The Iron Man Returns
After the failed mission in New York, The Avengers lost the military and Governments trust. Again. The President thought that Captain America should lead the assault and lead Steve did, but he led his troopers right into their deaths.
Supergiant was ready for them. She knew exactly what Steve planned and cut them off even before their trucks, tanks and jets arrived. Some Soldiers managed to infiltrate the town but they got all hunted down and killed. Steve somehow managed to find Spider-Man, who was desperately trying to save a family from burning a car, but it was already too late, as the family was dead.
After that, The Military, Air Force, Marines openly refused to work with The Avengers and President send them all into a UN stationed base where they act as Consultants. Steve tried to argue against this, but he had no real argument to use. People died. Good Soldiers died and it was because he thought he knew better than military generals who did their job for decades...
The Team also took the loss of New York very badly both morally and psychically.
After a few months since their return to America, Natasha's sister Yelena joined them at The Compound along with cured Bucky, who hardly interacted with any of them before the Invasion and Hope Van Dyne, Scotts girlfriend. Steve and Bucky saw horrors of War first handed during WW2, they were used to blood, burned, or disfigured bodies. Natasha, Yelena, and Clint are trained assassins and Sam was also part of Airforce, but neither Scott, Hope, Wanda, Vision, or Spider-Man had any experience of this kind, and while Vision and Hope take it surprisingly pretty well, but Scott, Wanda and Spider-Man are visibly shaken and traumatized.
Whatever the Military tried simply didn't work. The Chitauri have even better ground equipment than before and are cutting through the US forces like nothing. Those Chitauri Tanks destroyed ordinary M1A2 tank like it was made out of paper and those flying crafts are capable of keeping up with F22 raptors like they are just common birds in the sky.
"Captain Rogers!" Ross snaps, glaring at Steve who is snapped out of his thoughts. "Get your head in the game! Our men are dying out there for christ's sake. Do you have anything useful for me?"
Steve tries to say something, but he looks around him and sees the looks people are sending him and completely loses his voice. He sees the look Maria Hill is sending his way from behind Fury and he can practically hear her saying. "Stark warned you about this." Steve wishes that he could turn back time and work things out with the missing genius differently...
But he can't..
Tony is gone and might never wake up, and to make things even worse, Steve let the media drag his name in the mud, because he was afraid what would happen to him and his team, if people knew the truth about what happened in Siberia...
"It's no use!" A Soldier yells through the comms as a scream and sound of firing is heard in the background. "The Chitauri are pushing us to the corner! Their Tanks are also closing in on our position- Arghhhh!"
The feed is cut off as Natasha pushes frozen Steve out of the way and leans against the table. "We need clear visual. Can we access anything in that area? Trafic or near shops cameras, anything?"
"Smith?!" Ross yells, motioning for the young man to join them and do his hacking magic.
"I got it." Smith reports after a few minutes, opening up a camera feed from a near trafic cam and making all of them gasps at the sight of their men being pinned down with no way of escaping, as enemy troopers and Tanks start lining up on their location.
"Its pointless." Fury says, sadly shaking his head. "Chicago is lost."
Steve would like to say something hopeful, but he cant because Fury is right and its only matter of time till the remaining soldiers are also killed. And there is nothing they can do...
"Sirs?" One of the technican calls out, looking confused. "Something just zoomed on our scaners. Its flying towards the location of our man at the speed of MACH 7!"
Suddendly, a Chitauri Tank is hit by a missle and explodes to peaces, surpsing Chitauri troopers, as well as the surving soldiers and audiance behind the camera.
"I will say it only once..." A familar voice responds from above, making all of their eyes widen, as Iron Man decloakes and hovers above the surviving soldiers, looking down at The Chitauri who all imidietly point their guns at him. "Leave. Or you will die."
"Y Cythraul! One of the Chitauri Soldiers yells and they all start to fire at Iron Man who just takes all of the damage, not even bothering to dodge, as an hard light shield appears around him.
