This is The End

"What's going on here?" Tony heard Bruce ask after he heard the sound of the doors opening. 

Tony groaned to himself and rolled to his side so he would be able to see his friend/roommate. He froze when he realized Bruce and He aren't the only people inside the room. There were two, really beautiful girls already picking up their clothes from the floor and putting them on, not bothered by the fact that Bruce came. For a brief moment, Tony stared at them with confusion written all over his face, until he finally remembered small bits of the last night.

"What does it look like?" Tony asked with a raised eyebrow and a smug smirk plastered on his face.

"In my bed?!" Bruce shrieked with an exhausted tone while he rubbed his forehead and tried his best not to look at the half-naked girls, who both released an amused chuckle when they saw his expression.

"What?" Tony quickly looked at his surroundings and realized that he is indeed in Bruce's room. One of the girls, the brunette one looked at him and giggled and Tony is now 92% sure that she is a supermodel for some famous company. Nonetheless, he glanced back at Bruce and gave him a small apologetic smile with a shrug of his hands in a manner that said 'well what can you do' "Oh, sorry about that."

Bruce looked at Tony through his fingers with an unimpressed look. "Jerk."

"Bitch." Tony cheerfully countered with an innocent smile followed by a loud yawn and outstretch of his arms. "Wait a minute..." He paused and looked at Bruce weirdly while pointing at himself and the girls. "If we are here... Where the hell did you sleep last night?"

"Uhmmm, well..." Bruce awkwardly scratched the back of his neck and looked away. "I woke up dangling from the reeling on the roof... Naked."

Both Girls stopped mid-motion and burst out laughing with Tony quickly joining them. Bruce glared at them all with a sharp look with small traces of green in his eyes, but the girls didn't notice and Tony simply found it even funnier.

"Not funny!" Bruce growled at them and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"Depends on who you ask." Tony said with a smirk on his face before another memory hit him and he pointed fingers toward the girls. "Hey? Weren't there three of you...?" Bruce's eyes widened and his cheeks flushed red while one of the girls started laughing even harder than before and the second one gave Bruce a small knowing smirk. Tony noticed this exchange and realization hit him before he pointed an accusing finger at Bruce with a teasing grin. "Brucie-boy! You finally got laid!" His eyes sparked even more with his next sentence. "And on the roof you naughty beast! I'm so proud..."

Bruce rolled his eyes and went to say something but before he could even open his mouth, Jarvis interjected them with his British accent.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I hope you all slept well. The current time is 11 am. The weather is sunny and there are no signs of incoming rain. Mr. Odinson is still asleep from your 'boys' night out in the city' and Ms. Foster is already working on another new project in the lab. She also mentioned that she will kill all of you when you wake up for getting so drunk and being so loud at 3 in the morning." Jarvis paused for a moment while both Bruce exchanged worried and slightly terrified looks. "I took it upon myself to already order 3 coffins. It saddens me that you will leave us so soon..." Jarvis continued with a snarky and amused tone.

"You don't have to sound so pleased about it, J!" Tony reprimanded and glared at the ceiling.

"I know." Jarvis smugly replied. "I want to."

Bruce chuckled and leaned against the doorway. "He got you there, Tony. I believe you are now regretting giving J complete sentience?"

"No..." Tony trailed off with a grimace. "He is just an annoying little brat!"

"Sir, you appear to have 84 new text messages and 24 missed calls. 6 of those missed calls and 11 messages are from Ms. Potts." Jarvis informed and Tony's eyes darkened at the mention of Pepper while Bruce gave him a concerned look. "2 text messages are from Colonel Rhodes informing you about the status of his mission in Europe, 4 are from Doctor Christine Palmer, and 14 messages are from young Lily Rhodes, tho most of them are just funny video." Tony smiled after hearing this and immediately reached for the phone that was on the nightstand next to him. "Most of the remaining messages are concerning Stark Industries and the remaining phone calls are all from Maria Hill."

Tony paused scrolling through his phone and looked at the ceiling in shock. "Huh?"

"Maria?" Bruce questioned with a confused look on his face before looking at Tony weirdly. "I thought she didn't like you very much..." He paused and gave Tony a tired and pleading look. "Please tell me you didn't sleep with the Sub Director of S.H.I.E.L.D"

"I... don't think so?" Tony offered with a look of uncertainty that didn't make Bruce feel any better. He then shrugged and released a heavy sigh. "Jarvis, call Maria Hill. I'm kinda curious about what she wants from good little old me."

