Iron Man & Scarlet Witch
Wanda is confused as hell. Granted, she has been confused by many things since she moves in and joined The Avengers, but she would never imagine, that she would one day knock on Tony Stark’s door.
Tony Stark, a man she once blamed for the deaths of her parents and the most awful moment of her own life.
A man who she tried to kill, and he gave her a home in return. Well, not give her a home, he gave it to The Avengers, but she somehow became a part of that team.
Wanda isn’t stupid. It was him, who get the government and all of those who wanted to see her locked up, off her back.
Living with The Avengers is 100% better then living on streets of Sokovia, or with Hydra on some castle-like base in middle of nowhere.
But she would lie, if she said that she wasn’t annoyed with how people are treating her. She doesn’t have the best grip on her powers, she never did. They act as if they had mind of their own and sometimes do something, Wanda doesn’t control.
The training Natasha and Steve prepared for her and force her to go through isn’t working, but they aren’t listening to her. For some unknown reason, Steve fixated in his head, that she is a kid and now, everybody except Vision and Colonel Rhodes act as if she really was a kid.
She is 26 old for fucks sake!
She hasn’t been a kid since those bombs landed in her home, but nobody cares about that and it annoys her to no end!
Maybe that’s why she accepted Stark’s invite and came here, despite the fact she hated him for the most of her life. Stark never treated her as a Kid and now he is like her.
Different. Younger. Stronger and Enhanced.
She is fascinated by him. Not only because he looks hot right now, but because he is clearly more powerful then Steve in physical strength, and even has his own set of special abilities.
Fire powers kinda suit him..
She couldn’t resist and tried to read his mind, only to metaphorically run head first into a thick brick wall.
It shocked her, because it never happened before, but what shocked her even more was that he knew, that she tried to get inside his head and he wasn’t angry or scared. Instead, he was amused and even teased her about it.
Tony Stark is a fascinating mystery and Wanda Maximoff wants to solve it.
If only she could stop being so nervous now…
The doors finally open and Tony leans against the doors with an teasing smirk plastered on his face. “Hello Red.” His eyes quickly drop to her clothes and he chuckles. “You look well.”
Wanda just blinks at him, checking him out from down to top. “You are wearing that thing even in your home?”
Tony’s smirk only widens. “Want me to take it down?”
The left shoulder of his Suit starts to turn into liquid and slowly run down his chest, giving her a peek on his naked skin underneath the silver suit.
“Okay stop!” Wanda shouts, blushing and shaking her head in disbelief mixed in with amusement. “I was just asking if it is really so comfortable as it looks.”
“It is more comfortable then those clothes you are wearing.” Tony comments, stepping to the side, letting her go in his apartment. “I admit, you surprised me Red. I didn’t really thought you would come alone.”
“Why not?” Wanda turns back to him with a small smile. “You made it clear that only I was welcomed. The only question is why?”
“I see you are right into the business kinda girl.” Tony remarks, smiling back. “It’s a shame that Natasha doesn’t trust you so much.”
“What do you mean?” Wanda questions with narrowed eyes, as Tony slowly walks up to her, going into her personal space.
She stands there completely frozen to her spot, her mind literally blue-screening as Tony runs his armored hand on her back, suddenly smiling in triumph as he takes a step away from her, and holds a small device in his hand.
“Natashalie bugged you, Red.” Tony says, looking at the device in his hand with a small glare. “And she used my toys to do it…”
“Why would-?” Wanda starts to ask herself, looking down with burrowed eyebrows, feeling enraged.
“Because Natalia Romanova doesn’t trust anyone.” Tony quickly answers her question, destroying the device in his hand. “She had all members of The Avengers bugged from the moment we “reunited” after SHIELD’s fall. She has a need to know everything and probably wanted to know what we are going to do here.”
“And what are we going to do?” Wanda asks, looking at him with genuine curiosity. “Why did you invite me here, Stark?”
"That's Tony to you, beautiful, and to answer your question…” Tony trails off. “I invited you because you were curious.”
“Curious?” Wanda questions, dumbfounded.
