Summary
The alarms screech in the lab. The machine is going to blow. The recruit is still in the mechanical coffin. The nurse stays behind to free him. He seals the door in her face, panic etched into his features.She begs them to please open the door.Everything goes bright and then dark.

This is basically an origin story drabble for my version of a female Captain America, named Helen Rogers. I have more writing about her, both in the works and already posted.

Helen Rogers prepares Gilmore Hodge for the serum. He finds excuses to touch her.
Alarms screech. The would-be Captain America is trapped in the mechanical coffin. As the SSR scientists evacuate, she stays behind to free him.
He seals the door in her face, panic etched into his features.
No. No. No no no.
“Please open the door!”
“Help me!”
“…Please.”
And then it all goes bright and then dark as the machine explodes.
Helen Rogers wakes up.
She is strong, so strong. She is not in pain.
“Freakishly strong woman.”
They say it was a waste of the serum.