The phone rang five times until Maria picked up. Tony was about to greet her with his usual annoyance but before he could say even single word gunfire came from the other side of the call and both Tony, Bruce and The Girls who are now fully clothed jumped in surprise.

"Hill." Maria casually announced with a slightly exhausted voice as if there was no gunfire a second ago.

"What the fuck was that?" Tony shrieked.

"Stark." Maria acknowledged with a breath of relief which surprised both Tony and Bruce because Maria always looked annoyed in Tony's presence. "I was trying to get a hold of you for the last half an hour! Both you Banner, the rest of The Avengers, and a lot more people are in grave danger!"

“From whom?” Bruce asked with a slightly alarmed voice.

"From us!" Maria yelled with a stressed and breathless voice that gave them the impression that she was running. "Hydra infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D from day one of its existence. We have all been doing their dirty work for them! Hydra is everywhere.  S.H.I.E.L.D, Government, and only god know where else they have their stinky fingers. The head of The World Security Council, Alexander Pierce, was one of the leaders of Hydra! He wanted to use Project Insight to remove all potential threats that could threaten Hydra's uprising!"

"Sir!" Jarvis interjected. "The three S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarriers we helped to create just fell on top of Washington DC. The authorities are currently reporting 23 casualties and 71 injured." Both Tony and Bruce exchanged horrified looks but Jarvis wasn't done yet. "I have also detected massive movement on the publicly accessible servers. S.H.I.E.L.D is uploading their entire database online. The hacking style is identical to the one Agent Romanoff uses."

"Say what?!" Tony yelled at the top of his lungs as he jumped out of the bed ignoring the fact that he was completely naked and how Bruce uncomfortably grimaced and looked away from him and kept his eyes on the ceiling.

To prove that Jarvis wasn't joking, he projected a hologram of the personal files of everyone who was deemed as a threat level Alpha by Project Insight.

At that moment Jane and Thor, who was still sleepy and in his pajamas rushed into the room with Jane frantically waving a tablet in front of their faces, so quickly that Tony and Bruce had a problem actually seeing what was on it even when they tried to copy her movement with their heads.

"Have you guys seen the news?!" Jane shouted with a horrified look on her face. "Three S.H.I.E.L.D Hallicarrriers just fell on top of Washington DC! It's a freaking nightmare out there-" She froze mid-sentence when she realized that Tony is still completely naked.

"This is only the first page of the list." Jarvis added, unbothered by Thor and Jane's presence.

"It's all of us..." Bruce whispered with a horrified look.

"I don't understand..." Thor said with a confused frown while he covered Jane's eyes with one hand which snapped her out of her sudden staring contest.

"J, try to intercept the upload and download all the files into our most secure servers," Tony ordered while he quickly picked up his pants and put them on. "Try to dig through the personal files of every Agent and separate S.H.I.E.L.D from Hydra operatives."

"I will try but, Sir, there is another problem on the horizon," Jarvis informed. "It appears that a manhunt on all S.H.I.E.L.D Agents outside Washington officially begun. Hydra is blocking all S.H.I.E.L.D's communication channels so I cannot send out an official warning. It also appears that all S.H.I.E.L.D. ID cards have trackers located inside of them."

"Of course they do." Tony muttered to himself with a voice full of sarcasm. "Hill, get rid of your ID card and get your sorry ass in here! Try to contact every single Agent you can on your way."

"I... Alright..." Maria muttered and the call ended.

"Jarvis, send out The Iron Legion. Lethal force is authorized. Save as many Agents as you can and get them to safety. Any Stark-owned facility will do. Also, set all of our fabricators in every Stark Industries facility on Legionnaire duty. We need a lot more Legionaries than five for this mission." Tony ordered as he picked up his shirt and put it on. "Call Christine Palmer and inform her of the situation. Tell her to bring her cute ass in here and bring an army of her co-workers with her. We will need Medics. Also, dial Rhodey for me."

"Calling Colonel Rhodes." Jarvis obeyed and from outside the window, they all could see The Iron Legion flying on their mission.

