Losing people had to be the worst part of SHEILD.
Daisy had lost so many good people over the years.
Tripp, Lincoln, Bobbi, Hunter… the list could go on.
And yes, some were lucky enough to still be alive, and she could contact them from time to time, but it wasn’t the same.
It sucked.
Losing people thoroughly sucked.
Now, she was losing her family too.
Her team.
The people who had stood by her side through all of it and never given up on her.
Not once.
Mack, Yoyo, Coulson, May, Fitz, Jemma and even their newest addition, Alya, were all leaving her.
And it stung.
She didn’t realise how much she would miss them until slowly, one by one, they were slipping away from her.
Physically, at least.
The group text remained active (though it was sometimes hard to send and receive in space) and she facetimed Jemma on the regular, always looking forward to her niece making an appearance to ask about space and when Auntie Daisy would be visiting Perthshire.
Everything was so different now; but it was good.
Maybe.
Probably.
She had Daniel, and she had Kora.
As much as they were her family, it would never quite be the same.
She wouldn’t be here without her team.
Alive, happy, loved.
It really was funny what could happen when someone believes in you.
