Chapter 5
Tony was right about only having stragglers within a week. He told them to act like normal when they went to school and work. By Wednesday, another more important story had come out about other celebrities and they’d only occasionally have people drive past the house.
They had adjusted living together all three of them, many of Tony’s belongings scattered around the little house. Tony pulled his own weight, basically buying everything they needed and helping to cook and do the dishes without being asked. Harley and Peter weren’t eager to kick him out. They actually enjoyed the company, besides learning that they would have to be quiet during sex. They put the pieces together Tony gave them odd looks for a few days after the first time they had sex with him in the house. None of them explicitly mentioned it, but things went back to normal quickly.
But Tony was getting bored. Peter and Harley had to stop him from “fixing” random things in the house. He needed a fix to ease the need to build. So during the day when the boys were at school and work, he would go back to the tower and spend time in his lab, occasionally coming home with something new for the house.
Home? Tony didn’t mean that. He totally didn’t mean to think that. He was a guest.
After a month, Pepper had found herself a place near the tower. Tony felt like he was overstaying his welcome, even though Peter and Harley seemed comfortable with him being there, not trying to push him out. They had their own routine. Someone, mostly Harley, would make everyone breakfast, Peter went to school, Harley went to school or work, Tony went to the tower to go to the lab or a meeting, they’d come home, have dinner, watch TV together, and go to bed. He was included in (almost) everything.
Tony still felt like an intruder, though. Especially after the incident where he jerked off to Peter and Harley having sex. They didn't know he was jerking off to them, but that almost made him feel worse. He’d feel better if they knew the truth and continued to have him live there, but he had a feeling he would be taking that to his grave.
He was thinking of ways to talk about their living situation when he got a call from Natasha. She and the boys were back from their mission in Europe, Thor was coming back down, and she was about to call Bruce. She asked if he wanted to come to the tower to have a little party, a way to celebrate their mission and just get back together, all of them.
“I heard what happened between you and Pepper, Tony. Just come by, have some drinks and relax a bit. I’ll even try to get a hold of Wanda to see if her and Vis can come by.” Natasha spoke with a tone that would sound cold to others who don’t know her, but Tony knew she was being genuine, thinking he needs to be cheered up. “I’m doing fine, Romanoff. I’ve been doing good.” He said as Peter walked into the kitchen where Tony was on the phone. Harley was at work for a bit longer so it was just the two of them.
“I know you’re staying with the boys,” the only reason Tony didn’t ask how she knew that was because she probably did her own research and found out within 30 seconds. “I think they should come too. Peter hasn’t been to an Avenger’s party yet and I think Steve would feel better about him being the legal age to drink now.” She explained. “Harley isn’t. Old enough to drink.” Tony said, not knowing why he was trying to get out of having a party with his friends who were basically family. Peter’s eyebrows scrunched together when he heard his boyfriend’s name being mentioned in a conversation with Natasha. “Harley doesn’t have to drink and Steve doesn’t need to know.” She said simply.
He wasn’t getting out of this, he knew that. Especially because he could tell that Peter was curious now, and that Peter would bring Harley into it. “I’ll call Bruce and Wanda. Thor will be here tomorrow, party would be Friday. Don’t say that you’ll think about it. Don’t think about it.” Natasha hung up before Tony could come up with a response.
“What was that all about?” Peter asked, eyebrows still scrunched. “We’re invited to a party. Actually, we have no choice. I hope you guys don’t have plans this Friday.” Tony answered with a tone that was serious but playful. Peter’s face turned into immediate excitement at Tony’s response. “We’re going to an Avenger’s party?” Peter asked excitedly, Tony could practically see the joy running through Peter’s veins. Tony nodded and couldn’t help but smile widely as Peter jumped up and down. He liked that Peter still felt wonderment at anything superhero related, especially considering he was one. It was refreshing.
He jumped onto Tony and wrapped his arms around his neck in a hug. “Thank you thank you thank you!” He repeated. Tony wrapped his arms around Peter’s waist and tried not to think too hard about the touch. “Thank Natasha, Pete.” He said playfully. Peter didn’t move. “I miss Natasha. I miss all of them but…” Tony knew what Peter meant as his words were muffled by Tony’s shoulder.
When Peter became an Avenger, Natasha became another mother figure to him almost instantly. Clint had made the joke that it was like a spider code. Natasha was the first person he came out as gay to. It made Tony a bit jealous, that he went to her first, but seeing them interact made him realize that maybe it was just that kind of bond. Peter was like the son Natasha couldn’t have. Peter was Natasha’s soft spot. Natasha was his mother in the superhero world, just like May was his mother in the normal world. Tony was glad Peter felt safe with her, and knew that Natasha was glad too.
“I know, and I know she misses you too.” Tony gave him a little squeeze before stepping back so he wouldn’t get too caught in those… emotions, feelings, whatever you call it. Peter pulled back too, excitement still wild in his eyes. “Ned’s gonna freak out! Wait, I don’t know what to wear. Harley isn’t gonna know what to wear.” Peter spoke rapidly. Tony laughed again. “We can figure that out when Harley gets home. You’ll need some party clothes.” Peter’s eyes widened. “Party clothes?” He whispered.
It was then that Harley walked in the front door, still dirty from work. “Honey, I’m home!” He said, clearly exhausted but still happy to see his boyfriend. “We’re going to an Avenger’s party!” Peter shouted and ran up to give Harley a hug. “Wait, tonight?” Harley asked, confused by the situation but still holding Peter close to himself. “No, no no. Friday, but you’ll need clothes.” Tony clarified. Harley nodded and gave his boyfriend a kiss on the top of his head. “When are we doing that?” He asked as Peter pulled away to look at Tony.
