Inazuma
1 Year after the Destruction of Khaen´riah
On the Island of Narukami stood two Womens apart, one was a Great Beauty with rather Pale Skin and Purple Hair, braided into a long Braid that goes the Womens Back down, she has light blue eyes and Lightning cracks around her. She was the Electro Archon “Baal” . The other Person is another Woman with Shoulder Length Red Hair and Her eyes are yellow with multiple red rings within them, she has a great Aura that Screams Death she is the Goddess of Death Maruna.
A Year ago the Nation of Khaen´riah was destroyed by the Seven Archons, and Baal lost her Other Half her Twin Sister Makoto. Since that Day the Archon seeked for Answers for that, she searched for the Goddess of Death a Powerful Goddess that is everything that has ceased to exist. And now here a Year after the Destruction the Goddess of Death appeared in Inazuma and Baal confronted her. But Maruna never once said something and then Baal started to form Lightning but it didn't even phase Maruna she doesn´t need to Fear because if she dies everything will die with her so Powerful is her Power.
Baal: I don't know if you think this is some kind of Joke to you? but if you don't want to answer me then i will force the Answers out of you.
Maruna: …. I do not know if you think you are more Powerful than me, you may have killed some lesser Gods but never once stood you face to face with Death.
And once she finished her sentence a Powerful Lightning Bolt slammed into her, Baal thought she got the Goddess but once the Cloud of Dust settled down Maruna stood there without even a scratch and an arm outstretched forwards.
Maruna: Not bad my dear Baal but I think I need to put you into your Place.
Outstretching her Arm again a Powerful Invisible Force pushed Baal onto her Knees. Baal was surprised to say the least, but it was not over yet within a blink of her eyes Maruna vanished and Baal was just barely able to block a Strike from Maruna with her Polearm. Maruna continued to attack Baal and Baal was on her Defense. But you can say that Maruna wasnt a Battle Experienced Fighter at least not with the Sword. And Baal was able to fight back, vanishing within a Lightning Bolt Baal attacked Maruna fast and agile.
Baal: You have surprised me with that fast attack of you but you are not so experienced with your Sword Art.
Attacking once again Baal summoned a Big Storm, a Storm so big that it covered almost every Part of Narukami Island. A Storm so big that it was felt by the other Archons.
In Mondstadt:
In the Woods under the Ground lies a sleeping Barbatos the Anemo Archon and God of Freedom he felt the Chance in the Winds and in his Sleep looked for the Source of the Change. When he got the Information of the Wind that Baal is currently fighting against the Goddess of Death he was surprised.
Barbatos: ‘So she is fighting against Death itself, you are definitely a Crazy Woman Ei’
In Liyue:
On top of Qingyun Peak stood the Geo Archon Rex Lapis known as the God of Contracts who is referred as the Oldest of the Seven Archons. He saw the Lightning flashing across the Sea when he had Tea with the Adepti and immediately flashed on top of the Mountain.
To say he was surprised is a Understatement to be able to see a Storm across the Sea is indeed something he never saw in his Life and to be able to feel it just shows how Strong Baal was at least currently for a Short Time
Rex Lapis: Im Suprised, to think that she holds this much Power
In Inazuma:
During the Fight against Maruna Baals Man began to evacuate the City, the Battle between Baal and Maruna was so fierce that it was crushing when Maruna released her Aura only strong enough to withstand the Storm that Baal is currently creating. On the Top of the Grand Narukami Shrine stood a Young Yae Miko who is Baals closest Subordinate and she thought what Baal is currently doing is Stupid
Yae Miko: You may be Strong Ei but definitely not strong enough to fight against Death
Yae even when the Odds were against Ei still hold for Hope that Ei will not die
In Sumeru:
The recently new Dendro Archon Kusanali was too Young to understand what currently is happening.
In Fontaine:
In the Main Court Building of Fontaine sits the Hydro Archon Focalors known as the God of Justice who was holding a Court Hearing when she felt a Treamous Power of Electro and she immediately left to Look what is happening and she was more than flabbergasted when she saw A Big Powerful Storm above Inazuma
Focalors: Hm, the Lightning tries to strike Death but Death is more Powerful than Lightning ever should be
In Natlan:
On Top of one of the Highest Mountains stood the Pyro Archon Murata the Goddess of War and knows as Lady of Fire she too felt the Power of Electro but she was not able to see the Storm
Murata: A Storm so Powerful that even i can feel it here. Must be a Fierce Fight be that is going on in your Nation Baal, should at least have invited me along *pout*
In Sneznaya:
On her Throne in the Zapolyarny Palace sits the Cryo Archon (I don't think we ever got to known her Divine/Archon Name, and i think she founded the Fatui some Years after the Cataclysm so i don't think she is using “Tsaritsa” currently) she was able to feel the Storm but she too wasn't able to see it
Cryo Archon: Must be interesting what is happening in Inazuma
Coming back to the Fight
Baal finished summoning her biggest Storm in her Life just as Maruna summoned her counterattack. Maruna summoned a Big Spear that was infused with the Power over Death and at the Same Time both unleashed their Attacks and thus creating a Big Explosion that sended them both across the City. Baal crashed into the Doorsteps of The Tenshukaku and Maruna even with her Power over Death crashed into the Streets of Inazuma City.
