"they don’t know me”
FLASHBACK
“ listen up. We are recruiting new heros… to keep the avengers initiative going well. I have managed to negotiate with Spider-Man, he will be staying with us at the tower but his identity must remain a secret… even from you.” Nick Fury started.
Many avengers started to protest but was promptly shushed by Fury when he held his hands up.
“ if you have any issues you can bring it up with me.” Nick Fury said. Everyone knows well enough to not engage with an angry Nick Fury.
“ what about Tony?” Strange asked.
“ *sigh* if you trust him enough, he can see Tony… just keep an eye on him on when he will wake up from his coma.”
“ okay…” strange said softly.
“ okay, you can come out now Spider-Man “ Nick fury shouted. The avengers waited in anticipation but frowned when no one came through the door.
Nick fury cleared his throat. “ you can come now spider boy!”
“ I’m here! I’m here! Sorry I was late uncle fury.” Spider-Man said as he stumbled into the room panting.
“ wait- uncle?!” Clint shouted.
“ I only allowed him to call me that. If any of you bring it up, I’ll have you head in my showcase. Am I made clear?” Fury said as he looked pointedly at the avengers.
“Um… so… I’m um Spider-Man. Nice to meet you all.” Peter stumbled on his words.
“ I’ll leave you all to it then. I trust that you accept him as your own.” And with that Nick fury left.
“ so.. your Spider-Man then?” Natasha asked.
“ yup” he replied, popping the ‘p’.
“ not bad the suit and your fighting skills. I’ve been watching them.” Natasha said.
“ thanks miss Natasha Romanoff mam.” Peter said totally fanboying .
This caused the assassin to let out a laugh. “ no need for formalities little spider .”
This caused Peter to blush in embarrassment.
“ so do you like pranks?” Clint asks with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“ do I? Of course I do! “
PRESENT
Peter became really close with the avengers and they all loved the smol bean, but they still did not know who’s behind the mask. But alas, they trusted him enough to tell him about Tony and even let Peter see his father. Peter was going to tell that he was his son but decided against it. He thought that the avengers would not believe him and he would lose what they have. It’s been weeks, and Tony has shown no signs of waking up.
“ hey spidey here so soon?” Natasha asked
“ ya, scho- i mean work finished early.”
Peter replied as he walked into the common room where the rest of the avenged were.
“ look kid… we have something to show you…” Steve started sincerely. This freaked Peter out. Did I do something wrong? Did they find out who I am? Did-
“ this way little spider.” Buck said as they all lead Peter to the Med Bay.
“ um… this is the Med Bay? Why are we here?” Peter asked, as he crooked his head to the side.
“ yes. But we have something to show you. “ Natasha said as she clicked a button and the walls opened up to another room. Peter gasped at the sight. There lay an unconscious Tony on the bed, being hooked up by many many monitors. He ran over to see if his father was really alive. He gently placed his gloved hands on Tony’s. Even with the suit, he can feel that Tony’s hands were cold. “ H-he’s still alive?” He breathed out.
“ ya… apparently, the stones did not kill him…” Steve said.
Peter knows why. He had snapped with his father, he must have absorbed most of the powers, leaving Tony alive.
‘ I saw him die…in my arms… maybe I’m not cursed to kill all my family after all’
Peter thought.
“ Welp, I’ll leave you both then.” Clint said as all the avengers left, closing the door behind them.
Peter removed his mask and started crying. No, not sad tears, but tears of joy. He’d never thought his father would be alive. ‘ I’ve got to save you. ‘ Peter thought and asked Karen to do a scan on his father.
“ it seems as though the stones has damaged part of Tony’s arc reactor and has caused some damage to the brains.” Karen said
Peter whispered a “ I’ll be back” and quickly left the room with his mask on to find a cure for his dad.
“ hey spidey! Here so soon?” Stephen asked.
“ yup!” Peter replied. Peter has taken a liking to Stephen, he thought of him as his second dad, after Tony.
“ where are you going?” Stephen asked.
