I hope you know what you are doing
The Avengers were called into a meeting by Nick Fury. Everyone sat in the conference room at S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ. As usual, no one knew what was going on nor what to expect of the meeting. Fury walked into the meeting with a straight face but sent a tiny glare in the direction of Tony Stark.
“ Why doesn’t he glare at anyone else?” Whined Tony.
Fury laughed half-heartedly. “ Because Stark you annoy me the most,” he told him honestly then cleared his throat. “ We have a situation involving these two 25-year-old women.”
In the middle of the table, a holographic video played of a woman fighting with some security guys at a bank in England. She had an hourglass figure, brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a gray top layering it with a dark green bomber jacket, in black leather jeans and black combats. Tony felt his blood rushing through his head as he stared intently at the holographic. He knows that woman. It’s impossible to forget that exact face when he grew up seeing her around the house in picture frames when growing up. He barely realized that Steve spoke until Fury had answered.
“ Who is she?” Ask Steve, looking at Fury.
Fury thought for a moment. “ Her name is Michaela. Assassin,” He explained. “ She was an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. a while back. A mission had gone wrong and Hydra got a hold of her. She was one of the best of the best in the academy.” He couldn’t be more right than that. Tony thought. He’s heard stories about them from his aunts, his dad, Jarvis, and Ana. Heard the sadness that was always present when talking about her along with her sister. Remembered longing to have met them. Remembered the promise he made with his aunts that he would continue his father’s search for them when his parents died, that he would bring them home. Now he got that chance to keep his promise. To bring them home.
“ So what do you want us to do?” Clint asks curiously.
“ I don’t want you to kill her. All you need to do is find her and bring her here so we can keep them safe. Others are after her and this place is the safest place for her to be in,” Fury told them.
“ Why is she so special?” Tony played his part. Pretending to not know anything about the women on the holographic.
“ Her DNA is very important, and she's a miracle, she shouldn’t be alive,” Fury told him. Tony knows that Fury doesn’t know his relationship with the first director of S.H.I.E.L.D. or his relation with that woman. “ We’ve had a tip-off, they’re currently hiding in an abandoned theatre in Birmingham, you will leave in an hour. Meeting closed.”
Fury quickly left, making his way to his office where Maria Hill was. He completely ignored her, knowing exactly what she was going to say to him. He went on his computer and began sorting things out.
“ Did you tell him?” Hill asks. Fury’s silence gave her the answer she didn’t really want. “ Sir with all due respect, Captain Rogers has a right to know that one of those women: Michaela is his daughter. They share the same skills and abilities.”
Fury glares at Hill. “ Rogers is not ready to find out his 25-year-old daughter was born in ‘45 and then was kidnapped by Hydra in ‘70, then was put to sleep for nearly 40 years. Hydra managed to re-create the serum and created three deadly assassins.” Fury growls. “ Rogers doesn’t completely trust us and we need him to!”
“ I hope you know what you’re doing. When Steve finds out, he will not be happy,” Hill said quietly, leaving the office.
TONY’S LAB
“ J.A.R.V.I.S. get me S.H.I.E.L.D. files on Michaela Martinelli,” Tony told his AI, tapping away on the computer.
“ Sir, I have found that Michaela Martinelli was born as Michaela Carter, daughter of Margaret Carter and Steven Rogers. Born in 1945, Manhattan, New York. In 1970, Michaela Martinelli was kidnapped by Hydra,” J.A.R.V.I.S. tells him. He already knew all of that. He needs to delete those files.
Tony shook his head. “ Yeah Jay, I need stuff on her activities, give me something,” he demanded. He needed to know what he was getting into. He needed to make sure that the secret remained a secret, which means doing whatever he needed to make every single file on those women disappear or to be restricted to everyone but him and his family. He doesn’t know what will happen if the secret gets out but he knows that he will do whatever it takes to protect them and bring them back to their family.
“ Sir, there are records of her being around ‘90s, ‘02s, ‘05s, and now. Records of her as Shadow. She has a companion known as Eclipse. Eclipse as known as Margaret Martinelli,” J.A.R.V.I.S.told him. Dammit, Martinelli. He curses. If anyone were to connect them to Martinelli, Angie’s cover would be blown as well as Peggy's. He knows one person who would snoop around and he can’t let her know the truth.
“ What are you doing huh?” Tony mumbled to himself. He rubs his forehead. They’re dangerous, powerful with the serum running in their veins. But he also knows that they have connections especially with their mother being a mafia boss which he hopes they’re able to use to aid them. The man of iron was not loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D., he’s loyal to his family, his family who built S.H.I.E.L.D. So if he has to choose one or the other, he would choose his family.
“ J.A.R.V.I.S.restrict all files that contain Martinelli and Carter. Mine and my family’s eyes only. No one can ever know,” Tony told him and watched every single digital file on Martinelli and Carter get restricted.
“ Yes, sir!”
Tony left the lab to get suited up. He’s going to need to call Angie right after this mission. But first, he has to make sure that his family does not kill his team.
