Chapter 6
When the couple walked back to their room Illy stopped.
"Illy, what's wrong?" The Chayenne asked. "Nothing, it's just- Can I show you tonight? The memories- My memories" The Pale Blonde stuttered, looking a bit embarrassed and slightly frustrated at the end.
The Brunette smiled, so this was why Illyana had been so anxious she figured. She had felt it all evening but decided not to mention it. She was quite worried before so relief washed over her when it was just this that had been bugging the youngest. "Of course you can show me, if you want to"
"I do" Illy said firmly. She wanted to show Dani, it would feel like a burden would be lifted. Like she would finally completely understand her. She suddenly didn't feel anxious anymore, it must have been the realization that this was a good thing. She shrugged.
But honestly, she was so lucky to have Dani. In the hospital, when Dani and Rahne were... a thing, she was scared she would never get a chance to let Dani know her feelings for the shorter girl. But now, now she got the girl. Which was more than that she bargained for. You wouldn't understand how happy she was when she heard Dani liked her too. She felt like she would explode from happiness.
She still didn't fully understand but who cares? The older was now her freaking girlfriend. Illyana could not have been any luckier.
When they finally arrive at their shared room they quickly changed into something more comfy. Which is just another way of saying they put on some sweats and T-shirt. Illy was wearing a shirt that the school had provided for her and Dani (Being as adorable as she was) was wearing of hers. Since Illyana was taller than her it was incredibly large on her, but Illy didn't mind. (Only because she looked so cute.) And maybe she had to use all of her willpower not to hug the girl to death because of her cuteness overload.
Anyway, back to the story.
The Russian went to sit on the bed and motioned Dani to do the same. It was better not to do this while standing as one might feel dizzy at the end of it. So that's what she told the Brunette opposite of her when she looked at her questionably.
She kissed her once and activated her power. She let her memories run free, showing Dani everything. Every painful memory, every happy memory and every sad one.
She showed her how she was experimented on, that they would strap her down and operate on her while she was still fully conscious. Making sure she felt everything. She showed her how they beat her until she moved no more, even that they let her starve until she fell unconscious and was barely alive. But she also showed Dani the night when they were all together in the attic, how happy she had felt that she had found people who were (kinda?) nice to her. How much she worried whenever Dr. Reyes called for Dani to run some tests on her, and how relieved she felt when The Chayenne came out of them alive every single time.
She showed her everything, because that's what she deserved. That is what Dani deserved after supporting her through everything. And because she loved her but okay.
In the mean time Dani was completely overwhelmed with everything she saw and felt. She was angry when she was what they did to Illy in the hospital, she felt sad not being able to be there for her sooner but she also felt happy. She felt everything at once. It was too much but she pushed through, wanting to know everything, understand everything.
When the youngest had shown Dani her last memory, the one from this afternoon when they went picnicking, she let go of her. Kind of disconnecting herself from The brunette. Dani felt quite dizzy after, just like how Illy had explained to her before.
When she opened her eyes and looked at Illy she saw a few fresh cuts that were forming on her skin, when Illy caught her looking she explained. "Whenever I do this I get a new set of wounds." The older looked at her dumbfounded. "Think of it like this, I 'hurt' people mentally and so are the consequences physically."
"Illy, you should've told me before"
"No, otherwise you wouldn't have agreed to do it." She defended. I mean, she wasn't wrong but still.
"Let me at least heal you then okay?" The older countered. Illy thought about it for a minute before asking "Do you have the energy for it? And no lying"
Dani nodded, then she healed her.
They went to bed after that event, both tired after their little trip down Illyana's memory lane. You couldn't blame them really, as showing and seeing so much, it actually was quite tiresome.
A little later Rahne stopped by to check on them, besides, she wanted to ask Dani something. But she was met with the two of them fast asleep in each others arms. So she let them be, but not before taking a picture first, showing it to Sam and Roberto later. And of course it was stuff they could tease them with.
Sure, most of the time she protected the two from the teasing that came from the boys but on the occasion she would join them. As she couldn't let the opportunity pass.
