Chapter 1
You were on earth for millenniums, when humans discovered the gods, you were already wandering. Your father was worshiped, but it was you who made the show happen. Your father, Poseidon, was not as powerful as they imagined, but you were. With the combined powers of your father, and your mother, Demeter, you brought life to the most deserted places.
Not living on Olympus was your choice, you had no patience for the ego conflicts that your father and the others had. You preferred to take care of Atlantis while watching humanity evolve. It was your duty to keep Atlantis protected and hidden from the eye. You had some informants on earth, who warned you about conflicts and evolutions. You only intervened on occasions that could harm your people, or the waters. It was an agreement you made with your uncle, so as not to compromise your identity or their identity.
But something went wrong.
Your hearing was better underwater, so you heard desperation coming from the north. You checked your system to see that there was a fallen object sinking in the ocean near the bridge of Atlantis. It looked like a plane, but the shape was different. You opened the system and verified that there was a person inside, with weak vital signs.
“Ma'am, we are having agitation in the north, our guards are saying that there is a person trapped inside.” One of your soldiers informed you from the hall door. “Should we help?”
You opened the system and checked that the person was a woman, you activated recognition and noticed that she was a heroine. Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow, Avenger.
“I will go, call Orion to take my place while I am away.” You said changing your vestments to your suit.
“Ma'am, are you sure?” The man said worriedly.
“Of course, Orion is my brother, he knows how to take care of things.” You walked past the man, slapping your hand on his shoulder and walked out.
You, with the help of your father's trident, swam quickly to where the plane was sinking. There was a big hole in the side, a dent in the front, and the windows were broken. You noticed that you had seen these fighters before, when you had to eliminate them from the oceans during a major clean-up. Deciding to get closer, you noticed that the interior was full of water, a human body could not resist.
You ripped off a piece of metal that prevented you from reaching the woman, approached her body, saw that she was holding her breath, and was startled when she saw you. She stirred, but you put your hand over hers and signaled no.
“I'm here to help you.” You said sharply, startling the woman. Clearly seeing the confusion on her face. “I will release you, we are a few feet from the surface, you will have to hold on a little longer, okay?”
Natasha confirmed with her head, then you used the trident to rip the belt that held her. When released, Natasha's body began to float, and you held her by the waist.
“Hold on to me, I will have to be quick and that might be uncomfortable for you.”
She quickly held on to your neck, intertwining her arms around you. Slamming the trident into the plane, you picked up momentum and headed for the surface. Within three minutes, you were floating on the water. Looking around, you noticed that there was no land nearby, and no sign of a ship either. You looked at the woman in your arms and felt despair grow in your body.
“Στρατιώτης, where is the nearest land?” You used your suit's communicator and soon saw the sleeve of your suit changing, receiving a map pointing to the west.
Disengaged, Natasha released her arms from you, causing you to wrap both arms around her body in a hug. You held the trident between your arms and Natasha and pointed it west. Quickly you dove in, and within a few minutes you were on dry land.
You held Natasha on your lap and carried her to the sand of a beach. Your costume automatically changed into human robes, the trident became a tattoo on your arm. You laid Natasha down on the sand and checked the pulse in her neck. It was weak. You knelt down beside her, rubbing your hands together, you generated a golden energy, you pointed it at Natasha's body. Your eyes changed color, becoming completely golden as well. Slowly you managed to remove all the water from Natasha that was preventing her from breathing.
Natasha jerked up on her elbows, turned around and began to cough. You held her up, helping her to sit up. Now you could look at her, she had remarkable lips, her green eyes seemed to reflect her soul, her red hair helped give color to her face.
When she looked at you, without the difficulty of the water, Natasha was speechless. She had traveled the world but had never found beauty like yours. It was as if you were unique, a goddess, so she thought.
“Thank you, for saving me.” Natasha said, low, still catching her breath.
“You're welcome, Natasha.” You replied, taking your hands off the woman, and standing up.
You looked around, waiting for some sign of life, to see if anyone had seen your approach. Nothing. Not a living soul on that beach. No sign of civilization.
Natasha, still confused by recent events, looked you up and down. Were you some kind of mutant? Or super soldier?
“What's your team?” Natasha said getting your attention, when you looked at her, with a confused expression she rephrased the question. “You, who are you? What are you? Mutant?”
“No, ma'am.” You replied, but turned your gaze to the sea, noticing far away an approaching plane similar to the one the woman had fallen overboard in. “Looks like your rescue has arrived.”
You approached Natasha again, extending your hand. She took it, and stood up, facing you. She ran her gaze over you, nothing, no sign that you appeared to be a threat.
As the plane approached, landing meters away from you, you turned away from Natasha. Stepping out of the plane, a familiar figure approached you. Nick Fury, his face looked older than the last time you saw him, he still had his eye patch on, but now his clothes had a somber tone.
“Romanoff, you scared us, for a moment I thought I had lost you.” Fury said, directing Natasha, who smiled at the man and approached him. The man squeezed her shoulder and turned to you. “Y/N, daughter of Poseidon and Demeter. Goddess, who gives life and cares for the oceans. Thank you for saving my agent.”
Natasha seemed to take a shock, she froze, she looked at you with wide eyes and her mouth formed a perfect O. She had been saved by a goddess, but she had never heard of you in any mythology or history book.
