Bloodlust - Shadow and Bone

/Fem reader/

The pitter patter of the rain outside, soft against the windows. The ticking of the clock, the crackling of the fireplace. Warm and fuzzy, gentle golden glow across the room. Very inviting atmosphere, except you were pacing the floor, circling the room time and time again. You were promised by Inej that you’d be curled up against her by midnight yet you were still awake at this ungodly hour, distracting yourself by any means possible. All your emotions swirled into a pool of one as endless possibilities raced through your head. Anger. Against Inej? No idea. Against Kaz for his stupid bloodlust that roped everyone into this? Maybe. You knew the Crows were loyal to each other and you knew this bloodlust was somewhat justifiable but right now you were too worried to be thinking straight.

You stormed over and pulled on your boots when the door burst open and in stumbled a very much wounded Inej, leaning onto Kaz for support as he led her over to your bed and laid her down. The minute he let go of her, you swung at him without missing a beat, clocking him square in the jaw. You were quite surprised you managed to land the punch, or maybe he was taken off guard, or maybe he let it happen, neither of which was your concern right now. You shoved him backwards, again and again, clouded by fear and he let you until he decided you should be taking care of her instead, so he grabbed both your arms, wrapped them around yourself, and with his arms on top, he squeezed them against you, creating pressure to give you a chance to calm down, which you eventually did after a bit.

Once you had calmed down enough to stop shaking, without another word, you stormed back over to the bedroom, slammed the door shut and rushed over to where Inej was laying and started working on her wounds immediately. In times like these, Saints were you grateful to be a healer. After a while Inej was still passed out, but healed up so you stood up quietly, slightly light headed and went back to the living room, knowing Kaz wouldn’t have left until she was okay.

“She took a lot of damage you know”

Nothing.

“Where is the line to this bloodlust Kaz? The Crows would all follow you to the end and so would I, Saints know where you’d be without a healer. But you need to think of us too.”
You got no response from him but a nod, and that was enough for you for now so you left him and circled back to the bedroom. Inej was still asleep so you pulled a blanket over her, raked over her for any more possible injuries then left her to rest till the morning.
