?” Jimmy asked, “It was one scene and a fake name while I was undercover as an actor. Most people don’t say anything.”
Darcy, Miles, and Peter cracked up, while Monica looked bemused and Wanda and the silver haired man looked completely lost.
“So, what are you guys doing here?” Wanda asks, “I recognize Peter from Stark’s funeral.”
The silver haired man looked very confused for a second as Peter winced and spoke, “Miles is from an alternate dimension and he needs to charge his transporter. This is the closest lab that has arc reactor tech to charge it.”
The silver haired man spluttered, “Are you fucking kidding me?! It took this dimension five years and six months to create inter-dimensional travel and you just have it laying around!”
Miles frowned, “You're from another dimension?”
“Yeah, probably not yours. Peter Maximoff at your service! Certified X-Man.” Peter said, waving his hand, then pointed at Peter Parker, “And can we refer to him as kid-Peter, because if not, this is going to get really confusing really quickly.”
“I’m not a kid!” Peter Parker protested.
Peter Maximoff raised an eyebrow, “Dude, I’m twenty-seven. To me, you are a child. I live in a mansion made up of superpowered kids that could level buildings, but are not ready to live on their own. Trust me, teenagers are children.”
Kid-Peter couldn’t seem to make up an argument to this, so Miles filled in the awkward silence, “Where can I plug this in?”
Kid-Peter moved into action showing Miles where the port was, “Oh, right over here.”
Miles and Peter started talking about science with Darcy. When the door to the lab opened again and an incredibly disgruntled looking familiar face to Miles stomped in. Peter Maximoff got to him first and gasped.
“Is it true that you killed JFK?” He asked with baited breath.
Probably not Sebastian Stan, because his answer looked confused, “Uh, yes? I—”
He stopped when Adult-Peter fell to the floor in hysterics.
Miles decided it was his turn to confuse the man and called out, “Sebastian Stan! Man you’re looking good!” The guy turned around gave Miles an even more confused look but Miles finished the quote, “You ever see a guy this handsome walking the streets? He’s gonna get arrested because he’s killing all the ladies.”
Everyone in the room was giving Miles a strange look, but Miles knew that it was worth it.
The man looked bewildered, “But I was already arrested and let go? I stopped killing people. I don’t understand.”
“I’m done with dimension.” Miles exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air, “You don’t have Zendaya or the friendship between Sebastian Stan and,” Miles paused as a guy in a red, white, and blue suit walked in, “Anthony Mackie!”
The man blinked, “Uh, no kid. I’m Sam Wilson.”
“And I’m Bucky Barnes.”
From the floor Peter Maximoff choked, “The man that killed JFK.”
Sam gave him a cursory glance before looking up at everyone else, “So, we knew that Wanda was going to be here, but what are you kids doing here?”
“Oh, I’m just charging my dimension transporter to get home.” Miles said gesturing at it, “I ran into kid-Peter and he took me here.”
Sam looked at kid-Peter, “Have I met you before?”
“Oh, yeah,” Peter Parker nodded, “I’m Spider-Man.”
Sam’s mouth dropped open, “You’re telling me, you took us down two years ago?”
Kid-Peter nodded awkwardly, “So what are you guys doing here?”
“We got called here in case we accidentally summon an eldritch creature instead of sending someone back.” Sam explained, “Also we ran into someone else who needs to be sent to another dimension. He’s just in the bathroom.”
As if he was waiting for this cue, a man in a blue jumpsuit with a four emblem walked in. For once Miles wasn’t the only one who recognized him.
“Steve Rogers?!”
“Captain America?!”
“Chris Evans?!”
Everyone turned away from the newcomer to shoot him and odd look because, unfortunately, Miles recognized the man as someone different.
“No, I’m Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.” Johnny to everyone at large, then turned his head over to Miles, “But it’s refreshing to be recognized as someone else besides the good captain.”
“I get that.” Peter Maximoff pushed himself off the floor, “I’ve been here for six months and people keep calling me Pietro and it’s a little annoying. Only my mom calls me that when she is really angry.”
“Why are you called the Human Torch?” Monica asked, “And are you part of a superhero group? We know Peter is part of the X-Men.”
“Oh, yeah. I’m part of the Fantastic Four.” Johnny explained the smirking, “And, I’m called the Human Torch because I can do this.”
Miles jumped back as Johnny lit himself on fire, and started to hover off the ground. Miles was impressed, he could feel the heat coming from Johnny from where he was standing.
Johnny landed back on the ground and extinguished himself, “So what can you guys do?”
“Oh no,” Jimmy interrupted, “I’m just here for moral support. No powers here.”
Darcy nodded, “I'm here for the calculations, but no powers either.”
“I’m sticky.” Miles said as a way of an explanation, and pointed at kid-Peter, “And so is he.”
Monica’s eyes lit up as she blasted a bolt of power toward something unimportant in the lab. Wanda’s hands glowed as she coalesced her power into a sphere of mist. Adult-Peter hadn’t moved that they could see during this exchange, but when everyone looked at him, he was surrounded by fast food wrappers that weren’t there five seconds ago.