"Thor, you need to stay here," Tony said as he turned to Thor. "From what I gathered all of us are alpha level targets. I need you to make sure that this Tower is secure for us, the doctors Christine will bring, and the refuges The Iron Legion will collect."

"Aye!" Thor beamed with confidence as Mjolnir flew into his hand and his pajamas were magically transformed into his Asgardian battle armor. "I will protect our home, Man of Iron, you can be sure of that!"

"Uhmm..." Tony hummed with a blank face before looking at Bruce. "Keep an eye on Pointbreak." Thor pouted at this but Tony ignored it and looked at Jane. "You on the other hand keep an eye on Bruce. I'm leaving this in your capable hands, Janie."

"Leaving?" Jane asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yep," Tony said while popping out the p while Rhodey finally picked up the phone.

"Tones?" Rhodey called out. "What the fuck is happening, man?! The Military Channels are crazy! They are all saying something about S.H.I.E.L.D being compromised and done? I think I also heard something about Hydra?"

"It's all true." Tony quickly replied, not dancing around it."S.H.I.E.L.D is finshed. A manhunt on all remaining Agents has begun. You, me, Bruce, we are all on Hydra's list too. I don't know about your family but I'm sending Veronica to your place. Just to be safe."

"Alright." Rhodey breathed out. "Thanks, Tones. It means a lot. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Are you still in Europe?" Tony asked while he bit his lip.

"Yeah," Rhodey answered.

"Alright, J? Give Rhodey the list of all known Agents in his location," Tony ordered.

"It's done, Sir," Jarvis replied.

"I got it," Rhodey announced. "I will evacuate as many Agents as I can. Stay safe, Tones. All of you stay safe."

"We will. Good luck." Tony smiled and ended the call. Tony glanced at the holograms that Jarvis projected earlier and focused on the name Laura Barton. He froze at the information about her family and concern crawled up his face "J, patch me to Clint Barton. Now!"

"What is it?" Bruce asked in worry.

"Look at the file of Laura Barton." Tony replied as he moved away from the bed and closer to the balcony. Bruce, Thor, and Jane did as he told and their eyes widened in shock.

"Shellhead." Clint greeted with a warm and friendly voice. "Make it quick. I'm in the middle of something-"

"You are in Sokovia, I know. I can see it." Tony quickly interjected. "Clint, Natasha leaked the whole S.H.I.E.L.D database on the internet. You are compromised. Every S.H.I.E.L.D Agent including your wife is compromised and in danger. Get rid of your S.H.I.E.L.D ID and get to safety!"

"How do you know about my wife?" Clint almost growled. "Fury removed my family from my personal file!"

"Well, he forgot he forgot to remove your wife's file!" Tony hissed back.

"Actually, Mrs. Barton's file was updated only one hour ago by Alexander Pierce himself," Jarvis informed them.

"What?" Clint loudly gasped.

"Pierce is Hydra." Bruce said. "According to Hill, Hydra infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D from the very beginning. Hydra ordered a manhunt on all your co-workers, Clint, including you and the rest of us. You need to get out of there!"

"I-I'm... The mission I'm on concerns Pierce." Clint hesitantly revealed. "Fury called me only a week ago. He thought that Pierce might be hiding something in Sokovia. My mission was to explore this abandoned base that is not abandoned at all. There are armed men everywhere I look. They have something in here. If Pierce is really Hydra then I suspect it is something that Hydra wants to keep a secret."

"Maybe..." Tony admitted with an exhausted sigh. "Rhodey is in Europe now. Jarvis will give him a call to offer you a backup. Secure whatever they got in there and bring it back to The Avengers Tower. Save as many of your co-workers as you can. I will go retrieve your Wife and Kids personally. You have my word that nothing will happen to them. I promise. "

"I- Thank you, Tony." Clint said and hang up with a still worried voice that everybody thinks is justified.

"Alright..." Tony muttered to himself as he cracked his fingers and opened the doors to the balcony. "Jane, give a call to Happy and Potts. Tell them to make a massive supply run. Toys, food, water, medical equpiment, everything." He walked out on the balcony and turned around to look at them all. "I will stay in touch." He promised with a smirk and leaped off the balcony.

Bruce sighed to himself while Thor, Jane, and the two girls who were frozen to their spots with shocked looks all ran to the balcony and released a breath of relief when they saw Mark 43 ejecting itself from The Tower and closing around Tony's falling body.