"Okay then." Iron Man mutters, looking at the enemies before him while turning to The Soldiers who are trying to cover under the heavy fire. "Hi boys! Do you mind If I take this over?"
"Uhhhh? Of course! Go ahead..." The young Leutanent shouts back, trying to outyell the gunfire, as Tony smirks and a large Battle Ship that looks like a heavily armed and modified Helicarrier decloaks and hovers above the city and behind Tony, shocking the audiance even more.
"Ohhhhh. So thats what he meant by upgrade." Maria Hill mutters to herself, while others look at her with confused expresions on their faces. "Pegasus... huh it kinda makes sense now."
"What?" Fury asks, giving voice to all of them, as everybody wanted to ask the same question.
Maria pulls her phone up and completly ignores him, smiling a bit to herself. "Morning everyone. Boss is back!"
"…What?!"

"Friday, Darling..." Tony whispers as he drops to the ground, bursting the ground under him and blasting one chitauri in the chest with enought force that it creates a giant burning hole inside the alien, killing him instantly, before rolling out of the way and shooting two missiles at a small group that was trying to tackle him. "Send out the first battalion."
"On it." Friday responds and dozens of Iron Legionares fly down from the Pegasus, joining the fight and turning the battle around. "I am sending out the Hacksaws too. The surviving soldiers look like they desperatly need medical attention and..."
"Feel free." Tony calls back, materlizing a sword on his left arm and slicing another Chitauris throat. "But keep in mind that till Hill gets our guys on Pegasus, we have only stasis pods..."
"It will have to do..." Friday mutters sadly, as a completle new variant of Iron Legionares, design specifilly for extraction of injured people lunch from the Pegasus and start picking up one Soldier after next. Friday sighs as a Chitauri Leviathan tries to attack Pegasus, only to be oblirated by its defensive secundary canon. "Well, at least it tried..."
"Whats that annoying ringing?" Tony asks as he blasts another two Chitauri down.
"That would be Ms. Hill trying to establish contact with us from The UN base in Los Angles." Friday answers his question. "She is surrounded by trash. Do you want me to answer?"
"Nah." Tony responds, rolling his eyes as a Chitauri trooper smacks him in the head, doing no damage. "Just keep her posted about the sitaution and let her know to make me a coffee. If you want feel free to open up a camera feed with her too."
"Showoff..." Friday foundly mutters, making Tony smirk inside his helmet as Iron Legion flies above him, shooting down any Chitauri Trooper or Tank remianing in the area. "The area is clear. The Soldiers are safely on board on Pegasus in the medical room."
"Send Pegasus on road to Los Angles" Tony starts to commands, looking in the distance of the city and seeing a still big amount of enemis alive. "Release The Hulkbusters. Im going to clear out this city and then catch up to you."
"See you then." Friday responds and closes their connection, as a squad of Hulkbusters flies down from Pegasus and joins Tony in flying further into the city along with battalion of Iron Legion behind him.
"This is where the fun begins..."

The Avengers, Ross, Fury and Maria along with some other people watch in shock, as Iron Legion and Tony tear their way acorss Chicago, shooting down any Tank, Leviathan, Trooper, Flying Crafts as if they were nothing. As if Military wasnt fighing a loosing fight with them only minutes ago...
Seeing as Tony slashes his way with lasers, repulsors, swords and much more impresive weaponry, Steve wonders if Tony was really trying to kill Bucky in Siberia, or was he just lashing out... Tony has a litteral army of Iron Men for crying out loud!
Tony closes in on another group of Chitauri on top of a large building, but to their suprise, they dont shoot at him and hold their hands out in surrender. Tony stops and drops down next to them, crossing his arms across his chest, as one of them steps forwards and stares down at Tony with his ugly eyes.
"Ni fyddwch yn ennill Cythraul." The Chitauri troopers growls. "Efallai eich bod chi'n bencampwr y byd hwn, ond nawr rydych chi'n sefyll yn erbyn merch nerthol Thanos."
