They were in MJ's room when Ned had one of the best ideas of the day. They were preparing to start a movie marathon, Ned and Peter choosing the film while MJ and Y/N were preparing the popcorn and drinks. They were all in a good mood, the holidays had just started, they didn't have any homework and no adults in the house to bother them. When suddenly Ned shout in the bedroom, startling Peter and the girls in the kitchen of the house.
"Hey Ned, what happened!" the girls were running into the bedroom while Peter looked at him as if to understand what was going on.
"Yeah Ned, what's going on? Why are you screaming like that?"
"Hey guys I've got a genius idea!" He was now stood up in front of the tv while Peter was on the ground rummaging through the various CDs.
They all sighed in relief, nothing too bad had happened. Ned just got an idea.
"Don't scare us like that dude!" Y/N had hit his arm. "I thought something had happened.
"Yeah dude, I thought you hit your head or something." Now it was MJ's turn to speak.
"No I just go this fantastic idea, see, we're gonna watch movies together and eat and drink right?"
"Yeah, that's why we're heating popcorn right now." MJ said, waiting on Ned to expand on his thoughts.
"I was thinking that we could put some facemasks on each other's faces. We do that at home with my lola when we're watching criminal minds. I've got these ones with cucumber and honey in them. They make your skin soft."
Ned had then started to ramble about skin care, and though it was really interesting the popcorn was already done. Peter was already prepared to refuse when the girls agreed to it.
"Maybe not-"
"Yeah why not that's really a great idea Ned!" Y/N really wanted to do it, at been a while since she had used them.
"Yeah lets' do it." And now MJ was agreeing too. She never got to do it with friends before, it was sort of a new experience.
Ned and MJ had already put the masks on and were waiting on the other two to put they on.
Peter was nervous, he had been crushing on MJ's cousin for a while now. She was like a breath of fresh air. She was always nice with everyone, even to the ones that she didn't like. For example Flash, she hated him but at the same she knew she couldn't do anything against the guy. She wasn't one of the most privileged person in his high school. She actually got in because of MJ's mother who treated her like her own child. Though they were cousin, MJ and Y/N really acted like sisters.
-"You're gonna keep looking at me like that or you're going to apply the mask?" Y/N said giggling.
Now that all the ingredients were mixed together; they were supposed to apply each other's masks. And as of right now Peter had been 'admiring' Y/N's face for the past two minutes. Not that she minded, it's just that the paste was gonna harden and it was then gonna be very difficult to put them on.
-"Uh, ye-yeah, I'm gonna apply it. Sorry, got lost in my head." Now, he was even more nervous.
Now that he was applying the paste onto her face, he wanted it to look perfect, if he was in this bathroom applying facemask on someone it had to be his best work.
To Y/N it was cute to see him that focused on something other than science fiction. His eyebrows were creased and his lips formed a pout. It made her smile a bit. It was cute okay, beside she had a bit of a crush on him too. Ever since Decathlon, she realised her crush the day she saw him in his yellow jacket. To her he was cute, it suited him.
" Hey lovebirds, I'm kinda hungry so hurry UP !" That was MJ, she really was hungry.
"I know I'm the one the suggested the masks but, yeah I agree. I want to eat those too." Now that was Ned.
MJ had made those popcorn bowls and now they were turning cold because they couldn't decide what to do with themselves.
"We're coming promise !" Now Y/N was speeding up the process on Peter's face. Now that she was looking at him he had really nice eyes. Nice brown eyes.
"The mask really suits your face, you know ?" That the stupidest thing you could've said. Peter thought, he could've said anything but it had to be about how you looked good with a mask on.
While he tried to hide his face in embarrassment you felt your cheeks heat up. Fortunately, Peter wouldn't be able to guess that you were blushing thanks to your skin and the mask. That would've been embarrassing.
Once the both of you had their mask on, you two decided to head back to MJ's bedroom to finally start the marathon.
Now the lot of you were sat in front of Harry Potter, the only film you all had agreed to watch. It's not that the others movies were boring or anything; it was just the only one that wasn't a horror movie.
Right now the scene that was being played was when Harry met Dobbey in his 'room'. Everyone was clearly focused on the film except two people. Ned and MJ, they had their plan. Obviously this movie marathon didn't appear in one of them out of thin air. They organized this day in, in order to reunite their respective best friends.
They had known for a while that Peter and Y/N had a crush on each other for the longest time. Both of them were just either too awkward and too shy to make moves. It was truly sad to observe. And so as the best friends they were they had this entire day planned out. Until now everything had gone as planned, they prepared the drinks and food. Ned 'had the idea' of putting face masks on each other, and now they were all watching Y/N's favorite genre of movies. You see they had acted strategically cause right now, the lovebirds were sat next to each other while Ned and MJ were on Peter's and Y/N's right and left.
Everything was going accordingly.
When the film was coming to an end, the sun was already setting and it meant all of them going home. Except for Y/N of course, she was sleeping at MJ's place that night. They hurried to wash their faces of the masks. And once they were done Ned spoke up.
"That was so cool! We should do that more often." Ned said excitedly. That was really a time to remember. The thing was that he should have left with MJ to leave Peter and Y/N some space.
"Ned I'm gonna show you out, seems like your grandmother's here." MJ said looking to Ned as in to make him remember to stick to the plan.
And apparently it worked as he hurried out of the room following MJ outside to his grandma.
"Okay, that was definitely weird, right?" Y/N asked, why were they looking at them like that. Beside, she knew her cousin pretty well. The tone of her voice meant something. Maybe she was hiding something from her.
"Yeah, Ned looked extra nervous when leaving." Peter said, a smile on his face.
A little time passed before Y/N broke the silence.
"Pete, there's this new exposition downtown about special effects in cinematography, and I thought that it would be cool to go with a friend. MJ isn't gonna be able to come so I thought the next best person to go with me would be you. I totally understand if you don't want to go though." Now she was playing with her hands. She did that a lot when nervous. She was nervous and scared of MJ catching her poor attempt of asking her crush out. To a stranger's eye, it could look like a girl asking her friend to hang out; but to MJ's eyes that would've been her cousin asking Peter Parker on a date. And she would've been right.
"Yeah, I would love to go! You just have to tell me when and where and I'll be right there." He was actually happy that she was interested in it. Because, him too, had planned to go to the exposition. He would've loved to spend the day with her. Imagine the luck he would have to be able to spend the day with his crush. He was already blushing when she started telling the time and place. He hopped she didn't notice.
"Okay, great. It's on Monday and actually located near the school I'll send you the coordinates." She did.
While she told him that MJ was already back in her apartment. She just wasn't in the bedroom, instead she was listening to what the two were saying inside. She was very happy that her cousin had grown the gut to ask him out. It felt like dropping your child at school on the first day. They grow up so fast.