"I hate when he does that," Bruce said with a shake of his head before he flashed the two girls (whose names he can't remember) a small polite smile. "I believe it will be for the best if you go home. Don't worry. I'm sure Tony will give you a call when he is free." He lied and they all knew it but nobody mentioned it.

"The farm looks nice from the outside, don't you think, J?" Tony commented as he closed in on the Barton Farm’s location. "I mean... If you remove those ugly SUVs and the heavily armed assholes it looks like an ordinary farm. Which is weird considering it's the home of two S.H.I.E.L.D super spies."

"Whatever you say, Sir." Jarvis replied in amusement.

"But come on!" Tony scoffed. "Seriously? How many men do they need to take out one woman who has been retired for almost a decade? Who is this Laura chick anyway? A bloody terminator?"

"According to her personal file, Laura Barton was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent with clearance level 8. She was best known for being a master of hand-to-hand combat who was evenly matched with Agent Romanoff and even bested Agent Barton himself." Jarvis answered.

Tony made an impressed look in his helmet and chuckled. "I can see why Clint went for her already. Birds apparently attract each other."

"Apparently." Jarvis agreed with a hint of laughter.

"Alright... Showtime baby." Tony muttered to himself as he flew past the Hydra Troopers and hovered in mid-air above them like a God who came to cast his judgment down upon them. "I will say it only once. Walk away." He warned but the only reply he received was a missile from an RPG that he easily dodged and shot out of the skies. "Alright. Have it your way. Jerks..."

A missile launcher retracted from Iron Man's left gauntlet and he immediately fired a missile at the closest SUV to his position. The Car immediately exploded and two unlucky men were caught in the explosion. Another set of missile langers popped out on Iron Man's shoulders and smaller missiles fired down upon the Hydra troopers, killing most of them on the impact.

As the fire slowly died down around the remaining Hydra troopers, Iron Man dropped from the skies and landed directly on one Trooper's back, crushing his spine and killing the man instantly. Iron Man immediately outstretched both of his hands and fired his repulsor beams at the nearest two Troopers, burning a hole in their chests. Before their bodies dropped to the ground, Iron Man launched himself at the Trooper who was trying to run away and slammed him to the ground. He then proceeded to stomp on the top of his head, crushing his skull instantly.

One Trooper decided to make a run for it and ran directly towards the house. Iron Man noticed this and quickly pointed his hand towards the trooper, but before he could fire his repulsor, the Trooper froze in his tracks and started choking on nothing. To make it even weirder, he then levitated slightly above the ground before a loud snap of bones echoed through the area and his body went limp.

Tony froze and looked down at his hand in confusion. He knew that it was him who did it but he doesn't have single a clue as to how. He quickly snapped out of his frozen state when the last remaining trooper tried to franticly run away from the scene. Tony didn't pay him much attention and just shoot him without even looking. He then quickly approached the house and his heart started beating faster when he saw the doors were already opened. He didn't waste any time and pushed the door open only to be met with a sight that he didn't expect at all.

In the middle of the room was a woman, fully covered in blood from head to toes with only two knives in her hands. Around her were body parts scattered around the whole room with dead corpses of men that look like they had a date with the devil. The walls were practically painted with blood as well and Tony started to realize why this woman had a level 8 clearance at S.H.I.E.L.D.

It's because she is an artist of course. With the blood of her enemies.

"Hi!" Laura cheerfully greeted as she moved a bloodied strain of her hair that was falling into her eyes behind her ear. "I take it Clint send you?" She checked him out from toes to head and smiled as if somebody tell her a joke. "Iron Man. I'm afraid you are a little bit late as you can see..." She pointed at the carnage around her and threw the knives on the couch next to her. "Can I offer you something to drink?"

Tony blinked a few times at her, which she didnt see because his faceplate was still covering his face. "What?"

"Can I offer you something to drink?" Laura repeated and moved behind the kitchen counter. "I have milk, orange juice, soda, and pretty much everything except alcohol."

Tony isn't the one who likes to push his luck but right now he has to mentally try: Could this day get any weirder?

