going home

Wednesday and Reena were silently standing in Principal Weems's office. All their things were packed and in the Addams' car, leaving them to think about their late principal. Although funny enough, Wednesday and Reena had completely missed the small-talk part of their relationship, so they had no idea they only give twenty minutes from each other. Because of this, and the fact that Reena's parents wouldn't be able to come to get her, they were gonna carpool back home.

As the two were standing there, Enid came in and joined them. "I hate to admit, but I am gonna miss Principal Weems."

"She was a constant liar," Reena pointed out. "But I actually liked her. She reminded me of myself in a way."

"She could be a real pain," Wednesday added. "But she was tough. And she died for the one thing she truly loved, this school. For that, I have immense respect."

"She was one of us," Enid agreed, leaving it at that. The three girls made their way downstairs to the lobby. "Now that classes are canceled for the semester, you have to come visit me in San Francisco. I can pretty much guarantee fog and drizzle every day."

"Sounds tempting," Wednesday replied.

"I'll be there," Reena assured. "I wanna take your werewolf brothers down a peg and see their faces crumble."

"Oh, I see my parents," Enid told them. "I'll see you guys next year!"

As Enid left them, the two remaining girls spotted Xavier on the balcony. "Come on, you two haven't talked since you tried to ask for his help after putting him in jail."

Wednesday followed Reena upstairs, getting to Xavier quickly. "I hear you're a free man now."

"For now," Reena joked.

Xavier nodded. "Yup. All charges dismissed. Listen. When I was in the cell I said a lot of... things. Being your friend should come with a warning label. But... I don't know a lot of people who would take an arrow for me. So..." Xavier handed her a box. "Welcome to the 21st century, Addams."

Inside the box was a cell phone, and when she saw it, Reena laughed. "Oh, this is gonna be fun to teach you."

"My number's in there already," Xavier added.

"That's a bold move," Wednesday noted. "I hope you're not expecting me to call."

"No, never," Xavier denied. "I'd settle for a text, though. You know what a text is, right?"

"Goodbye, Xavier." Wednesday left.

"Hey, are you going to be back next semester? Yes? No? Maybe?" Xavier yelled after her.

Reena shook her head. "I'm not even gonna apologize for her behavior anymore, that's just how she is. Trust me, I'll call you over break and I'll make Wednesday at least text you."

Xavier hugged her. "Thanks, Reena. Coming back next semester?"

"You know it," Reena confirmed, checking the time on her watch. "Shit. I gotta go. Wednesday's my ride and she told me if I wasn't in the car by ten I'll have to walk."

Xavier smiled. "See you next semester."

"You too!" Reena called back, running down the stairs. She hurried into the Addams' car, Wednesday already there.

"I thought you weren't going to make it," Wednesday confessed as Lurch started the car.

Reena shrugged. "I can't walk that far. Also, you remember when I asked you on that date in Crackstone's crypt before everything turned to shit?"

"I do."

"Well, you didn't give me an answer."

"Oh. Then, my answer is yes."

"Cool," Reena tried to be casual about it. "A black and white movie?"

Wednesday smiled a little. "You know me very well."

Shortly into the ride, Wednesday's phone dinged, so Reena looked over her shoulder. "Who texted you?"

"An unknown number," Wednesday answered as she opened the text. The person had sent photos of Wednesday with Reena and the words 'I'm watching you'. After that, they sent a GIF of a cartoon Wednesday getting a knife through the head.

"That shit's creepy," Reena commented.

"It's exciting," Wednesday corrected as she put her phone down. Beside them on the road, the truck carrying Tyler, all chained up, passed by. Little did they know, the Hyde isn't held well by chains.
