EIGHT MONTHS LATER

“So, how’s the wedding planning going?” Alex asks, shuffling onto the couch beside Kelly. Kara and Lena share a quick glance before Kara replies.

“It’s good. Eliza’s been such a huge help considering we only have a few months before the wedding.”

“Plus, with Lex officially locked away in the DEO’s prison, it’s been oddly relaxing,” Lena adds, stealing a potsticker from Kara’s plate. Kara swats at her, but laughs, allowing her to bite it before taking the rest into her mouth. Kelly and Alex watch the engaged couple interact, Alex’s heart swelling with happiness for her sister. After she shares a quick kiss with Lena, Kara stands and heads to the kitchen. She grabs the bottle of champagne from the fridge and four flutes from the cupboard.

“What are we celebrating, Kara?” After pouring the bubbly liquid into each of the glasses and handing them out, she raises her glass.

“We are celebrating a lot of things, Alex. First, Lena became National City’s top CEO since she owns LuthorCorp and CatCo Media. Second, you are the official director of the DEO since J’onn retired two weeks ago. Third, Lena and I are getting married in six weeks, and five days, and finally, you and Kelly have adopted a beautiful little girl. I’m an auntie! A lot has happened in these past eight months. Cheers!” Lena, Alex, and Kelly raise their glasses with Kara before clinking them against each other. Taking a sip, Kara glances at Lena, her eyebrows raised. She jerks her head toward Alex. With a small sigh, Lena stands next to Kara at the edge of the couch.

“Alex, I have a question for you.”

“You’re not asking me to stop dropping by unannounced, are you?” Alex asks, setting her glass down. “Because that will never happen, especially since I’m the new director of the DEO.”

“No, no,” Lena shakes her head. “Even though it would be helpful if you did let us know if you were coming,” she mutters. Kara nudges her with an elbow. “No, that’s not what I’m going for here, Alex. Um, I was wondering if you would possibly be my maid of honor?” Alex’s mouth drops open.

“I’m sorry. Did I hear that right? Lena Luthor wants me to be her maid of honor?” Lena rolls her eyes.

“Alex!” Kara hisses.

“Relax, Kara, I’m just being sarcastic,” Alex says, chuckling. Alex stands next to Lena, the raven-haired woman only a few inches taller. “Yes, Lena. It would be my pleasure to stand next to you while you marry my sister.” Kara squeals as Alex and Lena share a quick hug. “So, who else will be in this wedding party?”

“James and Winn are our best men,” Kara says. She sits on the couch again and pats her leg for Lena to join her. “And Kelly has already agreed to be my maid of honor.” As Lena relaxes into Kara’s lap, Kelly quickly takes another sip of her champagne.

“Oh?” Alex turns to her girlfriend. Kelly blushes and casts her eyes down. “How come you didn’t mention anything, baby?”

“I asked her not to, Alex, don’t be upset with her,” Kara explains. She wraps her arms around Lena’s waist, holding her carefully in her lap. Kelly shoots Kara a grateful look before taking Alex’s hand with hers. Alex grumbles something about being kept out of the loop but eventually quiets after Kelly whispers something in her ear. From what Kara can tell, it involves something inappropriate from the way Alex fidgets in her seat. Before long, the bottle of champagne is empty. Alex and Kelly begin making their way to the door.

“Sorry, Kara. We’d love to stay longer, but we have to make sure the house is ready for Esme,” Alex says. “She could be coming anytime within the next two weeks once the paperwork officially goes through.” A huge smile splits Kara’s face.

“Alex, don’t worry. We totally understand.” Lena joins Kara at the door, her arm looped around her waist. “If you need anything from us, don’t hesitate to ask. We’ll be there, anytime.”

Alex wraps her sister and Lena in a tight hug. “Thank you, I will. Maybe we can have a barbecue next weekend? Kelly and I will host.”

“That sounds great, Alex. Goodnight, Kelly,” Kara says, waving from the door. Once they leave, Lena pulls Kara into her. She places a soft kiss against her cheek before capturing her lips. Kara wraps her arms around Lena and picks her up.

“Where are you taking me, my love?” Lena giggles, her legs draped around Kara’s waist.

“Somewhere I can worship your body, baby. You are so stunning in this outfit, but I have been dying to get it off,” Kara says, huskily. She nuzzles Lena’s neck, her lips finding her pulse point. Eventually, they make it to the bedroom, Lena’s shirt and bra are already removed. Kara places her on the bed before stepping back, exploring Lena’s body with her eyes.

“Don’t forget we are meeting with Eliza and the caterer tomorrow, Kara,” Lena states. Kara begins unbuttoning her shirt to reveal her black, lacy bra as Lena attempts to continue her statement. “Darling,” Lena’s voice, while hushed, still emits a warning. Her emerald eyes barely meet Kara’s blue ones as she unclasps her bra and lets it fall to the floor.