"Uhmmm. That juice will be fine, I guess." Tony shrugged and stepped out of the suit. "Sentry mode." He called back to the Suit and the Suit moved to guard the doors. He walked among the corpses and dropped on the chair in front of the counter. Laura poured him the juice and Tony took a sip before he settled it down on the counter and smiled. "So... You are the famous Mockinbird I have never heard about."

"I guess I am," Laura replied with an amused look on her face. "Although, I’m retired."

Tony raised his eyebrow and looked around them at the corpses on the floor before he glanced back at Laura and nodded with sarcasm heavy in his voice. "Yep. I can see that. Totally."

Laura chuckled at him and threw a blueberry in her mouth as she leaned at the wall behind her and turned serious. "So, do you have any idea who these guys were?"

"Hydra." Tony answered and Laura frowned at him. "God, I feel like I should record this sentence for the future..." He muttered to himself and finished his juice. "Alright, so, Hydra apparently infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D from the very beginning. I don't know many details about it but I know that Rogers and Romanoff figured it out and stupidly released all of S.H.I.E.L.Ds files, including personal intel about all of the agents like Clint and you on the internet for everybody to read. Hydra's last act was to order a manhunt on the remaining  S.H.I.E.L.D Agents and high-valued targets like Me and the rest of The Avengers." Laura's face twisted into an angry look and Tony completely understood why. "I came here to get you and your kids into a safe location where Clint will meet us."

"Is he okay?" Laura asked with a worried look on her face. "I know that Clint went on a secret mission from Fury but I haven't heard from him for two days now..."

"He is fine." Tony quickly reassured. "I talked with him before I came here. He is aware of the situation and War Machine went to assist him on his mission. He is safe with my Rhodey-bear." His face then twisted into a dark look as he cracked his knuckles. "Something that I can't say about the other remaining Agents. I have sent my Iron Legion on retrieving missions but there isn't enough of them to save everyone."

"At least you are trying." Laura kindly told him with a look of gratitude as she placed her blueberries down and sighed. "Alright, we will come with you."

Tony nodded and stood up. "Where are the kids?"

"In their room." Laura replied with a grimace. "I would prefer if they didn't see their mother covered in blood and dead corpses. Cooper, my oldest, is only 7 years old..."

Tony hummed in acknowledgment as his eyes fell on his suit that was still standing near the doors. He looked back at Laura and grinned at her. "I have an idea."

"Welcome to The Avengers Tower, Little Agents!" Tony cheerfully announced as he carried two kids in his arms. "Don't worry. We have cookies. I think..."

Lila and Cooper both immediately glanced at their surrounding with wide eyes that made Tony feel surprisingly really good. That feeling however vanished completely when he saw at least 50 people, who looked scared and a bit run down, gathered around the floor.

Tony quickly made his way to his private elevator before anyone could bring him into a conversation. It's not like he doesn't want to talk with them but it's already the middle of the night and he is pretty sure that both Little Bartons are tired, considering they didn't say a word at being in The Avengers Tower. To prove his guess, Lila released a small yawn and leaned her small head against his chest.

"J?" Tony softly called out when he saw that Cooper was slowly closing his eyes. "Take us to whatever floor, Bruce and the others are."

The Elevator closed without a response and Tony took this short time to think. Why the fuck didn't Rogers, Romanoff, or even Fury call him?

Tony helped S.H.I.E.L.D create those Helicarriers. He could've ground them without blowing them up and letting them fall on Civilians! He could've handled the whole information leak better. Jarvis is the first AI on this planet. He could've located only Hydra files and released them to the public. Not every single S.H.I.E.L.D file included their personal information and the list of their relatives. The whole freaking country is in chaos because three motherfuckers couldn't pick up their stupid phones and call him. And they say that he isn't a team player.

Pff... Dicks.

Tony also quickly thought back to what happened on the Barton Farm with that one Hydra Trooper. Ever since the operation that removed the shrapnels and The Arc Reactor out of his heart, Tony felt differently. He of course felt better without the chunk of metal that was 4 inches deep inside his chest, but it was something else... He paid it no mind at first and ignored it but now he knows that there is something different about him. The only problem is that now he doesn't have time to look into it so it will have to wait.

