Chapter 4

“What are you saying, that he is innocent?”, Clint almost screamed.
“Calm down, he told us how the sceptre works, and apparently a stone inside it influence the user-“, Bruce started to answer.
“Oh! So HE told you that he’s innocent and you believed that??!”, The archer cut him off and gestured towards Loki who was rolling his eyes.
“I am not innocent, and I never said so”, Loki chipped in.
“JARVIS, play the recording”, Tony said while eying Loki, just trying to figure out what was going on inside the gods head.
“Yes sir:”, JARVIS replied and the recording started to play: “Mind control is not an ability I possess, the mind stone is one of few things in the universe that can control minds, and even in that case the user is not completely in control especially if-“, the recording of Lokis voice stopped playing. Thor sat down, visibly concerned.
“We have the sceptre in the lab right now, and we’re going to run some tests”, Stark said.
“There’s no need for that, mortal. I simply lied to you, to see how much you would believe in.”, Loki grinned, and his blue eyes once again stared into Tonys- wait a minute. Blue eyes? Again? What is going on?
“Whats the thing with your eyes? They’re blue again”, Tony pointed out, changing the topic.
“They have always been blue”, Natasha said, rolling her eyes.
“I am afraid that you are mistaken, my brother’s eyes are green”, Thor chipped in.
“I’m not your brother”, Loki hissed back.
“Look at his eyes, they’re clearly bright blue right now, but in the lab yesterday they were clearly green”, Tony said. His mind was already going in all sorts of directions to think of why.
“Yesterday? As in before-we-got-the-sceptre-in-the-building?”, Steve asked carefully.
“Yeah- oh. Yeah…”, Tony answered as the realization hit.
Without any further talking, Natasha attacked Loki from behind. The God wasn’t ready for the sudden attack, and therefore didn’t dodge. He fell to the floor before he even knew what happened. Tony catched him before he could hit the floor and dragged the taller man to the couch. The god wasn't completly uncounsuis, but his eyes were blurry.
Natasha snatched Clints water bottle from his hand, and then emptied it over Loki. The black-haired man opened his eyes almost at once. His green eyes. Green. Loki stared, shocked, at Natasha as he blinked a few times. As those emerald eyes focused on his surroundings, there was a clear case of déja vu, as the avengers were staring down at him. The god shifted uncomfortably in the sofa.
“Brother, you are going to tell us everything.”, Thor stated.
“I am not your brother, I never was. And I will not tell you anything”, the younger god answered, eyeing the older one.
“You do know that if you do not tell us now it will only be more uncomfortable for you later on as we will use other methods”, Thor warned.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! That sounds an awful lot as threatening with torture, and that will not be happening”, Stark interrupted, stepping in between the two gods.
“I would never hurt my brother”, Thor started, Loki scoffed, and Thor glared at him. “But there’s other methods, like a truthspell”, the older god explained.
“But you can’t cast spells Thor”, Loki pointed out and grinned. Thor met his brothers eyes and frowned.
“You have been away from Asgard a long time, and I have learnt to cast a few spells with the help of a book”, Thor tells him, not without pride. “I have a book with spells, it should be in my room”, he says while turning to the other avengers. Loki suddenly doesn’t look as sure of himself as he did before.

Before to long, Loki found himself tied up on a chair with Thor standing in front of him. Thor was searching the book for the right spell, and grinned when he found it. Loki shifted nervously in the chair.
“Tala sannt”, Thor said, his eyes suddenly glowing, and a blue glowing energy escaped his body. The energy spinned around Loki, and then emerged into the younger gods chest.
“Did it work?”, Tony asked, amazed with what he just had witnessed.
“Yes it did”, Loki answered. He looked surprised with what he just had said and quickly covered his mouth. Tony laughed with amazement, because god(gods?) this was real magic!
“We can all ask questions now and he will need to answer truthfully, it should work for a few days at least. What do you think, Loki?, Thor said while turning to face his brother. The blonde god looked tired but pretty happy with himself.
“I’m thinking about taking your dagger and stabbing you”, Loki answered before once again looking surprised, and this time guilty. Tony stared at him for a second and then started laughing.
“The god of lies can’t tell lies? You got to see the irony”, he says while laughing. Loki just stares at him, without saying a word.
“Okay, so it works, lets ask the important questions then”, Steve interrupts.
“What happened after you let go of Gugnir and fell into the void?”, Thor asked in a serios tone. It was clear that this had been nagging him for the longest time.
“I fell”, Loki answered with a broken voice.
“Where did you land?”, Thor insisted
“In the sanctuary. The Other was there and…”, Loki answered, once again with a broken voice. The group of heroes looked at each other. Sanctuary? Other?
“The Other what?”, Tony blurted out after a few seconds of silence.
“The Other”, Loki repeated. “He was the one in charge over the Chitauri, he worked for the Titan”, he explained without looking anyone in their eyes.
“Loki, this isn’t going to be easier if you don’t explain everything from the start. Tell me everything that happened after you tried to kill yourself”, Thor said, obviously saddened by the younger gods pain.
Loki closed his eyes and shaked his head. When he opened them, they were black as the void, with blue irises.
“The Play Pretend King is a talker? I thought he knew better then that”, the words that came out of Lokis mouth was spoken with a voice that wasn’t his own. Lokis mouth grinned and suddenly the gods body twitched and went numb. Loki fell forward, only the ropes held him back from falling to the ground.
“Well… that was a bit unexpected”, Tony stated while staring at the gods numb body. A few strands of the dark raven hair covered his pale face. Without really thinking about it, Tony grabbed the god gently and pushed him back into the chair. When the pale god looked a bit more comfortable, he stepped back and looked at the team.
“We’re fucked”
