Chapter 12

Steve woke up to a burning white pain that seemed to encompass his entire body. His vision was still blurred and he felt exhausted, like the last bit of energy had left his body.

“Would you look at that, the good captain is awake.” Rumlow sneered.

Steve frowned at him and tried to lift his head, which didn't work out well since he had some sort of metal rope around his neck that was attached to a table. And he was lying on the table. His arms and legs were cuffed to the table as well. His gaze was pointed at the ceiling.

“Nice seeing you again.” He murmured. Rumlow grinned. Steve turned his head as much as possible and took in his surroundings.

The room was large and next to him was another long table with things that looked like chemicals, knives and torture devices. Wonderful. This was going to be great.

Rumlow was the only person in the room except for Steve. There was a door but it was closed.

“Where are we?” He asked. He didn't expect Rumlow to answer him but it was worth a try.

Rumlow turned away from him and picked something up from the table.

“Technically I could tell you, you're not going to run away anyway.” Rumlow said.

Steve's frown deepened and he felt his stomach drop at the implication but he didn't say a word.

“Don't worry, we'll sedate you for most of the surgeries.” Rumlow said.

“Surgeries?” Steve looked at the man who now turned towards him again.

Rumlow held a long sharp knife in his hand, in the other one he held a syringe. “We'll start soon.” He sat down on a chair at the head of the table where Steve's head was. “I'm just preparing everything.”

The door was opened and five people entered the room. All of them were clad in white coats.

Rumlow looked up. “See, they're here already.”

“What are you doing?” Steve asked, his brain still not working completely.

Rumlow grinned at him maniacally. “They'll be doing tests on you. Experiments.”

“Why?”

“You know exactly why. We know that you're already experienced in experiments. Basically you are one, so there won't be a problem with this, right?”
Steve frowned and tried to move away, but the restrains weighted him down heavily.

“You're a science experiment, nothing more.” Rumlow sneered. “And there's a lot we want to find out about the experiments that were done to you in the past.”