The doors of the elevator opened and Tony was met with the sight of, Bruce Banner, Jane Foster, and Maria Hill behind holographic screens and headsets on their heads, while Thor sat down behind them with his mighty hammer in his hand. When Tony stepped into the room, Thor immediately stood up and went to greet him but Tony quickly made a gesture for him to stay silent and jerked his head to the sleepy kids in his arms. Thor understood the message and nodded and agreement while Tony carried the Kids into his own room and settled them down on the bed.

Cooper and Lila curled up against each other in their sleep and Tony smiled to himself. He was an only child so he doesn't really understand the bond between siblings. He would say that the closest thing Tony has to a brother is Rhodey but they didn't grow up together in their childhood like other siblings do and never really were the cuddly types. He quickly shook himself out of his daydreaming and covered both kids with his blanket before he went to join the others.

The moment Tony closed the doors to the room, Mark 43 landed on the balcony and Laura jumped out of the suit. She stretched her sore limbs with a painful groan before she pointed an accusing finger at him. "This was the worst idea I have ever heard!"

"Come on..." Tony pouted with an amused smile as he walked up to her. "How many people can say that they flew inside of Iron Man suit?" He clapped his hands and nudged her with his shoulder. You are a part of a special club, Laura! Light up a little!"

Laura stared at him with a slightly dropped jaw and a look of disbelief on her face. She quickly shook her head and glanced at the other people in the room, who were looking at her with wide eyes, probably because she was still covered in blood. She quickly cleared her throat and gave them a small wave. "Hello."

"Hello." Bruce, Thor, and Jane said at the same time.

"Laura..." Maria walked up to her with a sad look on her face. She quickly checked the other woman up for any injuries and released a breath of relief when she found none. "I'm so sorry..."

"Yeah... Me too." Laura replied with a pained smile.

"Give me the numbers guys," Tony called out while he powered Mark 43 down. "How many people did we manage to bring safely into Tower?"

"Thanks to Maria we managed to send out a message that informed all Agents who read it about Hydra and what happened with S.H.I.E.L.D." Bruce quickly began as he placed his headset down. "The Iron Legion retrieved 148 people on their own while more than 300 arrived on their own. Only 87 of those people down there are Agents. Around 10 of them are children under the age of 18.  Most of the people The Iron Legion brought were already injured but Dr. Palmer and her co-workers are taking care of them."

"S.H.I.E.L.D was officially disavowed by the United States government. Every agent is now under heavy investigation and labeled a terrorist if they are recognized as Hydra operatives." Maria continued while she looked down at the ground. "Triskelion was heavily damaged when one of the Helicarriers fell on top of it. 31 People were still inside the building. 7 of them died..." She took a deep breath and continued. "Most of the Hydra operatives scattered across the world after Rogers released his freedom speech. Many of S.H.I.E.L.D's most valued items, including Loki's scepter simply vanished."

Thor flinched at the mention of his brother and looked down in guilt while Jane placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Both Tony and Bruce gave him a pitiful look while Laura just looked down at the mention of the lost S.H.I.E.L.D Agents' lives.

"What about our losses here?" Tony quietly questioned.

"8." Bruce answered with a sad look. "5 agents and 3 civilists. One was only a girl who was 17 years old."

Laura's head snapped upwards at the mention of children and she quickly looked at Tony in alarm. "Where are Coop and Lila?"

"They are already sleeping in my room." Tony answered and pointed behind him at the doors. "Go to them. Take a warm shower and get some sleep too. We will wake you up when Clint arrives."

"I will give you some spare clothes." Jane quickly offered.

Laura nodded and gave them a grateful smile. "Thank you. All of you."

"Night, Birdy." Tony called behind her as she walked away with Jane.

"Night, everyone. Night Shellhead." Laura called back with a small chuckle while Tony rolled his eyes at the nickname.

It must be a Barton thing...

When the doors behind Laura and Jane closed, Tony turned to the others and took a deep breath "Alright. Hit me. How many people have we recovered globally and what's the situation with Rhodey and Clint?"

"We have successfully rescued something around 14560 field agents. Stark-owned facilities are currently housing around 70000 people worldwide." Jarvis begun. "Many Star Industries employees also decided to stay and help rather than go home. Ms. Potts already made sure that all of them would get paid double at the end of the month." Tony grimaced at the mention of Pepper but nodded in agreement. "The number of Iron Legion increased to 154 units with more being fabricated as we speak. 104 of those units are already back in the field while the others are being recharged or fixed."

