Summary
Kate surprises you with a trip to her favourite archery range

'Kate!' As soon as Kate stepped into your shared apartment she was met with a fake bow stuck to her forehead, 'I'm you,'

'There can only be one me,' raising her eyebrow at you while she removed the fake bow.

'I'm just like you. Maybe even better,' You laughed out, hanging your plastic bow on the rack below Kate's favourite bows. Kate scoffed, she had been gone too long on her last mission and didn't expect to be attacked as soon as she walked through the door.

Though you always amused her with your antics. Recently, you'd been interested in everything Kate does. But her bow and arrows was your favourite topic to hear her talk about. You loved how she could ramble on about anything and everything. Kate noticed your interest in her archery, to which she had set up a surprise for the two of you since you both had the next day off together. You hadn't seen each other in a while, so the perfect excuse to be close to you for an entire day seemed like a perfect idea.

'I'll take you to use a real bow and arrow then we'll see if you still say that,' You yelped in surprise when you felt her hands on your waist. Instantly relaxing into Kate's embrace, 'I missed you,' she husked just below your ear, placing small kisses along your neck.

'Why don't you show me how much you missed me,'

------------------------------------------

'Y/N/N wake up,' Kate whispered while gently shaking you trying to wake you up, 'please wake up,' you looked so peaceful while you slept. Kate admired the way your chest fell with each breath, how your lips were parted slightly and your hand that always found hers while you two slept.

'5 more minutes,' you groaned, cuddling into Kate's side. Kate smiled looking down at you. Placing a kiss on the top of your head causing you to smile. Every time your smile dropped, you felt another kiss replacing your blank expression with another smile.

'I have a surprise for you,' your eyes shot open and you looked up to Kate expecting her to continue, 'Next time I'll lead with that,' Kate muttered to herself noting the way you perked up, wanting to know what the surprise is, 'You'll have to wait but the faster you get up the faster you'll find out the surprise,' Kate trapped you in her arms, smothering your face in kisses.

'Kate, stop, I want to get up,' You whined struggling to get out of her embrace.

'But you wanted 5 more minutes,' Kate teased you, quoting your words from earlier. You struggled around trying to get ready as fast as possible, which was impossible with Kate holding you for those extra 5 minutes you previously wanted.

'Yes, I won, I'm free,' You stuck your tongue out at Kate once you got off the bed, after she had reluctantly let go of you.

'I let you go,'

------------------------------------------

'Kate where are we going?' You were bored of being in the car, wishing you could teleport to your destination. You loved surprises, especially ones from Kate, but you hated waiting for them and not knowing anything about them. Which would ruin the point of a surprise as Kate told you many times while you continued to get it out of her, 'I can act surprised,' Kate just shook her head and continued to drive.

'I just have to make a quick stop,' You saw the sign and assumed you had to stop to pick up something to do with her bow and arrows. You were surprised when Kate asked you to come inside with her. You were looking around at all of the things you didn't understand but thought were cool. Did you think they were cool because Kate was interested in them? Yes, anything Kate did you loved.

'For you, my love,' Kate returned, handing you a bow that was seemingly the perfect size for you. Your eyes were wide and your smile grew as you saw the inscription on the inside, 'Kate's Sunflower,' along with the date when the two of you made your relationship official, 'Happy early anniversary gift,' Kate leaned in and kissed you softly. Once she pulled away she led you down a hallway and out the back to an archery range, 'You didn't think I'd give you a bow and not teach you how to use it. Firstly, take an arrow and shoot it,' You raised an eyebrow at Kate's instruction, 'I have to see what I'm working with,'

You shot a few arrows without any guidance, missing the targets completely each time. Kate was trying to keep her laughter in which she failed to do when you turned around frowning, 'You said you would teach me,'

'It's all about your stance. How you stand sets you up for the rest of the shot. And I love you but you aren't even close to having the right stance,' Kate tapped her chin while looking over your current stance and your hand positions on the bow. You knew you didn't have it right when you looked at Kate before and saw how she was trying not to say something earlier.

'You can't just say I love you and hope it'll make it better,' Playfully rolling your eyes, you motioned for Kate to continue to help you.

'You have to stand strong. Be strong,' You mimicked how Kate was standing.

'I am strong,' You challenged.

'Oh really?' Kate barely nudged you and you went to fall to the ground. Luckily for you Kate predicted it and stopped you from completely falling.

'Hey,' You pouted causing her to pinch your cheeks and give them little kisses.

'Stop being so cute,' She knew her words would make you smile, which you did instantly. Once you found your strength and Kate wasn't able to knock you over anymore she tried to explain how to hold your hands and aim at the target. Kate sighed as you kept missing, clearly becoming frustrated with yourself.

She quickly moved so she was pressed up against you, your back to her front. Your heart started racing and you forgot how to breathe. Her hands ghosted yours, moving you into the right position. There was a ringing in your ears, every part of you that was touching Kate was all you could think about.

'Y/N/N? Hello? Are you even paying attention?...you're not paying attention,' Kate's voice rambling helped you clear your head, 'I'm trying to teach you and you aren't listening to me. Why aren't you paying-' Kate suddenly went silent and you could just imagine the smirk that was painted across her face, 'Ohh,' you rolled your eyes at the tone of her voice. You could only imagine how inflated her ego was knowing it was your reaction to her touch that stopped you from paying attention, 'If you're good and pay attention then maybe later,' You nodded as Kate whispered lowly in your ear.

You turned your head and smiled at Kate, in return she placed a quick kiss on your lips before returning to teach you all of her tips and tricks to shooting an arrow perfectly. Kate went through the motions with you a few times, helping you aim and giving you pointers here and there. With Kate's help you were now managing to hit the target, still far from the centre. Every time you hit the target you turned around and puckered your lips. Kate never missed a beat in giving you the kisses you deserved.

'Show me how it's done,' You handed the bow and an arrow to Kate, standing back watching exactly how she did it. Taking notes so you could prove to her that you could be better than her one day.

'And that's how the world's best archer does it,' Kate blew the end of the bow as if it was a smoking gun she had just fired, 'Uh,' Kate held the bow above her head as you tried to grab it, 'My reward,' you smiled as Kate pulled the same face that you had been making towards her. You leaned in giving her a quick kiss.

'This one is going to hit the centre,' You were confident which piqued Kate's interest, 'I can just feel it in my bones,' Kate laughed as she watched you get ready for the shot. You flinched and closed your eyes as you released, sending the arrow flying towards the target. Not wanting to see the arrow miss the centre you turned around and opened your eyes.

You were met with the biggest smile you had ever seen on Kate's face, 'Baby look,' You turned around to see what Kate was pointing at. Your eyes widened in disbelief. You had actually managed to hit the target. Your smile was just as wide as Kate's when you turned back to face her. It was like time had slowed down, you were processing it all, in one day you had gone from missing the target completely to hitting the middle. Even if it was a fluke, you were still proud.

Kate was also proud of you as she wrapped her arms around you, picking you up and spinning you around, 'My lil archer,' Her eyes were full of love as they looked at you. She kissed your nose while putting you back on the ground.

'Watch out I'm coming for your title,' Finger guns pointing towards Kate, she loved to see this side of you. You were just as competitive as she was though you were able to keep it to yourself more than her. Though the moments when you let yourself be free and completely be yourself around her were the ones she adored the most.

'Maybe one day you'll be as good as me,' Kate emphasised the word 'maybe' so you wouldn't get any ideas. Kate had to protect her reputation she couldn't let you get too good too soon.

'I'll be better,'