“No problem, Joseph, son of Nia.” You replied.
“There's something I need to show you, will you accompany me?” Nick said, turning around, pointing to the plane.
You nodded and walked past the man, heading towards the plane. Nick and Natasha followed you steps behind. Natasha took her cue to question Fury.
“Joseph? Nia? Daughter of Poseidon?” Natasha whispered to the man, who merely stated with a nasal sound. “I thought Thor was enough, now we have a Greek goddess?”
“We don't.” Nick replied, walking away, accompanying you to the plane.

Natasha's mistake was to tell Clint about you. Soon, everyone already knew of your existence. Thor made a point of showing up to see you in person, because after all, he was going to meet a goddess. Steve had gotten used to Thor, but when he found out about you, he found himself questioning his own beliefs. Bucky, Vision, Wanda, Tony, and Bruce were sitting in the room disguising it with casual conversation, but each one of them wanted to know who you were. Those who couldn't disguise their excitement were Sam, Scott, and Clint. The three of them stood in the main hallway waiting for you to come out of the conference room.
When the door opened, Fury rolled his eyes as he realized what was happening. Everyone was looking toward the room for your presence, and when they all saw you, they were stunned. You stopped next to Fury and looked at him with a serious look.
“Forgive me, the same thing happened to Thor, Odin's son.” Fury said, letting out a frustrated sigh. “I promise they won't open their mouths about you.”
You nodded and followed the corridor, but a man a little taller than you stopped in front of you. Thor. Taking steps to the side, he did as well, stopping you in your tracks. You drew your eyebrow together in questioning, and he seemed to imitate you.
“Thor, let her go.” You heard Natasha's voice nearby.
“Are you a goddess?” Thor said, looking at you, but you didn't answer. “I doubt it.”
You looked the man up and down, but your nordic coat and posture made you want to laugh at the man. The man reached out his hand, and you heard a noise approaching, a hammer, flew up and was caught by the man in midair.
He continued to stare at you unblinking. You didn't move. His clothes began to change into battle armor, you noticed lightning around the hammer. Through the window, you could notice the sky darkening,
“Thor.” Fury warned him.
“Show me who you are.” Thor didn't seem to hear you, and stepped forward, standing very close to you.
“I don't need to prove anything to you.” You tried to move again, but he stopped you. “You asked for it.”
In one quick, split-second movement, you ran your hand down your arm, causing the trident to jump out of your arm. You caught it in the air and slammed the tips into the man's legs, knocking him to the ground. He stood up quickly and tried to point the hammer at you, but you took the hammer from his hand and with your trident you pushed the man to the wall.
“You better be still, Odin's son.” You said through your teeth. “I've decapitated a god before, I wouldn't object to doing it again.”
Everyone there seemed in an even bigger state of shock, you took a deep breath as you noticed the man's wide eyes. You released him from the wall and stepped away, extending his hammer to him.
“How?” Thor took the hammer from your hand, you looked confused, so he continued. “Only lift the Mjölnir who is worthy.”
“That's just a trick of the gods.” You leaned on the trident, making it change color.
“Hi, hello, madam." A voice caught your eye, making you turn around. “ Nice to meet you, Scott, Scott Lang.” He took your hand and shook it clumsily. “I'm a big fan of your father and family, and wow, you're strong.” He continued shaking your hand. “You move the water, could you do a trick?”
You laughed at the man, who was soon taken away from you by Natasha. She gave you an apologetic look and a half-hearted smile.
“Well, since that's all settled, Y/N, I hope I can help you once again, in return for saving Natasha.” Fury said, approaching, stopping beside you. “Or you can stay and enjoy a dinner with all of us, I believe we have curious minds here.”
“Sure, why not?” You said, still looking toward Natasha.

Over dinner, you were asked several questions: Why do you hide? Why are there no historical records of you? Are there Atlantis? Is Zeus dead? Where is Olympus? Do fish talk? What does fish poop smell like? What about Theseus' ship?
You avoided half of the questions, but in the end you had to show your skills with water. The biggest surprise came from Thor, who didn't know that the human body had so much water and was even more shocked when he found out how deadly you could be.
When everyone was satisfied with their questions, you said goodbye to everyone and made mention of leaving, but Natasha called out to you.
“Hey, I wanted to thank you again, for saving me.” She said, approaching you, looking you in the eyes.
“No need to thank me, Miss Romanoff.” You smiled and moved a little closer. There was a lock of hair covering your face, so you took the lock out and tucked it behind her ear. “It would be unfortunate for the world to lose a heroine as beautiful as you.”
“Then I believe I owe you a favor then.” She smiled, still looking at you.
You snapped the trident on the ground, and it turned into a tattoo again on your arm. Natasha was so focused on you that she didn't even notice.
“I don't usually accept, however I can make an exception for you.” You approached the woman again.
“Why do I get the feeling you already have something on your mind?” Natasha asked, with a mischievous smile forming on her lips.
“Do you want to find out how we gods accept worship?” You brought your hand to Natasha's waist, who automatically brought her hand to your arms.
“I'd love to.” She whispered.
You leaned in, bringing your face closer to hers, however a coughing sound caught your attention. Natasha pulled away, letting out a frustrated sigh, as you turned in the direction of the noise.
“We have a problem.” Nick Fury announced.
