Accepting Kang's deal seemed like their best and only option. What else could they do? Loki was holding Sylvie's hands looking into her eyes trying to get her to calm down after the fight they've just had. Both of them were panting as their bodies shivered slightly. Sylvie sobbed and trembled, not wanting to look into his eyes, because she knew what would happen if she did. Reason would abandon her and she would become weak and vulnerable, which happened whenever she looked into those beautiful blue eyes, who gazed at her like she was the most amazing creature in the universe. She closed her eyes, as if she was going to be able to escape him and everything that surrounded her, but feeling his hands on hers, she couldn't simply ignore him. The hardest part was not throwing herself into his arms.

The small squeeze on her hands brought her back to reality. She opened her eyes and took another deep breath. He was there. If she accepted the deal, what could go wrong if she had him? Sylvie looked into Loki's eyes and felt butterflies in her stomach. She couldn't take it anymore so she closed the gap between them, kissed him. A tiny and surprised gasp escaped from Loki's lips as he kissed her back, moving his hands to her hips. Neither of them wanted to pull away, but when they did, Sylvie nodded at him. Loki took a deep breath as he smiled at her. They didn't need to speak their minds in order to know what the other one was thinking. He then turned to He Who Remains, holding Sylvie gently by the waist to remind her that with him, she would be safe.

"We accept your deal. However, there are some conditions we should establish first before..."

A terrifying crack interrupted the God of Mischief, who looked around frightened at the loud and threatening sound. He widened his eyes when he realized there was something wrong. The sky was cracking. A voice brought him back to reality.

"Ha! I can't believe you would get fooled by that! You are idiots! Thanks for helping me get rid of you so easily. You both are cosmic mistakes who were in my way. Now thanks to you, I will rule the multiverse along with my variants. I will be the most powerful creature in the universe!" Kang was laughing hysterically. After he was done, he looked at them with a pout on his face."Sadly for you, you won't witness it, because you will be gone by then. "

Loki froze, as all the color from his face was gone. He became pale when he heard his words. He couldn't even move as he started feeling weak and dizzy.

" What are you saying?! Y-you lied to us?"

" Oh, boo-hoo. As if you haven't lied before, God of lies." He said in a mocking tone. "I am not stupid nor gullible, Loki. You two had caused me lots of trouble already for my plans. So, I am doing what I should have done from the beginning, erasing you two. But of course, I had to make sure you wouldn't get on the way. Now you are doomed to disappear forever."

Loki looked around terrified as he watched how the sky was splitting open and everything that surrounded them was melting. That had to be a horrible nightmare. Soon they would only be a memory, but who would remember either of them if their worlds didn't even exist? For the first time ever, he thought he could get a happy ending, a happy life, a joyous future next to the woman he loved. And now it was being taken away from him. He blinked as he felt Sylvie's hand slipping from his own and turned his gaze upon her. She was also pale, her eyes lost on the sight of the sky turning purple and disintegrating right in front of their eyes. The goddess was in shock, and tears started rolling down her face. After a few moments of silence where Loki could only stare at her in complete silence, she spoke.

"Guess you were wrong, uh?" Sylvie joked sadly. "We do die. We are going to lose. I thought I could escape my destiny. I had done so my entire life... I thought we could be happy. What an idiot I was, for thinking I could be happy."

Loki's heart shattered at hearing her so broken and defenseless. He couldn't let He Who Remains, Kang, or however they called him, take away Sylvie's life. She didn't deserve any of that, she had suffered already.

He looked at He Who Remains with eyes full of hatred determined to stop him, when out of nowhere, his body elevated from the ground and a red light surrounded him. His breath became labored as he tried to fight it. A bolt of pain travelled through his body. He screamed as one of his worst fears became true again. Torture by heat. He couldn't see the fire but he could feel his whole body on flames. Panic invaded him.

Kang walked around him and tsked.

