Wanda x reader x Kate
Natasha Romanoff may not have given birth to you, but she was your mother.
She had rescued you from the Red Room when you were eight and been your mother ever since.
She could have given you to SHIELD and made you someone else's problem, but she didn't.
Natasha Romanoff adopted you instead. She gave you a home and became your mother.
Despite your four years of red Room training, Natasha never forced you to continue with any of it.
It's why you never became an Avenger, and you chose to become a ballerina.
Your mother always supported you.
She supported your career and came to every show. She supported you when you came out as gay, and she supported you when you started dating Wanda Maximoff.
That was what you missed most about your mother. Her unconditional love and support.
Your mother had been dead for a year now. She had sacrificed her life so that you and thousands of others could live.
After coming back from the dead with nowhere to go, your godparents had basically demanded you and Wanda come live with them.
You were grateful for Laura and Clint. The two had helped you and Wanda through a difficult time in your lives and never once complained.
Because they were family, and they knew just how cruel life could be.
This would be your first Christmas since your mother's death, and despite telling everyone you were fine, your girlfriend and family saw right through you.
You loved your family, but they were overwhelming, and at one point, it got to be too much. You'd snuck away from the Christmas celebrations to go hide away in the barn.
You were lying in the hayloft when you heard someone enter below.
Thinking it was Wanda coming to find you, you moved to the edge of the loft, ready to tell her you were fine when you paused.
It wasn't Wanda. Or one of the Bartons.
It was a girl with dark hair who had sat on a hay bale looking as if she were about to cry.
"Hello." You said, causing the girl's head to snap up.
"Oh, God! I'm so sorry! I didn't think anyone was in here! What am I saying? Of course, someone could be in here. It's your house,"
"You're Kate, then? Kate Bishop?" You cut her off. "Clint's stray?"
"Well, I wouldn't put it like that."
"Don't worry, it's a compliment. Me and Wanda are strays too." You told her.
"Oh. I thought you were a Barton."
"Nope. I'm a Romanoff." You said. "Y/N Romanoff. Wanda and I are permanent strays around here."
"Romanoff? Like Natasha Romanoff?"
"Her one and only daughter." You nodded.
"I've heard a lot about her this week. I met your aunt." Kate mentioned.
"Clint said." You nodded. "So, what brings you by my cave this fine Christmas?" You asked before jumping down from the loft.
"Jesus." Kate jumped when you landed in front of her. "What is with everyone jumping from things?"
"The thrill of the fall, Kate. You'll learn to love it." You said, sitting on a bale beside her. "Now, come on. Distract me from my grief. What's bothering you?"
"Oh, this would be your first Christmas without her? Isn't it?"
"If you don't count the five years I was technically dead, yes." You shrugged. "C'mon, Kate, it's easier to talk about what happened on a mission sooner rather than later."
"Whoa, you're really pushy."
"I'm Russian, technically. Spill the beans."
"Okay, then, I almost got myself killed, I saw my first dead body, then I almost got Clint killed. I had an innocent man thrown into jail, and then I put my own mother in jail." Kate told you
"That's a lot."
"Yeah, no kidding." Kate sighed.
"It's Christmas, and I put my mother in prison."
"Did she deserve it?" You questioned her.
"No. I mean, yes. She killed someone. She framed an innocent man." Kate told you.
"But she was your mother." You nodded.
"I love her, but she can't get away with what she did." ate sighed. "The look on her face when she was taken away, she must hate me."
The two of you sat in silence for a moment before Kate let out a sigh.
"Clint told me that I would lose a lot if I wanted this life, and I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I didn't think I'd have to find out so soon."
"I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but it's just the start, Kate. In this life, you'll lose friends family, and, if you're not careful, you'll lose yourself. Trust me, I've seen it all." You told her. "Are you sure you want this life?"
"Yes." Kate nodded. "I want this. I want to help people. I'm good at this."
"Then that's what you need to hold onto."
"Are you scaring Kate?" Wanda asked, entering the barn with your jacket in hand.
"What? Me? Scare Kate? Never." You said, taking the jacket from Wanda. "Kate was just about to honour me with a time-bound tradition. The regaling."
"The regaling?" Kate cocked her head.
"It's pretty much tradition that after a mission or a fight, you regale everyone with your victory," Wanda told the girl. "Every Avenger has done it before."
"And from the sounds of it, you've had an interesting week."
"Oh, well, it didn't start that way." Kate started as Wanda sat beside you. "See, it all started with a bet,"
Seven months after Christmas, you and Wanda had fully moved out of the Barton family home and were back living in New York.
The two of you had decided that it was time and that you needed your own space from your family.
You had found a place in New York that the two of you loved. It was close to your work, near enough to where Rhodey was stationed with the rest of the Avengers for Wanda, and Kate lived down the road.
You, Wanda and Kate, had all gotten close after Christmas. The three of you had all kept in contact after, and it had been Kate who had told you about your apartment.
