The dreaded ID badges trope
"Alright Midtown!" Suki exclaimed, "I'm Suki, I use she/they pronouns and I'll be your tour guide for the day!
Peter kind of knew Suki, enough to know that she was a fairly new PR intern. Harley dealt with that side of the company much more than he did anyway.
Peter smiled at Suki regardless and they smiled back, albeit looking a little confused, before turning away to continue welcoming his class.
"Anywayy, I hope y'all are excited for today. I can tell you I sure am. In fact, I'll let y'all in on a little secret, this is actually my first tour I've given. So we'll get to explore together a little bit," she continued dynamically, most of the class (read everyone but peter and MJ) bobbed their heads at her enthusiastically.
"We've just gotta get y'all through some security checks and give you all your badges for today."
Ned nudged Peter with his shoulder conspiratorially, "Isn't it so cool that we have our own badges? Flash would be so jealous you know."
"i know Ned but really I don't care what Flash thinks. I just want to get today over with,"
"wow that's the spirit nerd", MJ interjected very helpfully, appearing next to Peter suddenly.
Peter ignored her and returned his attention to Suki's speech. It was, too be honest, a bit boring for a kid who regularly sleep and took dumps in the tower but its not like that was Suki's fault. So, he tried to pay attention, he really did, until he got a little bit distracted. You see, he was about 99% sure he had just seen a 6'0" man with a metal arm shimmy around a desk and proceed to sprint down the hallway. So really, would anyone blame him?
Apparently, Mr. Harrington would.
"Peter, pay attention. Your classmates are already through security. I expected better from you today."
Turns out he was in fact telling the truth and his entire class was watching him from the other side of the security gates. Of course this was happening, he never should've let his guard down.
Suki seemed to notice what was happening and addressed him, "Mr Parker, just collect your named badge from the table and walk through.
Oh jesus, he wished it would be that easy.
"I- uh I have my own badge actually", Peter replied a bit awkwardly.
"yeah totally penis we alll believe you", Flash called.
"Oh um okay then", Suki continued, somehow ignoring Flash, "just attach it to your shirt and walk through".
Peter's spidey sense was going a bit haywire. Everyone was watching. And whispering. Jesus he hated his so called superpowers sometimes. At least most of his class only seemed mildly curious. Curious was no doubt a step up from the honest to god giggling Flash and his friends were doing.
It was fine. It was going to be totally all the way fine. Absolutely no need to stress or sweat or something equally as embarrassing. This is what he wanted anway, right? No one would question him now.
He looked up to see Ned's thumb in the air, gulped, pulled his badge out and stepped through.