“Um… home. “ he replied and swung outside to his small apartment, Stephen saying “ safe flight “ in a distance. One he reached home, He quickly tried to formulate a cure for Tony.
It’s already been a week, and Peter finally managed to make a serum that can help Tony. He quickly went to the avengers tower.
“ hey spidey! Want to play a round of Mario Cart with me? Natasha is betting on you.” Clint offered.
“ oh- well, um I’ve got work to do… so… maybe later? I’ll be at my room if you need me.” Peter called out and quietly ran to the Med bay to see his father.
Meanwhile, Natasha felt something fishy about Spider-Man. Spider-Man would never refuse a game of Mario Cart, no matter how busy he was. “ guys, I think something is up with spidey. You all know he never refuses a game of Mario Cart. We have to go find him and see what’s wrong.” She said to the avengers. The rest quickly agreed. They went up to Spidey’s room, to find no one there. “ guys… stay on alert.” Natasha said as she drawee out her knife. “ FRIDAY, where’s Spidey?” She asked.
“ Spider-Man is currently in the Med bay with Boss.” She replied.
“WHAT?! Why didn’t you alert us?!” Stephen asked.
“ Spider-Man has hacked my system to not alert anyone.” FRIDAY replied.
Now everyone was suspicious. They all looked at one another for an answer.
“ listen up!” Natasha yelled, grabbing the attention of the avengers.
“ I’m not sure what Spider-Man is doing, suit up and we will look from a distance and observe him first before engaging. Am I clear.” She continued.
Everyone quickly nodded their heads and made their way up to the Med bay.
“ let’s just hope we did not make the mistake of trusting him.” Natasha said.
“ what?! We don’t even know his identity! Heck! Even Fury doesn’t know! I’m not sure trusting him is a good option.” Sam whisper-yelled.
Natasha shushed him when he saw Spider-Man sitting with Tony.
“Hey Tony… missed me? You know, I’ll come back for you right? After everything you’ve done, you think you can just leave? Well no.” Peter said to an unconscious Tony. Peter removed the gloves of his suit to reveal a severely damaged hand, the hand which he snapped with Tony, but the avengers don’t know that.
“ remember what happened? We did this together. It was painful I know, you are dying right now because of it…. *sigh* I-I just hope you remember me… after I erased everyone’s memories… even the avengers don’t know who I am now.” Peter said, his voice growing quieter. He then stood up and injected the serum into Tony.
“ I hope this would do the trick.” Peter said and left the Med bay, not seeing the avengers at the corner.
The avengers were stunned at what they saw.
“ um… Nat.. maybe we were wrong about trusting him… “ Bucky said.
“ Oh My God! Spider-Man is Tony’s enemy! Did you hear what he said? He said he said he erased our memories! And he even injected Tony with a poison! Oh god” Sam said.
“ looks like we have to take him down and bring him to Fury for questioning.” Steve said.
All the avengers agreed and went to the common room to find spidey eating a sandwich.
“ oh hey guys! Um… why are y’all in uniform? Is there a threat?” Spidey asked as he quickly finished up the last of the sandwich and pulled down his mask.
“ yes. Actually there is. YOU.” Natasha said as she threw a knife close to his shoulder. Peter quickly reacted and moved fast enough to see the knife land on the wall just beside his shoulder.
“ um… what the frick frack frickety heck was that for!” Spidey screamed. To say, the avengers were amused with his phrasing of words.
“ we saw you injecting something inside Tony. We know you are trying to kill him!” Stephen yelled.
“ wa-what?” Peter stumbled on his words. He had no clue how to explain himself now. But even before he had the chance, Natasha threw another knife, narrowly missing his abdomen.
“ okay… this is gonna sound weird… if only you guys would let me explain…” Peter started but was quickly cut off by Steve yelling, “ guys back up is coming !” Peter quickly turned around to see the lightning crackling.
“ oh Odin.” Peter mumbled.