"Hey, sorry Pizza Dog found a bird he wanted, and it took forever to get him away," Kate said as you let her in.
"That's alright. Someone's got to keep New York pigeon free, huh, Lucky?" You cooed, petting the dog.
"So, what's the Pizza Dog emergency?" Kate asked unclipping Lucky's lead.
"I need to steal him for a while." You said, rising to a stand. "Well, Wanda does."
"Where is Wanda?"
"Follow me." You said, clicking for Lucky to follow as well.
Opening your bedroom door, you ushered Lucky inside and walked to the bed while Kate stayed in the doorway.
"Hey, Wanda. Look who's here." You sat beside Wanda, causing Lucky to jump onto the bed.
"Hi, Lucky." Wada smiled weakly as the dog curled up beside her.
"He's going to keep you company for a while, okay, hun?"
"Okay."
"I'm going to get you some more tea." You said, pressing a kiss to her forehead before grabbing the cold but still full mug.
"Is she okay?" Kate asked after the two of you were in the kitchen.
"She will be." You sighed, dumping the tea in the sink. "Pietro died six years ago today, well, technically, eleven, but it was six for Wanda." You old Kate.
"Oh, I didn't realise."
"I've known Wanda for six years now, and as much as she loves me, she doesn't want human interaction right now."
"But with Lucky, she's not alone." Kate deduced.
"Bingo." You sighed. "You want a coffee?"
"Please." Kate nodded. "Does she always do this? Hide away?"
"Yeah, but this year's pretty good."
"How so?"
"She's talking." You shrugged. "It's not much, but it's growth. I won't push when it comes to Pietro. She can do whatever she needs to to get through today." You told Kate, handing her a mug. "C'mon, sit. Tell me something about work."
"We got someone new working in the bakery. John's got me training her for the front of the store." Kate mentioned.
"Does that mean you'll finally be allowed in the kitchen?"
"Probably not. I burn water." Kate snorted. "What about you? Anything interesting in the company?"
"Usual business." You shrugged. "Auditions are coming up, so that should be interesting."
Kate opened her mouth to speak when the familiar sound of click-click cut her off.
"Lucky wants some of those puppy cookies." Wanda quietly said, standing in the doorway with a happy Lucky in front of her.
"Well, lucky for Lucky, we just stocked up." You smiled, moving towards the cabinet. "You want anything, Wand?"
"A cookie. A people cookie." Wanda nodded.
"Coming right up." You said as Kate passed you the jar.
"And a cup of tea, please?" Wanda added after a second.
"Anything else you need, Wands?" You asked the woman.
"Bad movies?"
"I think that can be arranged." You smiled.
"Hey, I can come back for Lucky later tonight," Kate said, grabbing her jacket.
"No," Wanda said, causing the two of you to turn to her. "Stay, please."
"You sure? Because I don't want to interrupt or intrude. You know, any more than I already have."
"Please, Kate, stay."
"You're more than welcome to stay, Kate." You smiled at your friend. "Besides, you have worse taste in movies than anyone else." You teased, causing Wanda to let out a quiet chuckle.
"Excuse me! Just because I don't choose something in another language does not mean my movies are bad!" Kate said.
"Yes, it does."
"No, it doesn't."
"Rehearsals are finally done. I'll be out in a minute." You said, throwing your bag over your shoulder. "But I'm not changing, just, so you know."
"That's fine, hon," Wanda promised you.
"Is everything okay?" Kate asked. "Your face sounds pinched."
"Pinched? What the hell does that mean? My face is not pinched." You huffed as Wanda and Kate laughed.
"No, Kate's right. When you get stressed, your face pinches. But only a little." Wanda told you. "It's very cute." She assured you.
"Okay, my face does not pinch, and even if it did, name one time." You challenged the two.
"When you were waiting to hear back about casting."
"Now."
"I was waiting to see if I got Giselle. Of course, I was nervous." You grumbled.
"And you got it. There was no reason to be nervous."
"Now, what's making you sound so pinched?" Wanda asked.
"My understudy just screamed at the director and me for the last twenty minutes." You sighed, beginning to walk down the stairs.
"Jealousy at its finest?"
"She's as green as the grinch about this." You sighed. "It doesn't matter how many times Aaron explains to her his reasoning Isabelle won't accept it."
"Well, you earned that role, kotenok," Wanda told you. "Don't let her ruin what you worked so hard for."
"Do you want me to come down to the studio? I feel like just the sight of my bow could make Isabelle shit herself." Kate suggested.
"Thanks, but we'll put that on the backburner for now. Do me a favour, get me a coffee? I'm dead," You started to say before a force rammed into your back and you were thrown down the stairs.
A pained scream escaped your lips as you rolled down the several flights of stairs before landing at the bottom.
A groan escaped your lips as your head lolled to the side. The world blurred as you lay at the foot of the stairs.
You could hear screams all around you. You could feel people grabbing at you, moving you and prodding you.
