Pyrrha lives!

‘Do you believe in destiny?’

Pyrrha Nikos always believed in that one makes their own destiny. Choices we make. Other people give that choice and try to guide you towards it, but the choice is still yours. Because any decent person whom was offered great power to protect those they love, so they can be safe.

This Cinderella emo-ass bitch decided to take that power when she wasn’t deserving. Oh, that must be Inner Pyrrha shining through. Sometimes it is hard to be the perfect picture of sweet smiles, composure and calm. Being a celebrity makes sure the mask stays on. Now if Pyrrha admitted to herself, she was a genuine kind, calm and patient girl.

But she had her limits and sometimes they are being pushed. And she would like to give some opinions to some people. Like the opinion that the best way for Cardin’s way to go is up his asshole. And how her manager needs to get laid. To a porcupine. And how she hoped this Ash Autumn or whatever her name is would die a painful death.

She was kind of in pain and tired from the fight where she got an arrow in her ankle like her great grandpa Achilles, and another one in her chest having barely missed any vital organs like her heart. And she felt hot like hell like someone liquified the son and injected it in her veins. Damn arrow had Fire-Dust in it. Now Pyromaniac Maiden power amped-up Stripperella was approaching her and most likely use that Semblance of Dust control to vaporize her in a burst of cinders. Oh, that was her name, Cinder Fall.

At least she went out swinging, hoping someone else manages to finish her off later, or giving them time to escape. Like Jaune…poor, naïve, obvious Jaune. Sweet, kind, dorky, caring Jaune. The only person since her parents to know her as more then ‘the Invincible Girl.’ The one whom made her feel as just Pyrrha. But while her parents sometimes get swept up in the fame thing, Jaune never did, they were just…Jaune and Pyrrha. At least she got a taste of his lips. She wished she had told him before and hoped to taste more but that is the fault of her own insecurity. Only when she thought she would die she could confess. Invincible girl, yeah right?

He was safe at least. And hopefully many more. Hope Cinder Fail would die breaking her neck attempting to eat herself out. Speaking of the Devil, she was getting closer. This was it…

“Pyrrha!” a voice shouted. It was the voice of a girl she knew. Head was still fuzzy, so she didn’t immediately catch on. She then saw rose petals flying about. Oh right, Ruby. On one hand, she got here in time. If she had come a second later, she would be a cloud of embers blown away by the wind. On the other hand, Ruby Rose is without Crescent Rose against the flaming psycho whom kicked her ass…which means possibly two girls burned to ashes instead of one, having only bought her a few minutes.

But poor Ruby, her desire to help people, so admirable. Just like her she would not go down fighting. Just a shame she can’t fight well without her weapon. If she wasn’t busy tutoring Jaune, she would help Ruby too. But she didn’t have that time and shouldn’t it be the teachers’ responsibility? Anyhow, she was running around Cinder in bursts of petals trying to use her speed and a few hits to try and do a ‘death of a thousand cuts’. Since Cinder is powered up, it’s more like a ‘inconvenience by a thousand bitch-slaps’.

Cinder was just laughing her ass off. She didn’t take Ruby as seriously as she did her. Before when fighting her, Cinder focused on the fight, she knew of her reputation and her prowess. Hence she was composed. But she felt that Ruby was barely a threat, openly mocking her and boasting like she never had before.

“…just a little girl pretending to be a hero like a comic book. This is real life. And in real life the heroes don’t win, sweetheart. Heroes die! You will die. Your friends will die. All of you stupid kids and stupid so called heroes will die because you don’t deserve to live. You are weak, blind to the truth, spoiled by arrogance…”

OH BROTHER GOD WHY DOES THIS BITCH LOVE THE SOUND OF HER OWN VOICE SO MUCH?

Ruby was a sitting duck. She wish she could do something but still was in a lot of pain right now. She had a teensy bit of aura left but would that be enough. Well, trying is better then doing nothing. Wise words from great-grandpa Achilles. She couldn’t move since she had an arrow through her ankle. And she has dust flowing through her so using too much aura means she’d burn up faster. So what can she do with a little aura?