Baal was trying to get up but was to Weak to do so. Meanwhile Maruna just recovered her Strength and got up and within Seconds run with a Speed close to Lighting to Tenshukaku and once she arrived stood above Baal and was close to bringing down her Polearm but she was stopped when a Army of almost 200 Shogunate Soldiers surrounded her with Yae Miko at the Front
Yae Miko: I think that's enough, surrender and we will be merciful.
Maruna just stood there with a dumbfounded look in her Eyes and thinking that Yae was Crazy.
Maruna: *Turns around and looks down on Baal* I think you learned your Place “BAAL” never attack me again or you will suffer worse than today, and to your Question. I did know that she would die that day but as my Duty as God of Death I'm not allowed to interfere when a Death is written down in my Book of Death. I would have saved here but i can't just abandon my Role as Death and make a Exception for her
Indeed Maruna knew that Makoto would die in Khaenriah because it was written down in her Book of Death once a Name is written Down the Person is not able to Life past the Time the Book chooses. Sure Maruna is able to manipulate and change the Book but she actually fears what will happen if she does it thus she only will use it when absolutely necessary.
Maruna kneels down and whispers into Baals Ears something that only the Two heard.
Maruna: I'm really sorry my dear old Friend that I was not able to help her but you must understand that if i did it i would probably mess with the Domain of my Dear Sister and that is something i fear rather big. *Turns around and Whispers* Forgive me Ei
Thus Maruna walks toward the Shogunate Army but before they arrive Shadows start to come out of the Ground and surround Maruna when the Shadows die down Maruna was nowhere seen and disappeared.
Yae walks towards Ei and helps her up and takes a Place beside her on the Ground.
EI: I was foolish. I thought I could take her on and was hopelessly crushed by her. *With a Voice mixed with Sadness and Anguish* I just wanted Answers from her but she didn't say anything. She just stood there with her Eyes glowing and not once answering and now who she crushed me with her Strength she answered. And to think she was a Good Friend.
Yae: Yes foolish indeed but still i could see it in her Eyes she didn't want to Fight you but you forced her Hands when you attacked her with that Lightning Bolt.
Yae and Ei both stood up and left the Scene and are dealing with the Aftermath of the Fight
In a secluded Space on Celestia
In her Palace in Celestis on her Throne sits the Goddess of Death Maruna, one of the Four Shades of Phanes. She isn't good at Emotions so she left Inazuma as fast as Possible, that Fight broke more of her Heart than everything else she didn't wanted to fight Ei but Ei forced her Hands.
What may surprise you but Maruna and Ei’s Sister Makoto were more than Good Friends. Maruna met Makoto during the Archon War and Maruna was immediately fascinated with the Woman and chose to watch her and thus she creeply watched Makoto and Makoto found her. To say it was Awkward after that between the two is an understatement there was Tension. And thus a Friendship was formed between the Two at the End of the Archon War Makoto became the Electro Archon and got one of the Seven Thrones of Celestia. She formed a close Relationship with Maruna and someday Feelings began to Bloom but not only for Makoto but for Maruna too. One day on a Picnic under a Sakura Tree Maruna was actually the first to Confess and Makoto followed.
The Two became Girlfriends and were on many secret Dates. One Day Makoto asked Maruna if she wants to become her Wife and Maruna without a Second Thought accepted. The two secretly married and thus became Wife and Wife and after almost 2000 Years being a Couple with many Ups and Downs the Two had a rather big fight one that was simply stupid but it caused something that to this Day is the biggest Regret Maruna has. She chose to follow her Duty as Goddess of Death and then it happened the Book of Death glowed with a Purple Light and Makoto's Name was in the Book

Maruna was shocked for sometime and then she simply raged she destroyed her Room and her Things because she wasn't able to interfere with this and it destroyed her Mind.
Since that happened she chose to Apologize to Makoto and spend the Rest of
Makotos Time with her. And then the Day came where Celestia summoned the Seven Archons and as one of the Rulers of Celestia she would had the Power to exclude Makoto from the Summoning but Makoto declined at said “If all Seven are summoned its Important” and Maruna feared and when the Destruction of Khaenriah happened she felt it in her Very Soul.
