Chapter 4
Third POV:
After Brooklyn left with Pepper, all the heads turned to Tony. „Ok guys stop looking at me like that, I know you all shocked and all that jazz but I have really no nerve for that right now.“
„Oh no Tony. You are not getting out of this one. Care to explain what that was ? And why you never told us about her ?“ the captain asked.
„To be fair I haven’t told anybody about her not even Pepper or my dear Honeybear over there.“
„Yeah, I would also really love to know why Tony.“ Rhodey said in a very accusing tone. „Listen, 16 years ago I had a one night stand. You all know about my playboy years. We were drunk, didn’t know each other and wanted to have some fun. Next morning we woke up she left and we both thought we would never see each other again. 9 months later she stands at my door with a baby in her arms claiming that it’s mine. I did all the tests and it turned out she was saying the truth. I‘m not going to take her in and she said it’s fine as long as I pay child support, which I did. I even paid more. I visited them sometimes for the first 3 years, spent some time with Brooklyn. Then her mother and I got into an argument about the child support and basically it ended with her screaming me away and telling me to never bother them again, and that’s what I did. I left and never looked back. I made sure to erase every mentioning of her being my daughter anywhere except her birth certificate, so that no one, especially no enemy, could find her. Now she’s here. I don’t know what happened in the past 13 years and why she wants to get emancipated but I can‘t allow that. I know I’m no father you guys don’t need to tell me that. But she’s 16. She’s to young to live completely on her own. If she’s here I can atleast make sure she’s safe and has everything she needs.“ After his monologue, Tony first needed to catch a breath. Looking up he saw his teammates being in deep thought. Then Natasha spoke. „I think you did the right thing taking her in. I don’t know what’s going on with her but somethings wrong. She is very good at controlling her emotions, I couldn’t get a good read of her. Maybe if she’s here, we can bring her to open up a bit.“
Tony really hoped that. He couldn’t forget the cold look in Brooklyns eyes. He wanted to know what happened to her. How her life went, god until today he never allowed himself to think of her this long, but now that he did he realised he wanted to know everything about her. And it broke him even more when he realised he knew nothing, and it was his own fault. Clasping his hands together he straighten up. „Alright. That was all very fun, but I‘m going to the lab now. Peter it’s also time for you to head home before May rips my head if because you came late to her dinner. Friday call Happy up so he can take him home.“
„Right away boss.“ the AI answered. Snapping out of his daze the still shocked teenager scrambled to pick up his things. Saying his goodbye to the team he went into the elevator, having only one thought on his mind

After following Pepper out of the living room Brooklyn quickly found herself in front of a sleek door. Pepper turned around and faced Brooklyn. „At the moment this is simply a guest room, but we can change it to whatever you like it so it can become more personal. We’re currently in mine and Tony’s floor so our bedroom is right at the end of the hall. The other have their rooms on the avengers floor. Peters is also there, he was the boy, he’s also 16 so you two may get along with being the same age.“
„Sure cause all teenagers miraculously get along simply based on the fact that they are teenagers.“ Brooklyn answered sarcastically. Pepper was shocked for about two seconds before she remembered that this girl is Tony Starks daughter, even if she doesn’t really like it, and it seems that the sarcasm is genetic.
„Well who knows, maybe you are all connected because of this fact, I guess we need to wait and see.“ she said in her sweet voice she always used when Tony started to get snarky. With that being said she pushed the door open and gestured Brooklyn to step in. Stepping in the girl looked around. It was a wide room with a big bed in the middle. There was a window front on one side of the wall that hold the view over whole NYC. It was astonishing. Pepper was right the room looked like what you would expect a rich guest room to look. A hotel bed with white sheets. A grey carpet on the floor and a strange painting on the wall that most likely costed more then most people Brooklyn new earned in their entire life’s. „What do you think ?“ Turning around at the question the girl simply shrugged. „Fine I guess.“
„Well like I said we can do Arrangements later. Now I‘m gonna leave you to rest, if you want you can join us for dinner, Steve is making his famous potato casserole.“
„Yeah thanks.“ and with that the woman left, closing the door gently behind her. Hm. So that was the famous Pepper Potts.
One thing Brooklyn needed to give her credits for. She took the whole, finding out you fiancé had a secret love child with stride. Even though some could argue on the love aspect of the whole thing. Sighing the teen plumped on the bed. She looked around again. The day really didn’t turn out how she planned to. Don’t get her wrong she knew following her Father and trying to get a signature out of him could go wrong. Her plan wasn’t really good and had a lot of loopholes, but she didn’t had much time left so she just went for it. She imagined a lot of different scenarios, starting with Stark calling her mother to him simply ignoring her. But never in her right mind would she have imagined that he would make her decide wether to live with him or with her mother. And it doesn’t matter how much she despises that man, she would never go back to that place. She put up with her mothers shit long enough, but enough is enough. And if getting away from there meant to live with that idiotic asshole of a father… well she learned from a very young age that everything comes with a price and this one she was even willing to pay.
Getting her phone out she texted her friend Kelly that she won’t come to school for a few days but she shouldn’t worry about her.
You sure everything’s fine ??? It’s not gonna be like last time right ? (Kelly)
Right. Last time she wasn‘t at school for a few days, she returned with a black eyed, bruises all over her body and a few broken ribs. That was‘t fun, like at all.
Yeah I’m sure. Not at home. Tell you everything later but no worries I‘m fine. (Brooklyn)
After texting her friend, Brooklyn turned her phone off and took her shoes off. She definitely wouldn’t join the Avengers and her father for dinner. She was tired and totally not in the mood for the awkward and tense atmosphere that would definitely be there. Instead she found a set of guest pyjamas in the closet. She changed real quick, took her laptop out and started some random series on Netflix to distract herself from everything. After a few hours and ignoring Fridays message that dinner is ready and she is very welcomed to join, she drifted of into a restless sleep.