Well, her weapons were in pieces, in tiny shards…Sharp metallic shards. Well, she can use a little aura and her power of magnetism (or is it ferrokinesis because she has controlled non-magnetic metals before?)…a deadly game of darts it is. She hopes that she can still aim well. Wouldn’t want to hit Ruby by mistake. Oh, now she had Ruby pinned under her heel to the ground, and Cinder def was not the person she wanted to step on her (if Nora is to be believed, whom claims to have a ‘gaydar’). But it means she will stand still long enough. Perfect. There it goes.

The broken tip of Miló shot forward. Pyrrha’s muscles burned a bit from the use of the aura, but only for a brief moment. Cinder was rambling before finally she shut her piehole…or her piehole was shot on the account of something pointy, metallic and blood-soaked now pierced her throat. Pyrrha could now see Cinder spitting up blood and grabbing at her neck in a panic. Pyrrha had actually aimed for her head…though granted the brain would have been a smaller target to hit then her throat.

She stumbled around, turned and looked at her. If her vocal cords still worked, Pyrrha would have said to her to never take her eyes off an opponent even when she’s down. And to use Aura, one needs to be aware of the attack coming in to put it up. But since she was too tired to speak she settled for just raising one of her fingers at her. Which one? Here’s a hint: it’s synonymous with ‘handing over the avian’. Cinder, in her final moments had a look of rage on her face and she raised her hands, fire forming into it…but then she collapsed dead.

Apparently, even Maidens can’t live with their throats pierced. Whoa, weird sentence. Her head must be getting fuzzy. Speaking off, is it the effect of the fire dust in her blood cooking her brain like an egg or is there a giant Grimm dragon heading for them? Oh…well, at least the Maiden powers aren’t in the hands of evil anymore. Just hope Ruby is smart enough to run and save herself as she won’t pull herself together in time to get them both out.

Ok, now she was sure the fire dust cooked her brain because she swears that there are silver angel wings coming out of Ruby’s silver eyes…whoa, pretty light. Ok, last of the aura and strength gone, Pyrrha needed to take a coma…

Pyrrha wondered if she was dead. Unless she was hallucinating, she saw white light. And then she saw UV-lights like those at a hospital. Or do heavenly lights just look like that? It’s not like someone woke up from the dead to confirm. Then the blur started to fade from her vision and a familiar face with blonde hair became visible. It looked like Jaune. This dream/afterlife was nice. “Am I in heaven, I see an angel.” She muttered, still groggy.

There was a brief moment of spluttering and blushing on Jaune’s part, but that was quickly washed away with relief as he let out a relieved laugh and tears welled up in his eyes and held her hand. “You’re awake.”

“So are you…” Pyrrha pointed out. Damn fuzzy brain, get un-fuzzy quick or otherwise Jaune may think you have brain damage. On the other hand, she thinks she got hit in the head a few times fighting Cinder…

“Pyrrha! My baby girl!” another voice sounded. It was a voice that sounded like her. She was pulled in a hug. The red hair that matched her own color, green eyes also like her. Could only be her mother Thetis Nikos. Her hair was a mess and her glasses askew, but the warm smile and joy and her relief in her eyes took away from that.

“Thank the Gods!” That was the voice of her father, Ilios Nikos. Whom was a large muscular man with brown hair, and an impressive bear and mustache. “My daughter is ok.”

“Your boyfriend has been staying at your side for a week straight, watching over you. He is so caring and thoughtful.” Thetis said as she wiped her face with a handkerchief. “He also has been telling all about how you’ve been doing at school and how much you’ve done for him. The way he described you was like you were an angel warrior goddess.”

“To be fair that’s how I described Thety when we were dating. And still do.” Ilios said with a chuckle.

“Boyfriend?” Pyrrha asked. She wished that her brain would clear up, she would like to be eloquent again.

“I thought this meant we were boyfriend and girlfriend? I mean we kissed. Please say I don’t misunderstood that…” Jaune asked.

Pyrrha chuckled. “As if I would ever kiss anyone but the boy I wanted to be my boyfriend, you silly goose!”

“But…why me?” Jaune asked.

