Chapter 4
They quickly grabbed the same small notebook that they were carrying with them, opening it. Gem stood and looked over their shoulders and saw that there were a few things written there, especially one that said "pause." The girl quickly closed the book, which startled Gem a bit. Gem observed as the girl went in front of the dead deer, taking a knife from her clothes. She walked in front of the animal and swiftly began to skin it, removing the animal's organs from the skin. The girl took the skin and placed it on a clothesline to dry, then proceeded to prepare the animal's meat, washing and seasoning it. Gem, seeing all of this, was impressed by how the kids were doing it all, and how quickly.
Before they realized it, the meat of the animal was on the fire, roasting. Gem then observed the person who took other skins of the animal from the clothesline. They gestured to keep an eye on the meat on the fire, and Gem, not wanting to be foolish, simply agreed.
"Sure, I'll keep an eye on it, Silencie-chan!" With that, Gem was left watching the person enter the house below, disappearing from sight. In their view, they were entering a door within the laboratory, leaving the basket of skins on the table. Then, they went to do their work, putting grapes that had now turned into wine into a jar and adding a bat dung liquid, or rather, another formula to create the resurrection liquid. Finally finished, they put it into a separate container and placed it in the bag where their book should have been. Next, they began treating the animal skins outside the secret area within the laboratory, in the laboratory itself.
Gem became curious about what they were doing and, with nothing else to do, entered the cabin, observing them taking and treating the animal's skin, layering it in a separate basket.
"So, this is where the fabrics that Yuzuriha makes come from, and I've always wondered how Yuzuriha manages to make the animal skins thin and good for sewing," Gem thought. But as soon as they met their gaze, Gem received an angry look. "Sorry, I just came to see what you were doing!"
And so they now left the old laboratory, looking at the now ready meat on one side and then turning to the other. Gem sat down on one of the wooden benches, grateful that the meat hadn't burned. him didn't want to see Silencie angry.