Adult-Peter swallowed his food and said, “I’m fast.”
Suddenly a swirling portal opened and a man, a woman, and someone completely made of rocks stepped through, they were all dressed in the same suit as Johnny.
“Sue!” Johnny exclaimed and pulled her into a hug.
Miles recognized the woman as Jessica Alba and the man as Ioan Gruffudd. He didn’t want to interrupt the touching moment. He was pretty sure Sue was crying. Then she smacked his head, and that’s how Miles knew they were siblings.
“You idiot! We just told you to stop being so reckless!” Sue then stopped and looked around at everyone in the lab, “Oh, hi. I’m here to take my brother back. I’m Sue, that’s Reed Richards and Ben Grimm.”
Everyone waved at the Fantastic Four.
“Bye Sam!” Johnny said while glaring at Bucky, “If you guys ever need any help give us a call.”
The Fantastic Four walked back through the portal.
“That was so cool.” Jimmy whispered loud enough for Miles to hear him.
“So what I’m getting from this, is that my dimension is the only one that would not be capable of dimension travel.” Adult-Peter said, “Because even this dimension had the capability even though it took about six years to reverse engineer it. Yeah, that makes sense, we can have Logan time travel constantly, but we can’t dimension travel.”
“To be fair, your dimension is still in the eighties.” Darcy pointed out.
Adult-Peter tilted his head, “True.”
“Now, are you guys ready to fire this thing up?” Darcy said pointing to her much larger dimensional transporter.
“Hell yeah!” Adult-Peter exclaimed.
Darcy hit a button and a portal similar, but to the one the Fantastic Four had gone through swirled into existence.
“Is it holding steady?” Monica asked Darcy.
She nodded, “According to these readings we should be good.”
Adult-Peter waved at them clearly getting ready to superspeed when two people came through the portal. All the metal in the room suddenly gained a mind of their own and headed for the portal.
“Wait! Erik! Please don’t kill us! It’s me!” Adult-Peter exclaimed and the metal dropped to the ground as he rushed towards the two men who Miles now recognized.
Kid-Peter looked at Miles’s excited face and sighed, “Who do they look like?”
“James McAvoy! And Michael Fassbender!” Miles whispered excitedly, “What is it all of you guys? This doesn’t happen when I go to Gwen’s dimension. But it also might be because I don’t meet any other heroes there either.”
“So how long was I missing?” Adult-Peter asked.
“You were missing for six months Peter.” The man in the wheelchair answered, “Your mother and sister were very worried.”
“Oh, yeah! About that!” Adult-Peter looked excited and blurred to grab Wanda and returned in front of the two men, “Erik, Professor, meet my alternate dimension sister, Wanda! She’s also technically a terrorist, so she’ll fit in great!”
Erik shook his head, “Peter what are you talking about.”
Adult-Peter raised an eyebrow, “You’re Mr. I-dropped-a-stadium-on-the-White-House and accused of killing JFK while I broke into the Pentagon at seventeen. That’s what I’m talking about.”
The Professor coughed into his hands in a way that implied it was more of a laugh as Wanda awkwardly waved.
“Hi, Peter has told me so much about you.”
The Professor smiled, “It is a pleasure to meet you my dear, but I’m afraid we have to get going. Our students have missed Peter dearly.”
Adult-Peter was waving when he remembered something and pointed at Bucky, “Hey, Erik guess what he did.”
A confused look crossed Erik’s face, “Why do you want me to guess?”
Adult-Peter didn’t wait for Erik to guess, “He killed JFK in this dimension and he has a metal arm!”
Adult-Peter was cackling while the Professor was openly laughing at this. Erik looked incredibly irritated as he glared at Bucky. Sam edged closer to Bucky in case he had to help him fight.
Jimmy raised his hand, “I’m still not quite sure why this is funny.”
Erik raised an eyebrow, then lifted his hand and everything metal in the room that wasn’t overly awkward or someone was wearing came zooming towards Erik. Bucky’s arm seemed to have raised involuntarily as he was tugging on it with his flesh arm.
“Ohh….” Monica said in understanding.
Erik relinquished his hold on the metal with an annoyed look on his face as he looked at Adult-Peter and the Professor who were still laughing.
“You both are hopeless,” He said and walked back through the portal.
The Professor managed to stop his laughter, “Your father is always so dramatic Peter. Say your goodbyes, your little sister is desperate to see you.”
Adult-Peter waved at Jimmy, Darcy, Monica, and Wanda, “If you guys ever need any help, you know how to reach me. Thanks for everything.”
They all waved back at Adult-Peter as he pushed the Professor’s wheelchair through the portal. After the portal closed, a beeping went off signaling that Miles' transporter was fully charged. Miles grabbed it and smiled at everyone.
“Peter, can I keep the clothes?” Once Peter nodded Miles smiled, “Bye guys! I’m so glad it was your dimension instead of the zombie one! If I ever see anything that relates to your universe, I’ll try to get in touch!”
Miles walked through the portal and let out a sigh of relief. He was home.