"The Tower was also under a small attack in your absence, Man of Iron, but I took care of it rather quickly. After that, there were no other attacks." Thor stated with a somewhat proud look. "We have also received a lot of thank you letters from the people Lady Jane and friend Banner managed to warn in time."

"Clint and Rhodey are fine." Maria added. "Clint checked up with us only an hour before you arrived. They completed Clint's mission and are bringing the package back here along with 27 other agents."

"Good," Tony muttered to himself while he thoughtfully bit on his lower lip. "Good, so what's the package?"

"That's... a bit complicated." Maria uncomfortably trailed off.

"Complicated?" Tony repeated with a suspiciously raised eyebrow. "Complicated how? Is it a weapon of some sort?"

Maria quickly glanced at Thor and Bruce for help but found none. Thor became too interested in the really beautiful painting of Iron Man, hanging on the wall next to the windows while Bruce looked like he wished to be anywhere else rather than in this situation.

"You could say that..." Maria replied while she bit her own lip. She took a deep breath and decided to just say it as it is. "Look, I'm not going to dance around it. Have you ever heard about The Winter Soldier?"

"I don't think so?" Tony quietly said before he paused and thought about something. The name sounded kinda familiar. As if he heard somebody say that name before. He quickly remembered that he did hear it before. He heard Obadiah Stane talk about him on the phone when he was still a Kid. "I think he is an urban legend? A ghost story. An assassin so good at his job that most don't even believe he exists."

"He does exist." Maria quickly told him. "His real name is James Buchanan Barnes. A World War 2 Veteran and the second in command of the  Howling Commandos. Steve's childhood best friend." Tony's eyes slightly widened at this information. Of course, he knew who Bucky was but like every child, Tony was raised with the knowledge that Bucky died in the war. "The Winter Soldier is a Super Soldier like Steve but brainwashed to follow Hydra's command. He was fighting against Steve on the final Hellicarrier when it fell down. Both He and Steve were still on board. Cap went into a hospital and The Winter Soldier simply vanished."

"And what does The Winter Soldier has anything to do with the package Clint and Rhodey are bringing from Sokovia?" Tony asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Barnes was injected with a similar serum that was given to both Steve and The Red Skull by Arnim Zola." Bruce took over and Maria gave him a grateful look. "Zola was one of the S.H.I.E.L.Ds founders and the one who created this whole new Hydra we are dealing with now. He was also a really smart scientist. According to the file Clint and Rhodey found, Zola became too interested in cloning at one point in his time and started playing with it. His goal was to create another Winter Soldier but better and more controllable than the original."

"Cloning..." Tony repeated in disbelief. "You are kidding me right?" He gave them a look but from their expression, he got the message that they are not indeed kidding. "For fuck's sake... Seriously?! A clone of The Winter Soldier?"

"Not exactly..." Bruce said with an apologetic look on his face as he slowly walked toward Tony and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder which raised alarms in Tony's body. "It isn't Barnes they cloned... She-"

"Dr. Banner?" Jarvis called out and everybody instinctively look at the ceiling. "I believe it will be for the best if Sir saw it for himself."

"Saw what?" Tony questioned with a frown.

Bruce sighed and nodded "Alright..." He whispered and started running small comforting circles on Tony's back.

Tony looked and glared at him but Bruce paid it no mind. Tony was getting impatient with them but before he could snap, Jarvis projected a hologram in front of them, and Tony's eyes quickly burned into it as soon as he saw the name.

"I don't get it...." Tony declared as he looked at them with a frown before a realization hit his face. "Wait, you are saying that Arnim Zola cloned my Aunt Peggy?!"

"Tony..." Bruce shook his head with an apologetic and pitiful look. "Look at the family section one more time."

"What are you talking about-" Tony started in annoyance as he obliged and froze mid-sentence. He stared at it for a while with a dropped jaw.

I" He tried to speak again and his eyes started to get blurry with unshed tears. He closed his eyes but it didn't prevent one single tear from rolling on his cheek. "I'm her son..." He bailed his hands into fists as his face screwed into an angry expression and his red tearful eyes snapped open. "I'm her son!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as Mark 43 activated behind him and the gauntlets flew to his hands and wrapped around them in time as he outstretched his hands and fired at the hologram with rage.
