part three
A harsh knock on the door shook Natasha from her thoughts of you. She wasn't expecting anyone so late. She never expected anyone anymore if she was being honest. With light footsteps Natasha made her way to the door, hesitant to open it.
'I know you're in there,' Yelena's voice could be heard from the other side of the door.
'Since when did you knock?' Natasha opened the door revealing her younger sister.
'You look like shit,' Yelena grabbed the vodka Natasha had sitting on the counter pouring herself some.
'What are you doing here? Not that I don't enjoy the company,' Natasha quickly added on the latter, 'I haven't seen you in two years,'
'My best friend came first. Especially when they had their heart broken,' Yelena's words tore through Natasha, if she wasn't already feeling terrible she definitely would be now. Yelena knew everything that happened and helped you right until you left suddenly in the middle of the night with nothing but a letter.
Yelena was upset and angry when she found out you had left without even giving her a proper goodbye. But she was more upset with Natasha. The person who was the cause of her best friend's pain.
'Yelena -'
'No. Don't. At least I was there. Where were you?' Yelena didn't realise how angry at she was at Natasha, even after two years.
'I thought this is what I wanted! I was wrong. Lena, I was wrong and now all I have is this stupid letter,' Natasha crumbled gesturing towards the letter she had placed on the table.
'Took you long enough,' Yelena sighed. As angry as she was she couldn't bare to see her sister like this. Yelena sat down on the couch and contemplated her next move. She didn't want Natasha to find you and hurt you all over again, Yelena didn't want to lose you for a second time. But then her sister was falling deeper into this hole and Yelena didn't want to lose her sister either, 'Here. I have to give you this, it's what Y/N wanted. I'm sorry it took so long, I was just so angry at you,'
Natasha couldn't stay mad at Yelena. If it was the other way around Natasha would've done exactly the same as Yelena. Natasha took in a sharp breath as she opened the letter Yelena handed her. It was a map and drawn on it in your favourite colour marker was a small house with a heart around it. N.R. + Y.L. were the initials written within.
'My happy ending is with you,'
You had drawn this map up the night before the argument with Natasha. You were going to surprise her with the plan, hoping that she would have chosen you. You never got to personally show her this. You hoped that you would be able to but you didn't want to wait around and hope for Natasha to come back to you. Instead you left it with Yelena with no other instructions or context other than, 'only if she needs this.'
Tears threatened to fall down Natasha's face. You had this life planned out, you were going to take care of her and show her all the happiness she deserved. Natasha couldn't help but feel sorry for herself and continue to wallow in this self pity.
'You both need some closure,' Yelena popped back in from the kitchen offering a drink to Natasha, 'That much is sure. Maybe it's not too late for you both to work things out,' Yelena shrugged. She didn't want to allow Natasha's pity party to go on any longer.
Natasha got her laptop and pulled up a map of Norway. The map in her hand was blank but from the words in your letter she had connected it to Norway.
'I've got it Lena,' Natasha finally found where you were. The happiness she felt was outweighing all the nerves and anxiousness she felt. Natasha quickly got what she needed and headed for the door. Natasha's movements were stopped when she felt Yelena grab her arm.
'I swear if you hurt Y/N again. You won't want to come back, Natalia,'
