Chapter 9
Shit.
Peter froze and said nothing for what felt like forever as he could feel the look MJ was giving him but couldn’t look her in the eyes to clarify.
He cleared his throat, “Sorry I-I uh zoned out there..I meant to say home alone was my favorite movie. Not yours, but it’s a classic I wouldn’t be surprised if it was your favorite movie too,” He awkwardly laugh trying to clear the tension.
MJ hummed, “Oh ok,” there was uncomfortable silence for a good few minutes before the teenage girl began talking again, “Parker- I know this might seem strange but uh- do I- do I know you? I don’t know maybe we had some of the same classes or something I just can’t shake away the feeling that I know you from somewhere-“
“You do know me!“
Is what he wanted to say.
”I-I-uh-“ He replied with not knowing what to do, before MJ let out a frustrated breath.
”I know I don’t know you well and I shouldn’t bother you with this but- these past few months I can’t shake off the feeling I’m forgetting something and it hurts so much.
I know it’s important and I can’t wrap my mind around what it could be and things have been so weird lately.
But every time you walk into the coffee shop there’s this feeling where I feel like I can tell you anything even though you’re a complete stranger-
I’ve never felt that way with anyone. I am not a peoples person so why am I so comfortable with you?”
MJ blurted out before widening her eyes realizes everything she just shared to this random guy.
Peter frowned, he wanted to tell her.
He promised to tell her.
Not telling her was hurting her.
But telling her could lead to her being unsafe and hurting her more.
He couldn’t loose anyone else especially it being his cause.
He wanted to tell her so bad but he just couldn’t.
”I’m sorry I don’t know you, we’ve never met before the coffee shop.” He said biting back the pain that produced after saying each word.
Memories banged in his brain angrily knowing damn well that was a lie.
Peter stood up and walked out of the coffee shop with MJ leaving left standing there feeling like a fool clutching onto her broken necklace that had meant the world to her but she didn’t know why.
Peter Parker.
She couldn’t get that name out of her brain.
Michelle Jones.
He wished he could get her name out of his brain.
He needed to leave her alone, she’d be better off without him he thought.
But she needed him just as much as he needed her.
He walked over to an ally and threw on his Spider-Man suite, nothing like a good old patrol to get his mind off of things.
Spider-man.
It was his curse that had ruin everything but still was apart of him.
He had nothing left but Spider-Man.
He swung from building in the frosty air searching for crime on his Christmas Day.
Tony stumbled in the house and took off his suite trying to be as quiet as he could to not wake the others.
Harley was passed out on the couch probably waiting for his arrival while Pepper was wide awake staring at him well sitting on the stairs.
”Tony.” She said letting it process he was real and right Infront of her.
”Hey Pep,” He said with a smile and hugged her.
”You made it home for Christmas,” She laughed with tears running down her cheeks.
”Yeah, I guess I did. Ready for that famous Stark Christmas tomorrow?” He said smiling trying to shake down the feeling knowing it wouldn’t be the same without his youngest or his sister May.
Pepper sadly nodded, “May won’t be here to celebrate it with us.”
Peter won’t either.
”That’s alright, she’d want us to have fun and you know that.” He said as he made his way over to the couch and shook Harleys shoulder lightly in attempt to wake the 23 year old up.
He drowsily woke up rubbing his eyes, “Dad?” He croaked out and Tony chuckled.
”Right here sleeping beauty, let’s get you to bed so you don’t ruin my couches.” He lead Harley up the stairs as the young adult passed out as soon as he hit his bed.
Tony laughed and went to his own room Pepper following.
”The beds been so empty without you here,” Pepper said and Tony frowned.
“I’m here now Pepper.”
The next morning he woke up to the smell of pancakes and Christmas spirt, he hoped Peter was going to have a good Christmas visiting his girlfriend.
God he wished the kid could be here spending it with his family like he was suppose to.
