Black and white
When Bucky was young, he didn't really had anything to do when Steve would get sick and wont leave the bed for days. He would wander during the day, but soon would get home to his sisters watching some rom-com thing. Cons of having 3 younger spitfire sisters is that they never change the channel. He liked the show thought. The idea of love being waking up to your wife, breakfast in the morning, and goodbye kisses like a promise to bring back flowers. It was appealing to him, a relationship just like his parents, and a love just like on the black and white screen.
Red
Then he was taken, and love meant nothing but a useless four lettered word in his vocabulary. He met Natasha in the Red Room. It wasn't love, cause he no longer knew what that meant, but it was something. He could see them partnering up, killing their enemies as smoothly as dancing on a tightrope.Flying bullets their melody. They would clash, fight, burn to the last embers, but still come back, kissing in the rain, biting till it draws blood.
The risk of them getting caught was high, but the adrenaline was higher. Drugs in the air and blood in the water, for a while, love was but her red hair.
Golden
Now that his brain is less fried, he finally understood what love is, or more exactly, who. Bucky likes Sam. Sam with his cool wings and stupid pet bird. Sam with his gap toothed smile and shit-eating grin. Sam and his un-timely movie references which drive Bucky crazy. But also Sam forcing Bucky to watch his faves on movie night so that they can invent their own secret spy language with movie references. Bucky hates it. Hates that he loves Sam like nothing before.Sam, free in the sky, flying with daylight an aura around him. Painting his heart a gold so blinding. And this time, Bucky cant imagine anything. He doesnt know what their life will look like, and it scares him, it scares him so bad, but he wants to know, wants to live it with Sam. Will it be goodbye's like a promise to come back or kissing in the rain till you cant breath.
Or will it be a golden ring round their fingers, finally, forever.