Clint shot his arrows at Peter, while Natasha threw all her knifes at Peter. Peter let out a yelp as he swiftly dodged all the arrows and knifes.
“ guys listen…” he started to say but he was once again cut off by Bucky, who used his metal arm to punch him. Peter however, blocked the punch with one hand. This caused everyone to gasp. Wanda used her magic to lift the chairs and threw it at Peter. Peter hopped on the chairs and landed gracefully with a back flip. “ look as I was trying to say-“
“ we don’t have to listen to you!” Steve said as he threw his shied at Peter.
To which Peter caught. “ looks like I have to do it the hard way then.” He said as he ripped captain America’s shield like wet paper. The avengers were stunned at Spider-Man’s capabilities. Peter took this opportunity to web up redwing, he really did not want a repeat of what happened in civil war. He then advanced to Clint and tried to shoot his webs. Clint seemingly missing each and every web.
“ ha. You missed.” Clint replied when he dodged all of the webs.
Peter gave a sweet scary smile, “ I wasn’t aiming for you.”
Clint was confused. He looked around and saw that he was trapped in a cage of webs.
“Fuc-“
“ language” Peter called.
Natasha crept behind Peter and tried to taste him with the widow bites. But nothing affected Peter.
“ um… this is awkward…” Peter said
“ why isn’t this working?!” Natasha yelled.
“ well, there goes your performance credit. I’ll still rate the move 6 out of 10 though.” Peter replied as he used taser webs to knock out Natasha and then using the very sticky webs to web up hee hands and legs.
“ whoo! So! Who’s next?” Peter said, still dazed that he took down two avengers. Bucky and Steve simultaneously attacked. He used that to his advantage and when Bucky was trying to hit him, he quickly jumped to the ceiling, making him accidentally hit Steve instead. “ too slow old man!” He laughed. This angered Bucky. He came in for another round to hit him but hit the table instead, when Peter moved out of the way. Steve was clutching his jaw, but quickly recovered and attacked Peter, who was standing still . Thinking that he has finally trapped the spider. He came in running and to only find out that it was a hologram.
“ what the fu-“
“ language “ Peter called from above as he grave fully backflipped down.
“ why you little…” Steve yelled and came full force to Peter. Peter then held up a bottle. Oh no. It’s not just any bottle, it’s oil, Steve realised. Before he could react, he slipped from the force and collided with the wall, making him groan in pain. He definitely had a few broken bones. Bucky took his knife out and started fighting with Spider-Man. But he was too slow spidey was always faster and more nimble than him. Peter quickly took out the wooden piece of table that Bucky broke and used it to shield himself from the knife. Bucky used all his force and slammed the knife on the piece of wood. When he tried to remove it, he realised that it was stuck. Peter used the opportunity to throw the wooden piece up the fan. Since Bucky was still holding his knife…. Well, you could say that he ended up on the floor, face first. Peter then webbed him up yo the nearby wall, to see Bucky glaring at Peter as his nose was bleeding. Next, Sam and Wanda started fighting him. Wanda tried to get inside his brain but luckily, he was strong enough to block her out. Wanda got mad and used her magic to lift the knifes on the floor and threw them at Peter. Peter closed his eyes, letting his spider senses guide him through. He also webbed some knifes into Sam’s wings, powering it down. Now he has taken down two assassins, two super soldiers and have a flightless bird. Great. He used his webs to web up Sam beside Steve. Now he has Wanda and Stephen. He knows Wanda is strong with her powers. He knows Stephen is powerful too. Stephen approached Peter and opened up the mirror dimension with Wanda in it too.
“ well, shit.” Peter muttered. Stephen used his power to control the buildings to close up on Peter. Peter quickly ran towards the exit. With that, he dropped a good few meters. “ looks like I just have to do the same old trick.” Peter said, panting. Both of the avengers gave him a confused look. Peter used his web to hit Stephen. Stephen used his hands to block out the webs.
“ um… well, was that supposed to do something?” He asked as he used his hands to move the block of building Peter was standing on, causing him to stumble down, retreating his webs back.