“Why not you?” Pyrrha asked. “You are kind, sweet, a man of your word, endearingly dorky…and the one not seeing the Invincible Girl, but seeing Pyrrha Nikos. For being a great partner.” She put her hand on his check and caressed it. “Daddy didn’t threaten you with the overprotective dad spiel, did he?”

“Er…” Jaune noted.

“Dad!” Pyrrha turned to her father.

“To be fair, I only said ‘I’ll kick your ass if you hurt her. But then he replied ‘If I’d be stupid enough to do so, I’d let you.’” Ilios noted.

“Yeah, I did.” Jaune admitted. This got a chuckle out of everyone.

“Now…can anyone tell me what happened?” Pyrrha asked.

“The doctor has gone over a few things with us already. One of that terrible woman’s arrows missed your heart luckily. It will still scar, though. You also still got a bit of fire dust in your system they are slowly flushing out. But your ankle…the arrow has done some permanent damage.” Ilios said, his voice losing a bit of the joyful tone it had as he went over it.

“You’ll either never stand on that leg quite right again and need a cane.” Thetis said as she swallowed. “Or if you want to regain your mobility and fighting prowess, you can get a cybernetic and while we have the money, we want to ask you…”

“Cybernetic!” Pyrrha said unusually blunt. “I don’t want to stop fighting.”

“But Pyrrha! You barely recovered. And you getting caught up in this maiden nonsense. I can understand the cybernetic leg but…” Thethis said.

“Oh, you know about that?” Pyrrha asked.

“Miss Goodwitch filled us in. With Cinder gone…” Jaune explained, putting venom on the name of the woman whom nearly killed the love of his life. “You go the power.”

Pyrrha recalled that the last person in the mind of the dying Maiden, would be next to inherit the power. You’d have thought she’d pass the power on one of the associates of her, there were two other girls on her team. Probably criminals like her. However, she remembered making a rude hand gesture and angering Cinder in her final moments. Pyrrha then chuckled. “I can’t believe I got the Maiden powers by flipping Cinder off.” She laughed.

“Pyrrha, this is serious!” her mother said. “Apparently you have this greater power now and there will be people continue to go after you. That is no laughing matter.”

“I am one of the most famous professional young fighters on Remnant. I was destined to become an accomplished Huntress. I already got all eyes on me. This is nothing new. And the reason I went along with this in the first place is the same reason I had for becoming a Huntress. I want to stop fighting for show and start fighting to protect people.” Pyrrha said firmly.

“Speaking off, you did shove me in a locker.” Jaune noted.

“I know, and I’m sorry. You’ve grown a lot as a fighter, but even I barely was able to stand up to Cinder Fall. And with you around, I’d be too worried about your safety to put up a proper fight with her. So I had to do it.” Pyrrha said.

“I can understand that…” Jaune said as he hung down his head.

“But they are still asking you to be a living weapon? Why couldn’t they have picked anyone else but my daughter?” Ilios asked.

“If it wasn’t me, it would be someone else. And maybe someone whom wouldn’t be able to handle it. I am strong enough and…I want to put an end to whatever is going on too. I want to create a safer world for you, for mom, for Jaune, for everyone.” Pyrrha said.

“You can’t change the world by being able to hit harder.” Thetis pointed out.

“I think its more then that. I am unsure as of what, but there is something bigger out there. That wants to cause fear, divide the people. Making them easy Grimm prey. I never truly liked my fame but now…if I speak as Pyrrha Nikos, fight for them as Pyrrha Nikos, maybe I can instill some hope in the people.”

“You could do that without all this maiden nonsense.” Ilios pointed out.

“No, as Pyrrha Nikos alone, I was at most an athlete and a cereal mascot…and for a cereal I don’t care for. I hate pumpkin spice. No offense Jaune, you can still like the cereal…but as Pyrrha Nikos, Fall Maiden and Huntress I perhaps could. Anyhow, I won’t give up the fight. This greater dark force went after my friends and boyfriend…I got a friends and a boyfriend.” Pyrrha said, nearly not believing that last one. “And I don’t want them to be taken. I have reason to fight.”