You weren't sure how long you were stuck in that place between conscious and unconscious, but eventually, you came to.
"There she is," Wanda said as you opened your eyes.
"Where? Where am I?" You asked the woman, looking between her and Kate, who was at her side.
"In the hospital," Wanda told you, causing your head to snap to the area of your body in pain.
And that's when you saw your leg wrapped in bandages.
"No. No. No, no, no, no." You gulped, pulling yourself upright as it became harder to breathe. "This can't be happening."
"Y/N. Breath." Wanda demanded, reaching for one of your flailing hands.
"He's gonna kill me, Wanda." You panicked. "Dreykov, he's gonna kill me."
"Dreykov is dead. No one can hurt you."
"A ballerina can't dance on one leg. And a ballerina who can't dance is no good. No good." You cried as Wanda forced your hand onto her chest.
"Y/N, look at me. You are not going to die. You are fine. Dreykov is not going to get you. He is dead. Your mother killed him." Wanda told you. "Kate, take her other hand."
Kate followed Wanda's instructions without a word and laced her fingers with yours.
"You are not alone. You are with Kate and me. And we're not going to let anything happen to you." Wanda told you.
"We'll keep you safe, Y/N," Kate promised, squeezing your fingers.
"I'm, I'm safe." You gulped.
"Yes, you are." Wanda nodded, placing one of her hands on your heart.
"Thank you." You murmured. "Sorry, you had to see that, Kate."
"It's alright. Are you okay? Actually, that's a stupid question. You're in the hospital, and you just had a panic attack."
"Kate." You cut the woman off.
"Sorry." Kate blushed. "But, are you good now?"
"I will be. I just need a minute. Dreykov is dead, I'm not going to die, but I need to know what is going on down there." You said, nodding to your leg. "And maybe what happened."
"Your understudy pushed you down the stairs," Wanda told you.
"I didn't think she was that crazy."
"Apparently, she is," Kate said. "I told you I should have shown up with my bow. Maybe shot her in the leg."
"But don't worry, that stairwell was full of cameras. The director's already called the police and filed for her arrest." Wanda promised you.
"Okay. And, what's the damage?" You asked the two.
"A sprained knee."
"That's it?"
"That's it." Wanda nodded.
"Well, apart from the minor concussion." Kate chipped in.
"Looks like that Red Room serum decided to kick in. We think it took care of most of the damage." Wanda told you.
"That's good. I can be dancing again in six weeks." You said.
"What you're going to do is relax and not worry about dance," Wanda told you firmly.
"But, Wanda,"
"You need to heal more than you need to dance," Wanda said, raising a brow at you.
"Fine."
"Think of it this way, Y/N, you've got six weeks of crap movies with us and playing with Lucky," Kate said positively.
"Okay, that doesn't sound so bad." You hummed. "I guess it won't hurt to let my knee heal properly."
"That's the spirit."
"Ow! That hurts!" Kate whined as Wanda pulled her arm into a sling.
"It wouldn't hurt if you didn't get injured." Wanda chided, holding her hand out to you. "Safety pin."
"Safety pin." You said, handing it over. "You're lucky it's not broken, Kate. We don't have the drugs to numb that kind of injury, and you don't want us setting it with no drugs."
"Don't you start," Kate whined. "I didn't mean to get thrown into a building. That asshole just threw me."
"You should have gone to a hospital." Wanda tsked.
"Yeah, well, you guys are closer, and it's easier coming here," Kate mumbled.
"Kate, I'm serious. You could have had internal bleeding. You're lucky I can check." Wanda said, narrowing her eyes into a firm stare. "You could have died."
"That's just life, isn't it?"
"Only this life."
"Oh, God." Wanda sighed before turning to you. "I'm diregarding the plan. I can't wait any longer."
"All good, hon." You smiled. "I'm on the same page."
"What page?"
"Come on a date with us." Wanda told the woman.
"Oh, I don't wanna third wheel, guys." Kate shook her head.
"No, come on a date with us."
"We're asking you out, Kate." You clarified.
"What? Why?"
"Because we like you. As more than a friend. And we were kinda hoping you liked us in the same way." You shrugged. "But if you don't, that's totally cool, you don't have to if you don't want to."
"No, I want to. Really, I really want to, but, aren't you guys worried about me ruining what you already have?" Kate asked. "Or, you know, something bad happening?"
"No." Wanda shook her head. "Trust me when I say, this isn't something we want to lose. And we what this life's like, we know what it means to be a hero. And we're not scared of what could happen."
"We want you, Kate. If you'll have us." You promised.
"On one condition."
"Name it."
"Nowhere too fancy for the first date. I can't exactly wear a jacket right now." Kate said, nodding to her sling.
"I think we can work something out." Wanda smiled before frowning at the brunette. "Y/N, pass me the neosporian. Kate you have glass in your hair."
"Oh. Didn't even realise."
"Jesus, Kate
