Summary
Hawkeye. He probably didn’t have to worry about high school or boys touching you or fathers who didn’t care or dead mothers. He was a hero. She wasn’t.At least until she somehow ends up connected to a drug empire and blows it up. While meeting her idol. Now she, an angsty badass teenager, has to save New York with the help of an old man aka Hawkeye. Sounds like the beginning of a cliche 2000’s movie right?Oh well. It couldn’t get much worse than this. (It does get much worse than this.)

Liar Liar Pants on Fire

Donelley Residence, Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York City

Kate was ready. Oh, Kate was so ready. She was ready to finally let go and be a stupid teenager with her friends without her Mom asking questions.

Where are you going?

Who are you going with?

You don’t need to do that you’re staying home.

(She missed her questions. Her dad didn’t even read her text about the party.)

She didn’t care though (she did) , it just meant fewer questions, no curfew, more freedom.

At the moment Kate was at the Albrecht residence getting ready with Isa. Their costumes were coordinated, a devil and an angel, and a 10 on the sexy meter. The only part of their costume that was a costume was their headbands, a halo and devil horns, the rest was basically lingerie. And if any parents asked questions it was from the juniors section at a department store and perfectly appropriate and on-trend for her generation. (Rich parents usually like to pretend that they’re keeping up with the new styles but they have no idea.)

Looking in the mirror, she barely recognized herself. For starters, she was hot.

Kate Bishop was hot.

In what world was Kate Bishop hot? No, world. So where the hell was she transported to and could she please stay there forever?

She was wearing a black corset, black mini skirt, fishnets, doc martens, a black velvet choker around her neck with a blood-red ruby, and a headband with red devil horns. Her hair was out from her usual ponytail and Isa’s future career as a makeup artist was looking extremely possible right about now.

Normally, anything remotely short, showy, or sexy was off Kate’s radar. In her professional opinion, anything that showed off her body was uncomfortable. (In multiple ways, one of them being she had body image issues, deal with it.)

All that went out the window just for the night cause she was goddamn satan and she was really fucking hot.

Isa was the angel to her devil, same costume concept except for everything in white, an angel halo, and a pair of wings. She looked pretty hot too. Step one of their foolproof plan done. Their chances of getting boyfriends by the end of the night were looking good.

“Girls, are you ready to go!”

Mr. Albrecht, Isa’s dad, was driving them to the party, picking them up later too so they couldn’t get wasted if there was alcohol unless they wanted to get in trouble. (There was definitely going to be alcohol.)

“Yep, we’re coming down Dad!”

Isa looked over her shoulder into the mirror.

“Damn, we’re hot.”

“Understatement of the year Isa.”

Her laugh was loud and more of a cackle, it was cute.

Why did you just think her laugh was cute you idiot!

“Now or you two are going to be late!”

They had been at the party for about 2 hours.

Kate was bored out of her mind.

When they first got to the party they had an objective. Find Nate and Liam. Seduce. Make out. Become the ultimate power couples of Dwight. They found Nate and Liam. Check. And they both looked pretty blown away by their costumes so, seduce check. They even got to dance with them, bonus check. Now though, Kate had been waiting in a corner by herself for 15 minutes for Liam to come back with the drinks he said would only take him a minute to get.

A minute my ass.

Isa had been dancing with Nate last she saw her. To be honest, it was less dancing and more grinding. It was weird.

She didn’t know how to feel when she saw Isa kiss Nate. She didn’t know why she should care either. But she did. She cared. She cared that Isa was kissing a boy that she hadn’t even spoken to before tonight and not laughing with Kate in a corner about something stupid the drunk kid with the tiger face paint did.

She’s too good for him.

No, Kate, you like Liam, you came here for Liam. That’s your mission. Focus on the mission. But if he doesn’t come back in the next 10 minutes you should find Isa and leave. It’s getting a little too wild anyways.

“You look really good Kate.” He smiled bashfully.

“Uh, thanks.” Holy shit he thinks you look good.

“Do you maybe want to dance a little?” Liam asked her to dance. Liam was blushing. Liam was shy and the cutest slash hottest boy in the world.

“Um, yeah sure. That sounds good.” Did she really just say that? After he asked her to dance in the most adorable way possible? Yes. Awkwardness meter, 10 out of 10.

9:32 pm

“How are you liking Dwight so far?”

They were sitting on marble stairs in the back of the house. Mansion, more like.

“It’s nice. A lot nicer than my old school. Better friends, harder classes. I like it.”

“That’s good. You were blipped right?” He studied me curiously.

“Yup.” She turned her head towards the ground. She didn’t like being reminded of the five years she lost. And what she lost in those five years.

“I’m sorry. I don’t want to be insensitive. It’s just a little crazy to me, how people can just disappear and reappear with the snap of a finger.”

“It’s okay.” Kate’s mouth pulled into a faint smile.

Their hands edged together on the staircase till they were touching.

Liam McKinsey was holding Kate Bishop’s hand.

Okay, enough of this.

In the last 6 minutes, she had already downed one can of White Claw and was debating getting another. She was a bit tipsy and it was a little hard to think but one thing was for sure, Liam was not getting drinks.

Kate spotted Nate on the other side of the room. No Isa though. Maybe she was outside. Or somewhere else in this ten-bedroom house (mansion) . Finding her was going to be a pain. But what kind of friend would she be if she didn’t.

“Hey Nate, have you seen Liam or Isa anywhere?” Making herself heard over the pounding music was a pain in itself.

“Yeah, I saw Nate upstairs a while ago. Haven’t seen Isa though.” His words were slurred together. Drunk as a skunk. Fitting, he smelled like one too.

“Thanks.”

She went up the staircase and started opening doors. She even made a game out of it.

Behind door #1? A couple having sex.

Behind door #2? Another couple having sex.

Door #3 was locked but judging by what she was hearing it was another couple having sex.

Door #5. Someone throwing up.

Door #6. A couple getting ready to have se-

“What the fuck!”

It was Liam and Isa.

Isa half-naked on top of Liam and Liam had his abs on full display-

She slammed the door closed.

Then she booked it out of there.

Forget Isa. Forget having a boyfriend. Forget questioning your sexuality because in the end trusting people was foolish and she should never have trusted Isa with her crush and she should never have trusted Liam enough to not lie.

“Kate! Wait for a second!”

It was Liam.

“Kate, come back!”

It was Isa (Isadora she’s not your friend anymore).

Kate didn’t go back. Kate didn’t wait. She should have. She should’ve never left. But she did. She left and because of that, a part of her died that day. The part that still believed in human decency and love and trust and loyalty.

She would never be that Kate Bishop again.