“ well, wizard, I thought you were smarter than that.” Peter called over.
“Wha- what do you mean?” Stephen asked in confusion.
“ clearly you missed your webs.”
“ it did I?” Peter said, a smirk forming on his face as he held out the sling ring.
All the colour drained out of Stephen’s face.
“ what is a sling ring?” Wanda asked, still confused on where she was.
“ oh I’ll show you.” Peter said as he made a portal and pushed it to Wanda. He the. Proceeded to web up Stephen, his hands further apart from one another and teleport them back into the compound.
“ wow, looks like one spider has taken down the avengers.”
“ well, it’s kinda exactly like that..so…” Peter said as he came out of the portal, Stephen in his webbed cuffs. Peter webbed Stephen’s knees to the ground, making him kneel down.
“ okay, now one more.” Peter said
He then opened up another portal where Wanda was and quickly webbed up her hands and her legs, to the wall when she dropped down.
“ phew. God that was amazing!” Peter fanboyed for a second before Thor came through the door.
“ what’s wrong this time Capta- “ he started and saw Spider-Man standing in-front of a defeated bundle of avengers.
“ what’s the meaning of this?!” Thor shouted at Spider-Man, who flinched at the loud sound.
“ um…I-I can explain…I think…”
But Thor already has a hammer in his hand and threw it at the spiderling .
Peter did what his spidey senses told him to do and caught the hammer mid-air. This earned a collective gasp from the avengers and Thor himself.
“ what-how- that’s Impossible.” Thor said, still processing the fact that a mere mortal had caught his worthy hammer. Peter, not knowing what being worthy meant, just proceeded to web up Thor next to all of the avengers.
“Phew. Okay. Now could any of you tell me WHY TGR FRICK WERE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!” Peter exclaimed.
“ don’t act all innocent, we know who you are to Stark.” Wanda said.
“ wait- so you guys know??”
“ yes. And we won’t let you hurt him.” Captain said as he struggled with the webbing.
“ wait- hurt him? Why do you think I’m gonna hurt him?” Peter asked, clearly confused now.
“what the heck! Why are you guys trying to kill my son?!” A new voice came from behind Peter. Peter turned so fast it was like he had a whiplash.
“ Dad! OH MY THOR! You remember me!” Peter ran and clung on to Tony, who was in his hospital gown.
Tony hugged back his spider. But the beautiful moment was interrupted by one steeb
“ SON?! Tony! He drugged you! Your not thinking straight. He injected something into you!” Steve said, struggling to get out of the webbing.
“ why are you guys acting like you don’t know him?” Tony asked seriously.
“ dad…” Peter said looking at Tony.
“ they don’t know me”
“ *sigh* kid. What did you do now?” Tony asked with his dad face on.
“ so… it’s a long story…” Peter mumbled shyly and played with his fingers.
Tony sighed.
Okay let’s talk over some food. I’m hungry.
“ what the heck Tony?! You just came back from coma after a few months and that’s the first thing you wanna do?” Stephen asked, aware of Tony’s antics.
“ Well what do you want me to do? You maybe? Or Mope around the fact that I nearly died? Or find out the fact on why you nearly killed my son? Or save the world again?”
Stephen’s face went red after what Tony has told him.
“ so let’s eat!” Tony said clasping his hands together.
“ and kid, get out of that suit. Waaaaaait… I didn’t make that suit.” Tony said inspecting the suit.
“ like I said, I-it’s a long story.” Came the reply from Peter, who was removing the webbing from all the avengers.
Peter went to his room and changed into his Spider-Man hoodie that Tony had bought him as a joke and Ironman sweatpants to go with it. He then quickly made his way to the common room to see Stephen cooking something delicious.
He then made his way to his chair between Tony and Natasha.
“ what?!” Clint shouted
“ your-your a baby! How on earth did you take down all of us?!”
