my petal
She was at peace.
Once again she was found laying on the dewy grass with her eyes closed, there was a pleasant aura surrounding her as if she was in a conversation with the nature around her. The flowing stream rippled lightly in response to her humming, it was a song to which she couldn’t recall the lyrics of.
It was as if she gave life to the nature around her, the heart of the forest, and the reason it thrived as it did.
“Theia!” Someone called out to her. She lightly chuckled at the name, knowing that the village knew her preference to be called her actual name rather than the name that she was given by the humans many years ago.
There was only one reason why someone would be calling her that.
And that reason was, Druig.
She couldn’t bite back the grin on her face as she stood up, gently brushing the petals off her dress before turning to the source of the noise. A few feet away from her stood a teenager who currently nervously played with their fingers.
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she looked around, expecting Druig to be around only to not find him.
“Yes?” She hesitantly responded, wondering what Druig has up his sleeve.
“Uh- he asked if you could meet him in the Field.” The teenager stuttered out before hurriedly rushing away, leaving the Eternal to be left even more confused than before.
The Field was not an actual field. It was a small section of the forest that had been cleared so the crops and cattle could be placed there. If not by the river, she would usually be found with the villagers checking on the crops and looking after the cattle.
Although she hadn’t had a clue what Druig would be doing over there.
She began to make her way to the Field, occasionally stopping to make conversation with fellow villagers. As the view of the Field gradually became clearer, she noticed a dark haired man with his back facing towards her, she recognised him almost immediately, the way Druig carried himself was unmistakable especially for someone like her.
Druig turned as he heard her footsteps approach him, a grin on his face as ocean blue eyes met her own. He couldn’t help but hold back a chuckle as he took her in, recognising the hesitation in her face as she continued to make her way to him. He reached out for her, his hand clasping her own as he led her down the path, attempting to avoid the countless amount of questions she shot at him.
“Are you finally sick of me?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Did you get me a car?”
“And what use would that be of, given the fact we live in the middle of the woods.”
“So you are going to kill me?”
“Petal, will you just shut up for a minute? I'm trying to do something nice.”
Druig was exasperated, stopping his movements suddenly causing the shorter eternal to bump into him. She let out a yelp of surprise before stepping away, staring at him in confusion. Druig simply stepped out of the way from in front of her, allowing her to see what he was hiding.
In front of her were four alpacas, treading lightly on the grass before laying down to rest. She looked back at Druig before glancing back at the alpacas.
“You got me alpacas?” She turned her head back to Druig, grinning.
“Well- I remembered how you said you regretted leaving the alpacas that you had at your old place, and I thought you’d like having alpacas again.” Druig rambled on, uncharacteristically nervous.
Within a blink of an eye Druig was pulled down into an embrace, arms wrapped around his neck bringing his face closer to her own, he couldn’t look away as he watched the smile on her face grow.
Druig was completely enamored by her, even after all these years. Even after spending centuries together she always managed to make his heart flutter whenever she looked at him with that smile.
Of course he’d never say such a thing to her, knowing he’d never hear the end of it.
Druig found himself lost in her touch, the feeling of her arms around him, the way she’d feel like what home would be. In the thousands of years that he had lived on this Earth, the only time Druig had felt at ‘home’ was with her, just the two of them together.
“Wait this one looks like Druig!” She suddenly exclaimed, pulling out of his arms and rushing towards the Alpacas.
“Like me?” Druig questioned in disbelief, trailing behind her as she stroked the animals, keeping one arm around her shoulder. He glanced at the Alpaca causing his eyebrows to furrow even more.
That does not look like him.
“No, not you. The Alpacas I used to own.” She explained.
“You named an Alpaca after me?” He asked.
“Well, yeah. I named them all after you guys.”
