some time away
The group ended up back at Tyler's house. Wednesday, with her surprising medical skills, with fixing up the gashes on Tyler's chest.
Tyler winced. "Thanks, Doc."
"Not to make this about me, but I am having a full-blown panic attack now," Enid informed them.
Reena got up, holding her arms open to Enid. "Come here."
Enid accepted the invitation. "We need to get back before Weems realizes we've been gone."
Sheriff Galpin walked through the door a second later. "What the hell happened?" His eyes went to Wednesday. "This was you, wasn't it?"
"Wait, Dad, please," Tyler stopped him. "I'm okay."
"Sheriff, I understand you're upset, but I think you need to see something," Wednesday told him, referring to the body parts in the basement.
"Fine, you can show me whatever you feel is so important," the Sheriff settled, his eyes moving to Reena, Enid, and Xavier. "But you three you need to go back. Now."
"Of course, Sheriff," Reena agreed without resistance.
The three left quietly, all their minds still reeling over the evening they had endured.
Enid sighed. "I'm gonna go stay with Yoko for a bit. Probably at least a few days. I need some time away from Wednesday after this."
"That sounds like a good idea," Reena muttered. "Hey, Xavier? Can I... stay with you? I've been too over my head with this murder shit with Wednesday."
"No problem," Xavier accepted. "Come over whenever you need."

When Wednesday returned, she didn't expect to see her two roommates packing. "Where are you going?"
"Yoko's room," Enid answered. "Thornhill said I could crash there for a few nights."
Reena grabbed some clothes from her closet. "I'm going to Xavier's. He still has that extra bed from when Rowan... you know."
"There's no need," Wednesday pointed out. "I spoke with Weems. You two and Xavier won't be punished."
Enid zipped her bag. "Am I supposed to thank you?"
"I already apologized. It's over."
"Tonight was the icing on the birthday cake you couldn't even be bothered to cut. You'll use anyone to get what you want, even if it means putting them in danger. We could have died tonight because of your stupid obsession."
"But we didn't," Wednesday denied. "And now I'm one step closer to solving this case. That is what is important.:
Enid sighed. "I've tried really, really, really hard to be your friend. Always put myself out there. Thought of your feelings. Told people, 'I know she gives off serial killer vibes, but she's just shy.'"
"You didn't have to because that's what friends do! They don't have to be asked. The fact that you don't know that says everything. Enid grabbed her bag and stormed out of the room. "You want to be alone, Wednesday? Be alone."
Wednesday's attention went to Reena. "Look, Wednesday. It was fun playing detective for a while. Really, I mean it. But if something happened to Enid, or Xavier, or me, or even you, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Hell, something already happened to Tyler! I'm not saying I'm done being your friend or helping you with this. I'll I'm saying is I need a break."
"Nothing is going to happen to me," Wednesday claimed.
"Well, I can't be sure of that! And it's not just about you! It's about everyone I care about. All of my friends. My family." Reena took a second to collect herself. "I'm gonna go before I say something I regret. All I want you to know is you made a bad choice tonight."
Reena took her stuff and left through the window. She climbed her way to Xavier's window, knocking on it when she arrived.
Xavier came and opened it for her, letting her in. "Hey. How did your talk with Wednesday go."
Reena put her stuff down and sat on Rowan's old bed. "I don't even think she feels bad about what happened."
"I guess that's just Wednesday Addams."
"I guess it is. But, really, thanks for letting me crash here for a bit. I don't think I can stay with her right now."
"Trust me, it's no problem," Xavier assured her. "Now, The Outsiders or Ferris Bueller's Day Off?"
Reena considered it. "I need some happiness right now, so totally Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
Xavier smiled. "You got it."
