Summary
For the Day 19 prompt "Building a blanket/pillow fort" in the Twitter Holiday Challenge  Sequel to "Sunshine and Snow". Sam and Bucky find ways to comfort their daughter during a bad storm

The storm outside was fierce. Winds were at an all-time high, causing tree limbs to slap against the windows. Five year old Emma Rosalie hid her head under the blanket in an attempt to drown out the noise. The little alpha did her best to be brave, but after a rather nasty flash of lightning, she jumped out of the bed and ran down the hallway to her parent's room.

"Mommy! Daddy!"

Bucky instantly jumped up out of the bed, going on alert for any intruders. When he saw it was only his daughter, the tension bled out of his shoulders and he bent down and picked the girl up off the floor.

"What's the matter sweetness?"

"The storm's too loud mommy, I'm scared."

Bucky cradled her against him, allowing calming pheromones to permeate the air. It wasn't long before a pair of arms snaked around him as his husband nuzzled the bond mark on his neck.

"What are my two favorite people up to?"

"Emma's having a hard time with this weather."

"Well we can't have that," Sam said as he moved around to take their daughter into his arms," Hey babygirl, you want to sleep with mommy and daddy tonight?"

"Uh-huh....can we make a pillow fort?"

"I think that can be arranged...Buck?"

"I'll get the blankets and pillows."

                  *************

Between his army experience and omega nesting instincts, Bucky was an expert at fort building. He knew exactly how many pillows and blankets were needed to make something both sturdy and comfortable.

He went down to the hall closet where the extra linens were kept, and grabbed several items before returning to the bedroom. Sam had already set up two chairs to build the foundation on, so Bucky took care of the rest. He made sure that the blankets that carried his scent the most were towards the bottom, that way their daughter would be instantly calmed when she laid down on them.

"That's one good looking Fort,Buck."

"Of course it is, I take my blanket tent structures very seriously, now get in here you two."

Emma crawled in first, snuggling up against her mother and inhaling the omega's calming scent. Sam got in on the other side of their pup and wrapped his arm around both of them.

"Now this is what I call cozy, what do you think   babygirl?"

"Very cozy, Daddy!"

It seemed like the rest of the night would go smoothly, but a huge crack of thunder had Emma whimpering and hiding her face against Bucky's shoulder.

"It's alright dollface, that bad old storm won't bother you."

"It's too scary, mommy."

The Omega hated seeing his little one so upset, so he started singing an old tune that he had sang to his sisters when they were young.

Little jitterbug don’t cry

You’ll be swingin’ by and by

You are just a tiny tot

And until you’ve grown a lot

Your rattle will have to do

Little jitterbug go slow

You’ll be rockin’ ‘fore you know

Daddy won’t be home ‘til dawn

When he left, he took his horn

Someday you will have one too

If you’re like your Pa,

Sonny, you’ll go far

My you’ll look grand

Leadin’ a band

Foolish it may be

But this dream’s on me

And it’s for you

Make it come true

Little jitterbug it’s dawn

Dream a dream of Daddy’s horn

If you’re good and go to sleep

He will give you one to keep

Little jitterbug go sleep

Sonny, go to sleep

Swing will always keep

When you’re of age

You’ll top the page

Listen to your Ma

'Cos she taught your Pa

His swinging is true

Yours will be too

Little jitterbug it’s dawn, ah-ha-ha,

Dream a dream of Daddy’s horn

If you’re good and go to sleep

He will give you one to keep

Little jitterbug, go sleep,

Little jitterbug, go sleep.

He looked down after the last note and saw that his little jitterbug was indeed fast asleep. He pulled one of loose blankets up over them both before leaving a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Sam watched the whole thing with fond amusement.

"I didn't realize I'd married a crooner."

"I'm just full of surprises."

"Oh yeah," Sam murmured as he leaned over their daughter to press his lips to Bucky's," anything that I should be prepared for?"

"Just one thing,really."

"What's that?"

"In about oh...seven and a half months or so, we're going to have to start building forts big enough for four."

It took a few seconds for Sam to understand what he was being told, but when he did his eyes bugged out.

"You mean you're?We're?"

Yes Sammy, we're having another baby."

The Alpha wasted no time gathering the omega as close as possible without squishing the child sleeping inbetween them. He couldn't believe how lucky he was. Not only did he have a wonderful mate and child, but now another pup was on the way.

He couldn't have been more blessed if he tried.

"I love you, Bucky."

"I love you, too, Sammy."

Sam snuggled down into the covers with his family in his arms, and drifted off to the sound of raindrops as the storm began to fade.