“Yes. You are curious why you can’t read my mind and the answer is this.” Tony taps on the Arc Reactor in his Suit. “The Reactor is based off the Tesseract’s energy and The Scepter or The Mind Stone, if you will is connected with that stupid Cube in a way. Thus making me immune to your abilities.“
Wanda swallows hard. “So if you had your suit in Sokovia…”
“You would probably be dead..” Tony finishes for her, walking to sit on his couch and put his legs on the table. “But it’s better not to thing about what ifs. Sit down Wanda. I don’t bite…”
“Why don’t I believe that statement?” Wanda asks, hesitantly sitting down beside him.
“Because you are a smart girl.” Tony admits, looking at the wall. “I heard you have problems with your powers. Your training with Rogers and Romanoff doesn’t have any effect besides pissing you off.”
Wanda notes how Tony doesn’t call neither Natasha or Steve by their first names, but doesn’t dwell on it, nodding her head to answer his question.
“I’m not surprised. They don’t understand super powers beyond physical strength.” Tony lifts his hand up, inspecting his fingers before they envelope in fire. “Not like us.”
“So you can help me?” Wanda questions, not taking her eyes away from the fire, looking astonished.
“I can.” Tony confirms, cutting the fire out. “I have a friend with similar powers to you. She is a powerful telepath and teacher for kids with powers-”
“I’m not a kid!” Wanda snaps, throwing her hands up in the air, making red energy burst out of her fingertips and destroy Tony’s lamp, making her wince. “Sorry…”
“I never said you were.” Tony says, not looking bothered by her sudden outburst. “Emma and I thought that you wouldn’t be comfortable visiting a school, so she agreed to come here once a week and practice with you.”
“Oh…” Wanda scratches her head, looking slightly embarrassed. “Thank you… I really appreciate your help because if I’m completely honest, those training exercises with Steve are just… awful.”
“I can imagine.” Tony says, looking at her with small knowing smile. “You have no idea how many times I had to yell at him that we aren’t soldiers.”
“How did you put up with them?” Wanda asks, grimacing in distaste. “You clearly don’t like most of them.”
“Because I thought we were family.” Tony honestly answers, not meeting her eyes. “But, I guess I was wrong, because family wouldn’t throw me under the bus after Sokovia. Family wouldn’t silently imply, that I should retire and when I do retire, comeback and ask for more money.”
When Tony shuts up, Wanda just stares at him, not knowing what to say. She honestly thought that he retired from his own will. Not that he was kinda kicked off. Now coming to him for money seems really stupid and messed up.
“Can I be totally honest with you Wanda?” Tony asks, looking her directly in the eyes.
“Yes.” Wanda simply breaths out.
“I hate Steve. I hated him ever since I was a kid. My Father was obsessed with him. He never give me any acknowledgment or attention, because he was searching for him since the War ended. People tent to think that my childhood was super easy, that I had everything I wanted, but that is nowhere near the truth because the truth is, I was building weapons since I was 4. I was kidnapped more times then I can count and not even that gave me a bit of my Father’s attention, and I blame him.”
Tony takes a deep breath because he forgot how to breath during his little rant and continues.
“Then he was finally found and we later met, and guess what? Steve was an complete asshole to me. Maybe that’s why Dad liked him so much. Anyway, we got past that, we saved the world from Aliens and went our separate ways, only for Steve and Natasha to come one day to my tower and demand my help with locating Hydra, when I haven’t sleep for a week, because I was fixing the fucking mess, they created with The Info Dump. Do you have any idea how many Agents there were in SHIELD?”
Wanda shakes her head in No, so Tony tells her. “More then 15000 and do you know how many I managed to save? Only 8744, plus their families. 2421 people died, 903 of them were just families, children.”
Tony’s eyes glow as Wanda stares at him with horrified expression. “What about the other remaining agents?”
“Some of them managed to get protection elsewhere, but most of them are still missing in action and are most likely dead.” Tony’s shoulders fall down as he sighs and looks at the ground, shaking his head. “I should’ve send Romanoff and Rogers to hell the moment they crossed my doors, but I was so desperate to have this family, that lost common sense.”