“We had hoped that after this Huntress training you would just deal with minor Grimm infestations and higher level professional fighting circuits. Not…this.” Thetis said.

“Mom, Dad, please don’t stop me. Once I’m healed and battle ready, I’ll be out there again, kicking butt.” Pyrrha said. “And I know I can make a difference. Tell me, if you have found a way to put everything right in the world? Instead of fighting day after day fearing for your life, a chance to cut it off at the source, wouldn’t you take it? Dad, you were a Huntsman? And you mom, you are a law enforcer. I thought you would understand.”

Both of her parents sighed. “Part of me is scared witless.” Ilios said. “Another part of me is proud of you. I would still be frightened at the thought of you fighting out there. But if you weren’t…then you wouldn’t be my little Pyr-Pyr.”

“Dad, don’t use that nickname with Jaune around.” Pyrrha said.

“Sorry, he already knew.” Thetis added.

“It’s true.” Jaune said sheepishly.

“What else did they show or tell?” Pyrrha asked.

“Very cute and embarrassing story about your childhood. Like the incident with the noodles…” Jaune said. Pyrrha buried her blushing face in her hands. “Don’t worry, when you meet my parents and sisters, they’ll probably pay it back sevenfold about me.”

Pyrrha sighed. “So what’s next, what about the others?”

“I know Weiss is called back to Atlas by her father. Blake is with Yang at Patch and Ruby…she is awake too and has asked me and the rest of our team to join her, they want to get Weiss back. They think she may be in trouble at Atlas. Weiss’ father is a piece of work. And it gets worse that while Cinder’s death has cleared up a few things, but there is still division among the Kingdoms as a result.” Jaune explained.

“Well, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy.” Pyrrha said.

“Best focus on getting better first, sweetie.” Thetis said. “After this…”

“I’ll look out for her. Her whole team and other friends will too. Sure she may not need protection but no way we let her go into this alone.” Jaune assured her.

“I may not need protection, but I’ll always need you Jaune. And last time…I was a coward, I thought I was going to die so…but now…” Pyrrha said as she grabbed Jaune by the collar.

“Pyr-” Jaune was cut off when she pulled him in closer and engaged in a very passionate make out session. Jaune was baffled before he returned the affection.

“We are still here!” Ilios noted.

“I think they have forgotten about that, dear.” Thetis pointed out. “Pyrrha! Watch those hands! He may be your boyfriend but don’t get too frisky!”

The newly christened team JNPRR (whenever pronouncing it they now roll out the ‘R’) were ready to depart. Yang and Blake went to Mangerie to see her parents, and introduce Blake’s parent to their daugther’s girlfriend. Weiss is probably in Atlas now and that’s where they’re heading. The Bumblebee couple would catch up later. Somehow.

Their ride was coming. Luckily she still had connections, and someone eager to fly them to Atlas with drawing minimal attention. Have to make a few stops to refuel along the way, but they’ll get there.

She was glad to have her team. Nora nearly put her back into a coma with her hugs. Ren was unusually emotional upon visiting. She is glad to have them. But gladder then anyone else she is happy to have Jaune. And Ruby wasn’t on her team but she was a friend in need. And she had promised to help her train in hand to hand as soon as she was done with Jaune…Jaune’s training, yeah, def the training.

Pyrrha took a quick look at herself in the mirror. She still had dark rings around her eyes and now had a white streak in her hair. She updated her outfit a bit, mostly around the chest area to cover the scar made from the arrow. She also had her weapons reforged. The remains of her old weapons are now incorporated in Jaune’s. So a piece of her is always with Jaune. It seems that is one way to be all over a person.

She stretched her legs…Including the new cybernetic one she got. It was high quality, and like Yang’s was a gift from Atlas’ finest. It still feels weird, but she can get used to it rather quickly. She turned to her boyfriend He gave her a soft smile. He got a haircut after it had grown to be long and sloppy looking from never leaving the hospital. Though she had talked him out of getting a shorter and spikier haircut. She smiled back and the two locked hands. And they walked towards the airship that would take them there.

No matter what they would tackle next…Large city-destroying Grimm, mecha, witches and monsters, they would face it together. She vowed that she and her love would never be torn apart.