“I was hoping I could get you fitted for suits tonight and we can get them rushed to be ready on Thursday.” Harley looked down at his grease-stained jeans and equally as dirty shirt. “Can I shower before we, like, do that?” He asked. “Please do.” Tony said with a smile as he tried to ignore the way Harley ran his hands through his sweaty hair. Harley gave a smile back as he walked back into the bedroom he shared with his boyfriend. “Suits? Like SUIT suits?” Peter asked. “They’re not that fancy, Peter, but still kinda fancy.” Tony said. “You can have them for any other events you could need them for.” He explained. Peter nodded in understanding. “Do we need to dress up to get fitted?” Harley stood in the doorway with only a towel around his waist. “No, go shower.” Tony said hastily, turning around to look away from the practically naked man. Out of the corner of his eye, he could tell Peter was running his eyes all over Harley’s body.
These boys would be the absolute death of him.

Half an hour later they were in the car on the way to Tony’s favorite tailor shop. Peter sat in the passenger seat this time (“It’s only fair, Harley”) and he had his hand on the center console, with Harley in the middle of the backseat and holding Peter’s hand. Peter was still rambling in excitement because they were getting fitted for suits for an AVENGER’S PARTY! Tony didn’t have to look at Harley to know that he was giving Peter a look. It was the same look he gave Peter every time he got excited about something, affectionate and soft.
Okay, maybe Peter was the soft spot of many people.
The tailor shop was very sophisticated, black walls with red velvet curtains for changing rooms and matching red velvet couches. The tailor himself, named Julian, embraced Tony with open arms and a wide smile. “And who are these fine young gentlemen?” Julian asked Tony, motioning to where Harley and Peter were standing nearby. Tony went behind the younger men and put his arms around their shoulders. “These are my wonderful friends, Peter and Harley, and they need some suits!” He said enthusiastically, matching the energy Julian had while gesturing to them. Julian nodded.
“Come with me, please. Any ideas on what you would like?” The older gentleman asked while walking them to a changing room near the back of the shop. As they walked, both Peter and Harley looked at Tony for an answer on what to say. “Whatever they want.” Tony replied, giving the boys a smile. “Of course, of course, let’s start with you, Harley.” Julian was already in his zone despite them walking in unannounced. Harley followed the man to a large podium with mirrors on one side, pulling a roll of measuring tape out of his pocket and slipping the glasses that were previously resting on the top of his head onto his face.
Harley stood there awkwardly; the last time he got a suit was for senior prom and it was from the local thrift store, he was out of his element. Peter laughed behind his hand at Harley’s facial expressions as he got measured. “You gotta get measured too, Pete. I wouldn’t be laughing if I were you.” Tony whispered in Peter’s ear with a playful tone. Peter’s face went slightly pink, Tony was sure it was at the idea of having to be next on the podium.
Peter’s face was still flushed when it was his turn to be measured, Harley just smiling instead of laughing. The only reason why Peter’s spidey suit was so fitted was because Tony had scanned his body, he never had to have someone manually get all of his measurements. Once they were done, Julian led them to a room with multiple suit jackets with matching pairs of pants, all in different fits, styles, and colors.
Peter’s eyes were immediately drawn to a red velvet jacket with black accents, the shade of red being slightly deeper than the one that made up his spidey suit. Tony could see the gears turning in Peter’s head and smiled as ideas popped into his own head. As Peter went up to the jacket he was eyeing, Harley made his way to a similar one, albeit a deep shade of blue instead of red. Even subconsciously, they complemented each other. Oh God, Tony, stop thinking too hard about their relationship!
They both individually looked to Tony for approval, who nodded and smiled. “You should try them on first to make sure, though.” He advised. The younger men both picked their choices from their racks along with pants before they both went into changing rooms to try their picks on. Tony couldn’t hold back a small smile when they both came out. He didn’t even care that the suits weren’t fitted yet, they looked amazing.
Julian came up and pinned where things needed to be changed, occasionally asking if they wanted things to fit a certain way. Harley just kept looking in one of the mirrors almost the entire time, not used to seeing himself in something so… sophisticated. Yeah, he felt good in the clothes he wore daily, they were his style through and through, but seeing himself in such a nice item of clothing was something he wasn’t used to. He felt good, it made him understand why Tony wore suits often.
Then they were back in the changing rooms, putting on the clothes they came in with. Julian walked towards him, notepad in hand and his usual big smile on his face. “It’s on me.” Tony said in reference to the price of their suits. “Of course, of course. They’re very handsome, you’re a very lucky man, snagging two of them.” Julian said with a laugh. Jealousy and confusion went through Tony’s brain. “We- I’m not-” His explanation was cut off by both of the younger men opening their curtains and coming back out.
As Peter and Harley walked back over to the older men, Tony looked back at Julian, deciding to change the subject. “Will you have them by Thursday?” He asked Julian. Julian nodded. “Of course, I’ll have them ready by Wednesday if you’d need them!” He answered enthusiastically. Tony handed Julian a 100 dollar bill and smiled. “Thank you for helping us today.” He said and shook his hand. The two younger men smiled politely and nodded. “Not a problem, you’re always welcome here.”
“Let’s head out, boys.” Tony pulled his hand back and made a gesture to the front door. He couldn’t help but think about how Julian called him lucky. He was, he knew he was, he just sort of wished he was lucky in the way Julian thought he was.