“You are the one who send that contract and put all those limitations on the founding. Not Potts.” Wanda says in realization, making Tony smile.
“I knew you weren’t just pretty face.” Tony comments, making her blush slightly. “I have been raised by War Mongers. I know how War looks and I can see an army when one is being build right in front of my face.”
“What are you talking about?” Wanda asks, looking confused again.
“Wilson is Steve’s loyal puppy. Romanoff and even Barton will always follow Steve’s lead without many questions. You hate, or hated me.” Tony starts, glaring at the nearest wall. “Steve is slowly creating a team within the team.”
“A team that will be willing to fight against you.” Wanda finishes for him, looking even more confused. “Why?”
“I don’t know.” Tony admits. “But I have been looking into Quinjet’s fly plans and found that they have been traveling all around the world in secret. Steve is trying to hide something from me, while also using my money and resources.”
“Why are you telling me all this, if you are so convinced I am on their side?” Wanda asks, looking genuinely curious.
“Because I am not convinced.” Tony says, softly starting to play with her hair. “You are a young beautiful woman, capable of making her own choices. You aren’t another one of Steve’s puppies.”
“I am not.” Wanda agrees, smiling a bit. “What do you need me to do? Read their minds and find out what they are hiding?”
“Nah, that would be too easy. I will figure it out the old fashioned way. I like a challenges.” Tony says, waving off that option. “So you are with me? You aren’t screwing me over?”
Wanda nods. “I am with you.”
“Okay.” Tony grins, clapping his hands together. “Try to sneak away from the Compound more often. I kinda enjoy your company and besides, Emma will be here every Saturday for your lessons.”
“Am I going to be your secret spy on their special group?” Wanda asks, looking amused and holding back a laugh.
“Exactly Red.” Tony grins and holds out his hand for her to shake. “Welcome to Team Iron Man.”
****
Surprisingly, Wanda is actually pretty funny girl, when she relaxes and finally let’s her guard down. Tony actually had fun with her, and not in the sexual way.
Wanda apparently never saw any Star Wars movie and that kind of person simply isn’t allowed in Tony’s life, so he decided to give her an education on movie culture.
They also discussed Tony’s plan of slowly dissolving The Avengers in more details.
Tony will keep giving more and more limitations on the Team in Pepper’s and Stark Industries name and Wanda will pretend to still hate Tony and go along with every single secret mission, Steve invites her on without asking too many questions.
Wanda will also secretly break every Saturday for a private training with Emma, thus becoming more powerful and gaining more control over herself. Speaking of control, Wanda handled the fact that she is apparently a mystical and legendary Scarlet Witch like a pro.
She even decided to pick up the name and use it as her own official codename.
Tony was thinking about stepping out of the suit and give her a quick peek inside his mind, but eventually decided against it, because he isn’t sure how she would react to his whole plan.
She might be on board and like him now, but it’s still a fresh development. Not worth the risk.
“So what’s it gonna be?” Tony asks, seductively walking towards Wanda, who is reading to leave. “Going… Or staying?”
“You- You want me to stay?” Wanda asks in shock and disbelief.
“Yes.” Tony answers, taking a sip of his drink, not taking his eyes off her.
“I can’t…” Wanda mutters, looking down. “If I stay, they will asks to many questions and it will bring just more problems.”
Tony frowns, finishing up his drink. “You are probably right… See you tomorrow?”
Wanda smiles, opening the doors and walking outside his Apartment, before turning back to him. “See you tomorrow.”
“What a strange woman you are Wanda Maximoff.” Tony mutters to himself, looking at the closed doors.
“Did a certain witch charmed her way in your heart, Boss?” Friday teases, making Tony rolls his eyes.
“I guess she did…”
“Awwww… I’m going to have a mommy!” Friday exclaims, trying to be as annoying as she can possibly get.
“Create female AI they said. It will be fun they said.” Tony shakes his head, smiling on his way towards his bedroom as his suit starts to vanish into him.