"Oh, you are so predictable for the God of Mischief. How boring. How many times have you tried the stabbing trick with your enemies? It didn't go quite well when you used it with Thanos. Besides, you think I am an idiot?! I need to make sure you won't try anything funny, but since you care so much about each other, I will be nice enough not to kill you immediately. I guess a painful death won't be as painful if you have your loved one, right?"

Loki was squirming as he screamed in agony. He felt how dehydrated and weak he was getting. There was no way he could fight Kang after that. Sylvie couldn't even move. She was in shock, as tears rolled down her cheeks watching the man, she discovered she loved, suffering. However, as Loki's screams got louder and as he hurt more and more, Sylvie roared determined to get her revenge on He Who Remains. She ran towards him as a green light emerged from her hands. He merely tilted his head, amused and exclaimed.

" If you know what is good for you and him, you won't try anything funny. His life is in my hands and I can make his suffering even worse." Sylvie stopped at that panting. Kang had a crooked smile on his face as he watched how easily he could manipulate her while having her lover at his mercy.

"Let... Her... Live." He whispered agonizing. "I... I will give you anything. I will do anything you want."

"Uh, interesting offer. What about a deal? I need to know I can trust you, Loki. After all, you love to betray those who believe in you. Let me take your seidr so you have no chance of hurting me. Besides, since you will be gone, you won't be needing it anymore! "

Loki yelped in pain as he barely could speak of how dry his throat was from all the screaming and the heat. He nodded weakly and fell to the floor as the torture ceased. Immediately, some magical cuffs and chains wrapped around his neck and his wrists. Loki locked eyes with Sylvie, who was clearly aching at see him like that. He closed his eyes as he felt how his seidr was getting drained. Sylvie flinched scared as she saw how He Who Remains' eyes shone with a green light as Loki's seidr was transferred to him. She was too scared to move but all she was dying to do was holding his hands. Finally, all of Loki's seidr was taken from him. He collapsed on the floor, trembling from the effort. Kang scoffed looking at him and then at the goddess.

"This worked more than perfect for me. I knew you wouldn't leave him alone, Sylvie. So of course, I don't have to worry about you. Besides, you will be erased from this and any universe. You know? You should thank me, beautiful. At least you will die in each other’s arms. Poetic, isn't it? Hope your death won't be that painful." Kang smirked before vanishing.

Loki panted as they both moved towards each other. With great effort, he got on his knees and he held her as he felt her sobbing and trembling. He could feel her hands clinging to his back, so he whispered soothing words to her ears.

"Shhh, I am here. I will protect you till my last breath. I will use my body to cover you and make sure that no harm is done to you." He paused to pull away slightly so they could look at each other. "Please, Sylvie, I beg you. Leave. Try to escape. Use your seidr, you still have it. Anything. It is too painful for me to watch you die. You deserve to live more than I do. You fought for this and I was the one who screwed it up. "

She shook her head.

"I thought of killing him and leaving you, Loki. That would have hurt you more than this. I am not making that mistake. I will stay by your side no matter what. You go, I go, remember?" She asked smiling sadly as she cupped his face. Loki smiled back at her, pulling her again into his embrace. Her breath hitched once she heard the horrible destruction around them. That was it. That was the end. There couldn't exist a timeline where a Loki, let alone two Lokis, could be happy, so they both clung harder to each other, trying to enjoy their last moments together as they for once accepted their fate, sealing it with a kiss.

"Maybe we are stronger than we realize?"

Her voice pulled him back to the reality. They were both cuddling on the grass, covered by a blanket. Loki blinked before hugging her again as they kissed with passion.

Who would have thought the sacrifice of two Lokis for each other, would be strong enough to save them from their imminent death? Had their love been so powerful that the universe had forgiven them from their cruel destiny?

Loki sighed closing his eyes as Sylvie kissed his face. Was it a dream? What if he was dead? It didn't matter to him, because they for once got what they both deserved. She was okay and they were together, therefore everything would be okay.