Peter flushed deep red, “ um… heh.. I actually studied all of your fighting methods. “
“ wow”
“ so kid wats the tea?” Tony asked, having his first cup of coffee.
“ *gasp* oh my gwad! U said ‘ wats the tea’!” Peter exclaimed, surprised that his father has used a slang.
“ yah yah yah , your rubbing off on me. Now, seriously, what happened?”
“ so… after you..died… you gave me EDITH..remember “
“ yes. I recall something like that.”
“ so… then you wanted me to be the next you, a-and I-I just.. *sigh* I just I’m not worth it of becoming you. A-and there was this guy that Nick trusted.. he called himself mysterio,,, he was viewed as a hero! I thought- I knew that he would be the right one… so I gave him EDITH..” Peter sniffed.
“ Pete…”
“ I know I know, a-and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have given away your glasses. I-I was reckless, I should not have trusted him though.. he was actually using illusions to manipulate everyone to thinking he’s a hero. I was so naïve to fall for that.” Peter whispered the last part.
“ I-I was fighting him and he kinda revealed my identity… after that may and my friends were arrested for supporting me, who they believed killed their beloved mysterio. So I was blacklisted and so were my friends.. and they couldn’t get to any colleges… so I did something dumb.. I went to Stephen to help me… and I might have convinced him to cast a spell to forget that I ever was Spider-Man … and I also might have messed up the spell… and it gone wrong… so… wekindabrokethewhloemultiverse.” Peter said quickly.
“ what? I didn’t catch that.” Tony asked.
“ *sigh* I said,,, we kinda broke the whole multiverse. Heh..heh.. “ Peter said nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
“ wait hold up- what do mean we broke the whole multiverse?” Stephen asked.
“ well, for starters, villains who were bound to get killed by Spider-Man came through the portal. And there was like a guy who was made of sand, ohh another one who was a lizard.. and another one who conducts electricity.. and the doctor with octopus tentacles a-and the green goblin.” Peter said counting with his fingers.
“ wow.. um… I have no idea how to respond to that.” Tony said , to which Stephen nodded.
“ ya, well, Stephen gave me a spell to capture all of them to send them back… and yada yada yada , we captured them and Stephen was like we need to put them back in their universe. And I was like we still can’t let them die by me. And Stephen didn’t want to break the whole multiverse so we kinda had a fight… and let’s just say that he ended up in the Grand Canyon for like I don’t know 8 hours ? Then I was like we should help these guys and I May was very supportive. But one of the villains, the green goblin… well, he was kinda unstable.. and h-he k-killed Aunt May.. s-she died in my arms a-and the last thing she said to me was ‘ with great powers comes great responsibility.’ “
Peter sobbed
Tony activated his dad mode and went to peter’s side and placed a comforting hand on Peter’s shoulders.
Peter wiped his tears and continued
“ M-May.. s-she wanted to fix them… so that’s what I did. I was trying to find a cure for all the villains… with the help of two other Peter Parkers. They kinda also came… and they are Spider-Man too …it was weird but I mean we’ve seen worse before right. “ Peter chuckled.
But Tony was just stunned to say anything.
“ turns out they are just as smart as me and also witnessed traumas. Peter number one lost his uncle in his arms.. Peter number two lost his girlfriend in his arms too.. wow.. the Parker luck is real… anyway, the only way for them to all go back was to make the spell right and that everyone would forget who Peter Parker is. And then I was asked to join the avengers again… and then they told me you were alive and I knew I can’t let another person whom I love die… again.. so I made a cure and they thought I was trying to kill you or something… and here we are.” Peter said plastering his smile.
The avengers were in shock to say anything.
“ come here” Tony said as he gave his son a bone crushing hug.
“ I’m sorry for everything.” Peter replied in a sad voice.
“ look, I’m not disappointed. I’m actually proud. You were brave and strong.. and you did the right thing. You already are better than me underoos.” Tony said smiling at his son.
The avengers were watching the beautiful father-son moment until a certain bird brain interrupted.
“ wait- what the actual fuc-“
