Note
I think I'm motivated to write fics purely off of trying to be character/world accurate lol. But I also enjoy a good build-up, if you can't tell by my other fics (all of which have yet to actually get to sex haha. I'm working on it!!! I swear.) This one will be faster than those, but hey- you can't rush it! This is how I really feel it would play out.PS: Nice comments always help me write more!!! Thanks for any encouragement :)

What Happens at a Sleepover...

Though the blinds were shut, in all the commotion the window had been left open. Lying to herself, Amity blamed the brisk air inside the room for all the goosebumps across her skin as she pulled the blue pajama shirt over her head.

Picking up her pile of day clothes from the floor, Amity took a breath in-

There is no reason to be nervous. You’ve slept in this room before… not in Luz’s bed- but what’s the big difference?! You’re Amity Blight, former Top Student, and something as trivial as a sleepover shouldn’t be able to knock you off your feet so easily. It’s just sleeping, cuddling, nothing to worry about!

-and nodded to herself. She had this under control… she hoped.

“Done! You can turn around now goofball.” she teased as Luz finally set down her now-aching arm and turned back to face her. The human smiled softly.

“Those pajamas look so cute on you, you should really just keep them.”

Amity got a playful glint in her eyes, “But then what would I wear next time I sleepover?” Luz smiled back at her tricky witch.

“True.” she took a deep breath, taking it all in. Amity standing in her room, finally. Only a few months ago, it had seemed nearly impossible to imagine the two of them ever being able to just relax together, and now here they were, living out the impossible.

A light breeze pooled the curtains up as it spilled into the room, contrasting the warm glow of the desk lamp dimly lighting the room around them. Amity shivered.

“Do you mind if I just set my clothes on top of the dresser for now? …Luz? …Luz are you listening?”

Luz certainly was listening; listening to the sound of her own heartbeat speeding up, that is. Because, as the wind blew across the two girls, she’d noticed a part of her girlfriend she’d never seen before… well, two parts really, each forming a small tent on either chest-region under Amity’s shirt.

And it was then that she also took in how, amongst the ordinary items in Amity’s hands- her maroon leggings and black dress- there was also a plain black bra strap hanging out. From the little she saw, it seemed like a standard bra and yet, somehow it lit an incredibly powerful tingling sensation throughout Luz’s body.

Amity took her bra off? She didn’t do that when she slept here last time!? …but I suppose there were boys running around then, and Willow shared our room. Still though! She must’ve thought about it and made the decision to?

Though, in all honesty, the witch hadn’t thought about it. At least, not initially.

Changing like a routine, trying to play it normal, Amity didn’t even realize she’d taken it off until she was completely dressed. After which, she decided it’d be weird to go out of her way just to put it back on- she’d already taken so long just to collect her thoughts, she didn’t want to seem incompetent taking forever just to get dressed. Plus, Luz wouldn’t have a bra on either! she had figured (since the human had already been in pajamas when Amity arrived, and hadn’t expected a guest). It would be fine. They’d be on even grounds, Amity had decided- not knowing then exactly the hole she was digging for them.

Despite the ‘even ground’, Luz nearly tumbled off the bed as she subconsciously slid out to close the window. She suspected by the… perky view… Amity must be cold and-

“Earth to Luzzz.” Amity called out. Luz finally turned back to her. The witch still didn’t understand all the strange human sayings, but she knew her girlfriend responded to them well, so she took it upon herself to memorize some while they were here after the portal had broken. It was only a few months since, and yet it felt like an eternity ago.

“Huh? Oh sorry. Just- in my head a bit tonight I guess.” Luz smiled shyly. Amity bit her lip, eyebrows furrowing.

“Oh. Should I go home? I don’t want to be a bother-”

“No! …I mean, noooo, it’s totally fine! Come over here.” Luz tried to play it cool, not wanting Amity to catch on to her… tingly feelings. She wasn’t sure exactly what they were, but somehow she just knew it wasn’t the sorta thing you admit to someone else out loud. Amity would think I was a total creep! Keep it together Luz.

The human slid nonchalantly back onto the mattress and flipped open the blanket, a gesture for Amity to come claim the spot next to her.

Trying to keep her excited smile at bay, Amity set the clothes down behind her on the dresser and joined Luz. She’d sat in her bed before, they’d even laid together once on a group picnic! Yet this felt different somehow… more intimate.

Like an unspoken rule, the two girls both flipped on their sides so they were looking at each other face-to-face. Their shared blanket shielding them from the cool air of the room and, for a moment, all the nerves seemed to dissipate between the two of them. It was just brown looking into amber, soft exhales from noses, and the most peace either had ever known.

And with a small leap in her heart, Amity whispered once more, “Can I kiss you?” to which Luz could only nod, a glow in her eyes at the prospect.

Leaning her neck forward, the witch met her human’s lips- which seemed to be a constant inferno against her icy temperatures. What warmed one refreshed the other, two opposites coming apart and back together again softly; a certain need hanging between them- something only the other could give but neither could acknowledge. Not yet.

Their lips greeted each other, like misplaced halves of the same whole, again and again. And, after the third pass of tender affection, Luz raised a well-meaning hand to cup Amity’s cheek and pull her closer.

And that’s when it happened.

Amity really did just come here to sleep, but there was something in the air tonight. Be it all the tension following her entrance, or changing her clothes so close to Luz, perhaps just the newness of a sleepover together- whatever it was, it shot like a bolt of sugary electricity, out from a certain spot between her thighs. It fluttered through her stomach and rattled her ribcage before zipping up her throat and bursting from her lips as a sharp, stuttery exhale against Luz’s lips.

