It had been years since Loki and Sylvie slept in the same room, let alone the same bed.
"You're twins," Odin had said flippantly, "Of course you can share a room."
This reunion was a thorn in Loki's side and he couldn't wait to be free of these people he called 'family'. Thor had brought his newest girlfriend Jane, who, by all accounts, was far too accomplished for him. Hela took a sadistic pleasure in the verbal jabs she aimed at he and Sylvie's closeness, eyes flashing with a knowing that made Loki's stomach clench uncomfortably.

Sylvie closed the door to their room with a soft click, bringing Loki out of his head and back to the present. It had been too long since he had seen his twin, since he had run from the twisted feelings in his gut that flared up at the sight of her. But here they were, alone together at last.
"I'm tired Loki. Father, Hela, this whole happy family charade.. I'm just tired." Sylvie was facing the curtained off window, her body still as a mannequin as the silence between them seemed to slowly crush Loki's chest
"Aren't you tired?" She turned now, watery blue eyes boring into wide green. "I hate pretending to be something I'm not."

Loki finally managed to open his mouth to ask his twin what exactly she meant, but his words died in his throat as Sylvie turned back to the window and removed her black sweater, revealing nothing but smooth skin underneath. Loki's mouth, now gaping and inexplicably dry, hung agape as his twin removed the rest of her clothes, changing into an oversized shirt for bed. He tried not to think about how much she had grown since the last time he had seen her like this, but his mind had always been prone to wandering.

"Aren't you coming to bed?" Sylvie's voice brought Loki from his stupor and, with eyes drawn to where she patted the sheets beside her, he blindly rid himself of his shirt and slacks, slipping under the covers with her.
"I've missed you" Loki finally managed to mutter into Sylvie's skin, his body pressed against hers, arms wrapped around his sister's waist like a lifeline.
"They were wrong to keep us seperated, to send us to different colleges, I.." Loki's voice grew stronger as he felt his emotions come to the surface, "We're not supposed to be apart Sylvie you know we-"

"Shh," Sylvie rolled over so they were practically nose to nose, "Loki it's fine, we're here now, I'm not going anywhere." Her usually teasing tone had now turned serious; he was worrying her.

"I'm sorry Syl," Loki breathed, "When I'm with you I just-"
Sylvie surged up suddenly and gently pressed her lips to Loki's. She gently coaxed his tongue to entwine with her own, pulling away far too soon with a tug of teeth on his bottom lip
"Me too." She whispered, placing one more chaste kiss on her brother's lips. She dropped her head against his chest and let her eyes close, a small smile gracing her usually sharp features.

Loki slowly raised the arm that wasnt trapped under his sister and ghosted his fingers over his lips, tracing the place hers had just been. He looked down at the warm weight on his chest and made a conscious effort to sync his breathing with Sylvie's.

He lay awake for hours just watching her chest rise and fall, memorising the curves of her body and watching the soft emotions of sleep play across her face. The Gods only knew what would come of this when she woke, but for now he could dream that there was no one in the world but he and Sylvie. For Loki, that's how it had always been anyway.
