Earth-1610.
After Kingpin's defeat, the enemies did not disappear.
And Miles is facing one of them at the moment.
But this time, he's not alone: he's (exceptionally) accompanied by Spider-Gwen.
And he is lucky of being her friend !
It helps a lot.
The fight rages on and the hero's enemy attempts his super-omega-hyper-powerful attack.
Despite its name, the attack is taken very seriously by our heroes.
Spider-Gwen is thrown to the ground and as she gets up she is faced with a cloud of smoke,
and Miles is not there!
After several minutes of searching and shouting, Miles is not in sight.
Gwen sees her vision becoming more and more blurry, she does not want to think of the worst situation...
The smoke enters her and projects her images of horrors, memories that she has long tried to forget.
Regrets come to her, she thinks
"I should never have approached him ... I put Miles in danger, because of me I must be..."
Gwen loses her strength, and can no longer keep her eyelids open, her body lowering to ground level.
Yet a light prevents her from reaching the unconscious.
Explosions are heard, but not through Gwen's hearing.
The smoke gradually dissipates, allowing her to open her eyes and see this figure, which she can recognize among millions.
Miles is on his feet, not in great shape but he is pretty much alive.
Her eyes are set on him, and from that point she couldn't contain herself, resulting in her rushing to embrace him.
Landing her arms behind Miles' neck.
Gwen didn't gave herself time to think "what am I doing".
Isn't it natural to hug a friend whom seconds ago you thought gone forever ?
She held on to him as if he was about to shatter, like a delicate piece of glass - and actually he was about to.
"...Gwen ?" Miles wasn't quite sure if it was his friend at first, noting how fast she rushed to him.
"You... are you okay ?"
And with those words Gwen realised in what position she put herself in.
"Yeah..."
Yet she didn't want to back down, scared of losing her friend.
With that, Gwen's heartbeats grew stronger.
Her heart was pounding so strongly and loudly that it felt like her heart was resonating through Miles' chest.
The embarrassment won over her and she pulled over, placing her hand on his shoulder in a very unnatural way : " I'm sorry."
She took her hands off.
" I just kinda thought that you were uhm.. dead for a few seconds". She says, looking at him trying to justify her actions behind her slightly pink face.
" I thought so too" he said, shyly smiling and letting out a light laugh of reassurance.
" I am glad you're okay, spider-boy" she answers, walking away trying to hide the joy behind her blush.
How could I ever do something like that... she thinks to herself.
"Well..." Gwen reaches out to her goober.
"I will get going-"
Before pressing on the button for the passage to Earth-65 to open, a hand grabbed hers.
"Miles ?"
"I'm sorry for scaring you".
As Gwen was searching for words to make him forget her tragic hug moment, Miles' hand softly moved higher, placing itself on Gwen's head.
Resulting in a deathly silence.
"...Did you just pet me ?" she burst out laughing.
"I-I thought it was nice and friendly, you know... stop laughing !"
Gwen's laughter resonates through the empty post-battle city, giving it back its source of life and happiness.
" Do you want me to remind you of what you did, Miss Gwanda professional hugger ? You almost broke my neck "
"Next time don't fake-die"
She says, as her laughter stops.
And Looking away :
"I... wouldn't stand losing another friend."
"Hey - I won't let it happen to you.. I mean to me".
And Gwen's eyes are focused on him again.
"Sorry for making fun of you, Gwanda."
"You just did it again" She says, rolling her eyes.
"Can i have my ride home back ?" Pointing at the goober Miles stole from her hand.
"Oh, so you're leaving ?" He says with a surprisingly disappointed face.
"You won spider-boy. If you want more bad guys and monsters I will gladly give them your address.
But yeah... you don't need my help do you ?"
" Yeah... yeah right, we're done for today" handling down the goober to Gwen.
The door finally opens to her universe.
"Get home safe, I guess" Said Miles, holding the back of his neck.
"Thanks Miles"
Saying so, Gwen delicately caresses Miles cheek, before saying out loud "Wait- why-" but her sentence, just like her, is carried away to another universe.
Leaving Miles' poor breathless heart behind.
And with no time to miss her, he receives a message from Gwen :
" I am so sorry !!!! I got carried away...."
Illuminated eyes, bright smile and head full of memories, Spider-man fly over the city on his web waiting for the next day to come and hoping to see her again.