A siren song towards waters they’d only traversed a handful of times before- the two girls hardly having had time for chaste kisses, yet alone steamy makeouts, while plotting how to defeat two chaotic entities. But that battle was long over, and now, for the first time, they really had an opportunity to fully explore this new, scary and yet thrilling, sea together.

Don’t say it, don’t say it.

“Crikeyyy” Luz panted hotly against Amity’s lips as they pulled back from each other. She couldn’t even muster the breath to berate herself aloud for making the same mistake- at least choose a new expression! JEEZ man!- again because she was just trying to catch her breath. They had hardly even begun and yet it felt like they’d been running miles; both flushed and hot to the touch, a pull from one to the other building between them- one that was getting harder and harder not to acknowledge.

Amity bit her lip, a certain familiar image coming to mind as she looked across at Luz panting.

“What were you doing before I got here?” she questioned, too curious to let her embarrassment silence her.

Confused and taken aback, Luz blinked. “Huh?”

Amity got a wicked glint in her eye, and yet the blush rising to the tips of her ears told another story, “You… you rushed over to your laptop and slammed it shut. I guess I was just wondering…” her sentence trailed off as she realized the weight of what she was really asking. It seemed like a fun question in the moment, but only seconds later, having seen an odd expression flash across Luz’s face- she realized how invasive it might seem.

“Well actually it was just-” Luz started // “Sorry that was so weird-” Amity began.

For a beat they just looked at each other, until- thankfully- Luz cracked a smile at the silly situation.

“I was just prepping an essay for that Wild Magic University I told you about.” she admitted sheepishly.

Amity’s cheeks pinkened, but she tried to play it off, “Oh. The application is already open? I thought you’d just heard about it yesterday?”

“I did but I was just excited and-” Luz thought back to that moment. She had shut her laptop in a very suspicious way, and Amity had implied then that she may have been doing something… risky. But she wasn’t! So what shame did she need to feel? Amity on the other hand…. oh this could be fun. “-wait a minute. What did you think I was doing?” Luz inquired with an innocent expression.

It was a new color, it must have been. Luz would swear on her life, she’d never seen that shade of red before, she thought, as she watched Amity sputter for a moment.

“Me? Thinking? Nooo. No thoughts. Actually, I’m pretty tired- goodnight!” Amity flipped over to her other side, facing away from Luz and mimicking light snoring sounds even though her eyes were wide open- shockingly so.

Luz chuckled lightly at the cute display and Amity looked back over her shoulder at her with a glare. “You knew what I was asking didn’t you?” she grinned, quickly turning back and launching herself on top of Luz into a playful wrestling position. “You set me up!” she declared, pinning Luz down by the wrists as they both laughed.

Shh! You’re gonna startle my mama and she won’t be very happy if she walks in on- this.” Luz chuckled, too giddy to even feel nervous about their current position; though it certainly did make her feel something else.

“Oh? And what would she think is happening huh Luz? Two can play at that game!” she sneered, leaning close in the heat of the moment. Amity loved a good challenge, and hated being made a fool of. But Luz knew just how to push her buttons.

“Well, she’d see you on top of me” as her laughter died down, her voice grew more serious without her even realizing, “and she’d hear our heavy breathing…” Amity was looking at her with every ounce of her attention now, waiting for something she couldn’t describe, “and when she notices your bra on my dresser, it’ll be game over.”

Amity’s eyebrows furrowed as she was foiled once again- now very aware that Luz did, in fact, notice she wasn’t wearing a bra. Her current position hanging over the human was Amity’s only saving grace as her shirt billowed in front of her body, hiding the outline of anything incriminating.

But the human wasn’t letting her go so easily because, what Amity had come to learn over the past year knowing Luz was that, despite her kind nature, when you lit a fire under her, she was quite competitive too.

The intense eye contact they held was broken as Luz trailed her eyes, slowly, down Amity’s face and to the small opening of her shirt collar hanging down. It didn’t reveal much, just the skin of her collarbones, but under Luz’s knowing gaze it felt like she was completely exposed. To back down though- that was out of the question- so the witch did the only thing she could, the only thing she desperately wanted to.

She leaned down into another slow, wet kiss. Wasting no time to introduce an element she had far more experience carrying out in her dreams- running a tentative tongue across Luz’s plump bottom lip. They didn’t kiss like this often, but both yearned to, and now all that pent up desire was reaching a pinnacle as Luz slightly parted her lips and pushed her tongue forward to meet Amity’s.

Melting into it, Amity let her hips settle against Luz, unknowingly putting pressure right where the human needed it; introducing a new element Luz didn’t even realize she needed- but titan did she need it now.

Amity~” she whispered involuntarily against the witch’s lips, blushing at the sound of her own neediness. She was always the one to take care of others, it could be particularly hard for her to show her own needs- especially these kinds.

And as soon as she heard it, like music to her ears, Amity knew that there was an opportunity here. Every time they would kiss, or cuddle even, she liked to take note of what Luz liked. She wanted to let the girl know she deserved to feel good too, and Amity's heart raced at the idea of being able to show her that, of getting to be her awesome girlfriend. She was nervous, and didn't know at all what she was doing or what would come of it, but one word couldn't stop echoing in her mind at this new discovery: checkmate.