Living 2000 Years with your Wife it’s normal to form a Soul Connection to the Other Person. She felt how Makoto's Soul was getting Weaker and she didn’t care if Celestia ordered her to remain in Celestia she didn’t follow the Order and arrived in Khaenriah Destruction around her. But she was focused on Makoto and only Makoto, she didn’t even feel when her Crushing Aura that even Whole Nations tremble under her Feet was released. She simply walked towards Makoto's Limp Body and took her into her Arms and rocked her Forth and Back to calm her down.
Maruna: *In a Broken and Voice than was Mixed with Sadness, Grief, Anger at herself* I'm so Sorry so, so, so Sorry please please just hold on. You can't just leave me when I finally know what Love is.
Makoto: *In a Weak Voice* Haha, you stupid Moron. Don't be sad, I think I was ready the whole Time since you apologized to me because I knew immediately that something was up and one day I looked secretly into the Book of Death and saw my Name. I didn’t say anything because I knew that you would Change the Book if I asked you but I was Ready to die so i just Chose to show you for the remaining Time how much i Love you. So live on for me and don’t follow me so fast.
And thus Makoto died with a Happy Smile on her Face. Marunas Grief was so hard that every Enemy that approached her was turned to Dust when they came into her Auras Range. Maruna gently picked Makoto’s Limp Body up and carried her all the Way back. In Inazuma Ei asked what happened but was met with Silence and Maruna vanished not noticing that Tears were leaking from her Eyes. She buried herself in her Work in Celestia not knowing what was happening on the Other Side of Celestia between the Sustainer and Two Travelers.
Now coming back to the Present
The Battle between Maruna and Ei was Hard for Maruna because Everytime she looked at Ei she only saw Makoto's Kind Smile and Loving Face.
Makoto asked her once if she would protect Ei even when they have a Hard Time.
Makoto: Hey Maru? (Maru is the Nickname Makoto uses for Maruna) if something ever happens to me, can you protect Ei for me? She only thinks as a Warrior and not as a Person.
Maruna: I, I think i can but nothing will happen to you
Now on her Throne Maruna once again broke a Promise she made to Makoto. And it breaks her Heart because what she said to Makoto that Day was nothing but the Truth she would have protected Ei but with Ei annoying her about what happened in Khaenriah after Ei left Makoto's Body to fight against the Enemy, Maruna just snapped.
Maruna: I really was a Bad Wife *A cracking Voice* Why did you just have to leave me Alone? You were my Light to the Darkness and you were the Part of me I forever searched. And then that stupid Book chose you to die. And now I just destroyed my last reminder of us. I lost you Makoto, I lost my Heart the Day you died and were not sleeping beside me in our Bed. And now I destroyed my Friendship with Ei.
Maruna was broken inside and she loved Makoto more than everything she would have given her Godhood just to live in Peace with Makoto. But Fate was not Kind to her.
Maruna was getting tired so she walked into her Bedroom and changed into her sleeping clothes and laid down onto her Bed. Even now she still misses the Company of Makoto for Makoto was her Cuddling Partner and in some way her Pillow. And thus once again Marunas Eyes are filled with Tears but Maruna just closes her Eyes and slowly with Happy Memories drifts off to sleep not knowing before her Bad Stood a Woman with Long Purple Hair and a Pink Kimono she wore a Sad Smile looking at the Sleeping Goddes.
Unknown Woman: I'm Really Sorry my Dear, but one day you will find happiness again after and you weren’t a good Wife you were the Best you were selfless for me and never wanted something. You loved me more than you loved yourself and that makes me Happy. That I needed to leave you so early is sad but I will forever stay inside your Heart. My dear Wige

Who was the Secret Woman?
Hey, how did you find this One-Shot? I actually wrote this with some Scenarios in my Head but i choose to go with the Makoto Scenario. I'm not a really good writer and this is my First Story so don't be too Hard on me. I first had a Lumine Scenario in my Head but I thought there was not many Makoto Content. And so I chose to write a small/long? One-Shot with Makoto Angst.
Marunas Appearance is based on Makima from Chainsaw Man and that Invisible Force that she used on Ei was inspired by Satoro Gojos Infinite and Makimas Powers.
Makima is one of the Strongest Beings in Teyvat due to her Power over Death but she didn’t use her real Strength during the Battle with Ei.
You may be confused why I used “Baal” more than Ei. That is because I wanted to seperate the Identity of “Baal” the Warrior and “Ei” the Sister of Makoto.
Yae in her small Part used “Ei” because she knew that the current “Baal” is not the Original Baal
Venti too used “Ei” but he probably knows of it by the Winds
Maybe I will write a Second Part that will play in the Future but currently i don't plan on one.
I wrote this btw at 2 AM(German Time) so many things are rushed
