The snow beat against the window of your small loft apartment, the cry of an infant stirring you from the book you where so engrossed in "Two households, both alike in dignity,In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;" you always loved Romeo and Juliet, yet somehow by some magical mystery the universe had decided that's the story should be more than just a story but a mirror to you're life.
The crying of your little baby needed to be tended to. Rising from you spot on the sofa walking over to the crib in the room, looking down at the fussy little thing tears staring their chubby little cheeks, gingerly picking them up to see what was wrong checking the time you realised it was about time for their food while carrying the poor little thing to the kitchen you made them a bottle careful not to make it to hot for the little one. Once they had calmed down and been burped they lay in your arms those big brown eyes staring up at you soft tufts of light ginger-brown hair of their little head. They looked like just like, a mirror of your late husband.
It's was a few weeks ago, he had the big presentation of his fusion reactor you wished you could have been there for him but there was no one to look after the baby having to stay home. You saw what happened on the news it all went so wrong he was presumed dead after the accident. Still not over what happened, you had promised him an amazing night once he got home in time for dinner, you had made his favorite that night. Still remembering the last time you saw him like it was just yesterday, he wore his best suit ready hair freshly washed and styled suit pressed to perfection. It almost reminded you of how he looked when he stood at the alter, it was the best day of your life. He promised you he'd be in time for dinner, leaving with a kiss.
Now you where alone to take care of your kid. Humming softly you hoped it would put them to sleep.
"let me sing a lullaby,
as you close your eyes
and as your drifting off to sleep
how i hope that the dream that you find
are bright"
Gingerly bouncing the baby in your arms to lull them further into rest, memories of the love you lost played on your mind. The nights pulling otto away from his work to get some sleep, the days spent dancing in the kitchen to music on the radio as you cooked together. Burning tears welling up in your eyes at the memories played out.
"love can we meet again soon in the bluest of sky's?
where a tomorrow waits for you and i?"
Images of the both of you in the apartment playing like ghosts of days past, curled up in ottos lap with a blanket around you both as he read Romeo and Juliet to you falling asleep in his arms to the sound of his deep voice playing in your ears.
"so hold me tight one more time
but dont kiss me goodbye"
Stolen kisses in between the both of you as you danced in the pouring rain, being to late to escape it. It rained on your wedding day, the reception being held outside, at a lovely forested area, the clouds had rolled in just as you started your first dance started, being to engrossed in each other to notice the other guests fell fo shelter. Dancing happily in the rain without a care in the world. As long you where in ottos arms everything would be alright.
“cause i know that ill see you on the other side”
His hair stuck to his forehead, your makeup running down your face, he dipped you as the music faded out. Staring deep into his eyes. A deep drown colour you could drown in, leaning down to kiss you. The kiss sending electricity through every nerve in your body and your heart souring.
“i will think of our song when the nights are too long
i’ll dream of you for that’s where i belong”
The night you lost him you died inside, the dinner was left cold. Tears burned your eyes, face burned red and puffy. You think the baby might have known something was wrong, they cried too. Having to be tough for the little one you pushed back your tears in order to help the little one, but tears still spilled over regardless of wether you wanted them to or not the pain and heartbreak to much for your poor soul for it.
“love can we meet again soon in the bluest of sky’s?
only… in my dreams do we meet again”
Brought back to reality as the song ended, the baby now sound asleep in your arms during, the tears had spilled from yours without even noticing. Drying them quickly before putting them back in your crib to let them rest. Something moving in the corner of you eyes at the window. Dismissing it as just the snow you prayed to whoever was up there that you would see Otto again some day. Getting your book from the sofa where you had left it before ans heading back to your bedroom to get some sleep as it was late into the night.
Your voice was hauntingly beautiful to otto as he watched you from behind the window. He hated to see you cry over him, it truly broke his heart, but he had to stay away form you no matter how much he wanted to embrace you. He had become a monster, metal welded to flesh, dyed red with innocent blood. It was for your own safety that he stayed away, he couldn’t evolve you and the little one in what he has become. Hiding behind the wall when you turned around. Leaving the little bit of heaven he had behind.
