The Flight

Chapter Two-

Xailing was excited. She was given an entire empire. Granted it was her father's empire but now it was her's and she could do with it what she wanted. She hugged her brother at the airport gate and smiled at Katy. " I wired your inheritance to your bank account. Should be enough for a new place and to hold you guys over while you get re situated with your new life. My cell is programed into your phone to incase you need anything. Don't be strangers." She said. Shaun smiled at her.

"You were always meant to take over the family business, not me. I am no leader like you mei mei, and for what it's worth, I am sorry I never came back for you. I should have." He said his eyes downcast. Xailing's eyes misted for a second but she quickly cleared her throat and smiled at Katy.

" You take care of my brother. I expect phone calls and texts on the regular." She said in her sternest voice. "Thanks! I will send you tips on where to buy these awesome pants to!" Katy said smiling.

Katy hugged her and they grabbed their bags and departed for their jet.

The flight home was non eventful. Shaun explained to Katy the rest of his family history and she understood him now better than she ever had. They were meant to meet. "I was wondering if I could take you on a date?" He finally asked when they were about an hour out of San Francisco. The plan was just starting it's descent and Katy looked at him with her mouth hanging open. "I uh, yeah sure!" She stammered. He smiled. "I like you Katy and I've always felt like we were good together.

I've been so afraid of taking any action my whole life and I don't want to be that way with you." He said holding her hand and running his other hand up and down her arm. She smiled softly.

"I know, we match." She said simply. He nodded. "I know it's not going to be easy, with us I mean, but we will make it work.

I am stronger than my father and I don't need the rings all the time like he did." He said more to himself than her. She gazed at them questioningly however. She had doubts but she wasn't sure she wanted to voice them yet.

They sat in comftorbal silence afterward and when their plane landed it was 2pm in the afternoon. The fog had rolled in and the sky was dark, something not unusual in the San Francisco Bay area. The golden gate loomed in the distance tall and imposing and Shaun gazed at it fondly.

"I will always consider this place my true home." He said to himself. " I feel at peace with your family. Your mom, your grandma, and even your brother. You all took me in without question and I want to thank you and repay you. You have no idea what that meant to me." The honesty in his voice tugged at her heartstrings. "I know." She smiled grabbing his arm when he offered it to her. They had a vallet waiting for them with a sign that said " Mr. Xu" on it.

"Wow. I'm going to have to get used to this." Katy said. The stitches in her side were starting to ache and Shaun offered her his arm. "Come on let's go back to my place. I already called your mom when you were in the bathroom and explained to her I had a family emergency that my dad passed away and you came with me. She understood everything just fine. I told her we would see them tomorrow." He added. Katy breathed a sigh of relief. She wasn't quite ready to face her mother just yet.

"Good, I just want to order takeout and pass out. I'm beat." She said. The driver smiled happily and was a chubby man with a kind face. "Good evening. I work for Tony Stark and help out all the Avengers. My name is Happy." He said.

Shaun nodded. "I've heard of you, Bruce told me who you were when I spoke to him the other day." He said shaking the man's hand. "I'm here whenever you need a ride, you guys are always running around so it will take some getting used to, but you won't have to worry about having a car anymore with me around. I also go between here and New York city often on business, Stark Enterprises has a tower here in Sanfran and Scott Lang helps me run it for him, I'll take you on a tour later though you guys look beat."

He said. Katy nodded resting her head on Shaun's shoulder. He was handed another cell phone.

"He is a direct line to Mr. Lang and the rest of the Avengers. You can have a private phone and this one for business. I find it's easier to do things separately." He noted the confused look on their faces as he explained things and added "I know this is alot to take in Mr. Chi but you will get used to it in time. I will do a more thorough briefing in a few days time, I know you will be meeting Dr. Strange tomorrow so rest up and see you guys soon."
Shaun and Katy had no idea that they had already arrived at his place and they thanked Happy for bringing them. "Nice to meet you dude." Katy said waving at him as he got into his black limo and left. "Things aren't going to be the same after this are they?"Katy asked.

Shaun shook his head. "No I don't think so but I know we can face whatever is coming together. It feels right." He said smiling and wrapping his arm around her as they headed into his tiny apartment.

They quickly put their things away and took showers and fell asleep entwined in eachother's arms.
The next morning came entirley too fast for Katy's liking. Shaun was snoring away when she heard a knock at the door.
She untangled herself from the sheets and put on his robe to answer the door. She was sure he wouldn't mind. Quietly she creeekd the door opened and there was an enveloupe stuck in the crevice of the door frame. It was crisp and white with swirly cursive writing on the front and it said Meet at 4th and Harbor Ave in one hour. She sighed. This was going to be her life now. She wished she didn't have to wake Shaun up. He looked so peaceful sleeping so deeply.
She was always more of a light sleeper. " Shaun." She whispered gently shaking him awake. He groaned and rolled over. "What?" He asked groggily. " This came to the door for you. There was no one there when I opened it." She said handing him the enveloupe. Sighing he got up and read it. " Well guess it's already starting." He said. It was around * am in the morning and he usually didn't get up until 10 or 11. Their shifts at the hotel were evening most of the time so they got to sleep durring the morning. They weren't early risers.
"Come on sleepy head. Let me make us some breakfast." Katy said as she ran around his apartment and grabbed some eggs and bread. She quickly put in some toast and grabbed them some orange juice from the fridge. Shaun always had his fridge stocked with food for mostly her just incase she needed a break from her crazy family, but sometimes she ended up feeding him instead. It had become a routine. "I am going to miss this place I think. It was the first place I bought for myself. The first real thing you know?" He asked as he took a drink of juice and sat at his little table. Katie nodded. "I get it, but now that you have money things will be alot easier for you i'm sure." She said scrambling eggs on the stove. Nodding he watched her work. They had the most comftorbal bond. He could watch her for hours. She finally turned around and looked at him curiously. "What are you thinking?" She asked.
He shook his head. "Just how much I like spending time with you." He smiled. She smiled back. " I like being with you too, it feels right." She said mostly to herself.
She plated their breakfast consting of scrambled eggs and cheese and toast with butter on it and they ate together in comftorbal silence.
" Well are you ready to start this adventure?" He asked. His green emerald neklace was back around his neck and it glimmered in the sunlight and she smiled. "I'm always up for an adventure." She said holding his hand and squeezing gently.