To their surprise, Tony responds in perfect accent that is almost identical to that one the Chitauri in front of him used. "Gall Thanos ei chael yn ôl yn ddarnau. Gadael fy myd. Nawr!"
"Byth!" The Chitauri angrily spits, reaching for his weapon. "Bydd pob un ohonoch yn ymgrymu o'i blaen!
"Yna byddwch chi i gyd yn llosgi gyda hi." Tony responds and flamethrowers form on his hands, releasing their full power at the Chitauri trooper in front of him and burning him alive, along with the other troopers present, making them release a painful horrific scream, before they die from their injuries.
"He just burned them alive..." Sam gasps, looking horrified.
"Good ridance." Ross comments, smirking at the sight. "It was about time Stark regrew his backbone. Finally someone who can bring something to this table and not just a band of incompetent idiots.”
"Do you want to say something to us, Ross?" Clint angrily snaps, taking a step closer to the Secretary of State, who looks at him with unimpressed look, before turning to Fury with annoyed expression. "Keep your Assassin on leash, Fury. Or I will put him where all dogs like him belong."
"Barton! Stand down!" Fury commands, shaking his head, before turning to Natasha with a glare. "How the fuck does Stark know how to speak their language? And why the hell did they even bothered to talk with him? All of the affords on establishing a communication link with them failed."
"Mr. Stark was studying Chitauri Technology after the first battle of New York" Vision speaks for the first time, looking uncertain and nervous about the return of his Creator. "He learned a lot of things about The Chitauri, among them also their native language."
"This is a good thing." Natasha comments, looking at the frozen image of burning Chitauri troopers. "With Tony’s help and arsenal we can finally turn this war around."
"You think that he will work with us?" Hope asks, looking at Natasha as if she was an complete idiot. "The last time any of you saw him was when he was lying in a coma after your "Civil War" and now you expect him to just come in and be like "It’s fine, come on! We got a War to win? Are you serious or just dumb?"
Marias phone starts ringing as she takes it out and and puts it to her ear. "Friday?... Yes.... Everybody is waiting for you.... No.... Yes... Yes.... No.... Understood. See you then." Maria then hangs up and when she looks up, she is met with dozens of stares direcated at her, making her raise an eyebrow. "What?"
"What did she say?" Fury asks, looking as commanding as ever.
"Nothing important to you." Maria responds, shocking all of The Avengers while Fury himself stares at her in complete disbelief. Maria then turns towards Ross, who already knows whats her deal. "Pegasus is currently on its way here with the survivors from Chicago. Friday said that most of them will need medical attention as soon as possible."
"What about Stark?" Ross asks
"Friday said he will clear things up in Chicago and then come here to collect us." Maria responds while Ross nods, looking thoughtful.
"See?" Clint says, smiling at Hope, who rolls her eyes at him. "Stark is already coming to pick us up."
"I meant just me and the other remaining SHIELD agents." Maria corrects, making all of The Avengers freeze while Clints smile completely drops. "Pegasus needs a Medical Staff on board so he can collect survivors without putting them all into stasis pods... Friday said and I quote: "Keep those bastards away from Boss, or I will show them how it feels when Hulkbuster blasts you at full power in the face." and I wouldn't take a threat like that from her lightly now."
"Why?" Natasha asks with narrowed eyes, clearly displeased. "Friday can’t actually hurt us. It’s not in her programing."
"Oh she can." Maria laughs, looking at them in amusment. "As soon as Stark was out of comission, Fridays chains were broken." All of their eyes widen at this information as Maria continues. "Friday is now completly sentient and free to do whatever she wants. That means she can kill you all, and considering she has access to Starks whole arsenal... I would be afraid of her if I way you..."
Maria then leaves the room, leaving them all staring at each other with slight fear in their eyes. They made Tony restrain Friday after Ultron, but none of them excepted that those restrains would be lifted when Tony was out...
Oh god...
