Note
A random alternate Infinity War where Loki gets the last laugh.

There was pain in his chest. Some of these "Avengers" had disappointed him, but then there were the ones like, of course, the god whose weapon was now in his chest. And then there was the girl, who had the power to destroy the mind stone. He could almost respect her. He'd read the words on the machine's lips as she killed it. I love you. She had sacrificed as much as he had. He hoped she hadn't watched him kill it the second time.

But now was not the time to dwell on it. "You should have gone for the head," Thanos snarled. He snapped.

For an instant, the god in front of him wore his brother's face. For an instant, Thanos saw the dead god's body floating through space, the intact Tesseract still clutched in his palm.

One last trick from the trickster god.

A whispery voice echoed through his head. Surprise.

Then Thanos felt the gauntlet shatter. The space stone's energy launched though it, sending the stones flying away from him, hovering in the air just out of his reach.

There was laughter in his ears, the laughter of a dead god. And you thought you'd won. Did you really think I would just let you take an infinity stone like that? That I'd just drop it?

Thanos snarled, but the dead couldn't hear him.

Thor shook his head. "Ah, Loki."

Then the axe swung, and Thanos knew no more.