“Yes, Lena. I didn’t forget,” Kara whispers in Lena’s ear. As she suckles the outer shell of Lena’s ear, a soft moan rumbles from Lena’s chest. “I’ll make sure you can walk tomorrow, sweetheart.” Lena’s hands fiddle with the button and zipper on Kara’s jeans before undoing both and pushing them over her hips. Kara’s lips find Lena’s, incessantly pressing her tongue against her bottom lip. Before Kara can deepen the kiss, Lena pulls away.

“Baby…” Kara moans. She opens her eyes to meet Lena’s green ones, except her pupils are blown wide, the emerald being swallowed by the black.

“I have an idea, Kara. Lay on the bed.” As Kara obliges, Lena removes her pants and underwear before coming to straddle Kara’s stomach. Placing a hand around Kara’s neck, Lena begins kissing and sucking at Kara’s collarbone, then down to her breasts. Nipping and licking each mound of tissue, Lena quickly slips one of her nipples into her mouth, causing a deep moan to escape from Kara’s lips. Sucking hard, massaging the other breast, and softly moaning, Lena works over Kara’s breasts until they are riddled with love bites.

“Lena, please… baby. I’m so wet for you,” Kara whimpers and squirms. “I need you to touch me…” Lena shifts her hand from Kara’s neck to her lips, placing a single finger against them. Lena reaches forward to grab a pillow before shifting it under Kara’s side.

“I’ll touch you soon, Kara… prop on your side. I’m going to remove your underwear now,” Lena instructs before pulling off Kara’s soaked panties. She grabs a second pillow before lying beside Kara.

“Now what?” Kara asks, lazily tracing her finger down Lena’s arm.

“Now…” Lena shifts them, so their legs intertwine, and their clits are almost touching. “We grind against each other.” Lena moves closer so her clit rubs against Kara’s, eliciting moans from both women.

“Oh, Rao… Lena,” Kara moans. “Where did you learn to do this?” Kara’s hands begin squeezing Lena’s breasts, her fingers pinching and pulling at the hardened buds. A slight blush appears on Lena’s cheeks, pleasure coiling at the base of her spine.

“I-I did some research… I just wanted to try something new, Kara.” Lena rolls her hips harder into Kara, the friction against her clit almost perfect. “Fuck… I can feel how wet you are against me, baby.” Kara grips Lena’s waist, shifting her more on top of her while grating her hips faster against Lena. “I’m close, Kara…” Lena throws her head back and closes her eyes, her hips gyrating faster.

“Come with me, Lena.”

SIX WEEKS AND FIVE DAYS LATER…

“Kara!” Alex’s voice filters through the house, but it barely registers. Kara stands in front of the full-length mirror propped against the wall, smoothing down the barely visible wrinkles on her dress. Behind her, Eliza fusses with little pieces of the dress that don’t look right… or something. Kara’s barely paying her any attention, the nervous butterflies fluttering in her stomach threatening to release the contents. She chews the inside of her cheek absentmindedly, thoughts circling her brain anxiously. “Kara. We’re almost ready out – whoa…” Alex’s sharp intake of breath finally breaks through her reverie.

“Do I look okay, Alex? Eliza can barely answer me without crying .” As if on cue, Eliza sniffles from behind her and ruffles the train of her dress. Alex gapes for a few more moments before striding to Kara’s side. She reaches forward, pulling a few loose strands of hair down around her face. The rest of it remains piled in a twisted bun that makes Kara look and feel elegant. Her hands come to rest on Kara’s shoulders, gripping her tightly. Kara bites her lip as Alex lets out a shaky breath, tears filling her eyes.

“Kara, you look absolutely gorgeous.” She dabs the tears that threaten to fall before continuing. “I can’t believe you’re getting married… my baby sister. I thought Kelly and I would marry before you even found someone,” Alex joked, a small chuckle exiting her mouth as Kara’s drops open with a smile. “Seriously, Kara. You are stunning, Lena will be shocked just like I was when I came into the room.” She pauses for a moment, her eyes scanning Kara’s face as if she’s searching for something.

“What’s wrong? Is my makeup smudged?” Kara begins to turn back to the mirror, but Alex holds her firm and shakes her head.

“Nothing is wrong, Kara. I promise you. Come on, it’s time.” With her words, she drops her hands from Kara’s shoulders to grab the bouquet that Eliza held out to her. Glancing back to her foster mom, Kara takes a deep breath. It’s time to marry Lena.

Alex leads her and Eliza through the house toward the backyard. Lois and Clark graciously offered their farmhouse-style barn for the wedding. As she approaches the entrance, she takes a moment to glance up, watching the few clouds slowly drift by in the otherwise clear blue sky. For a moment, Kara wishes her mother, father, or even Astra could witness the ceremony. The thought immediately passes when Eliza holds out her arm for Kara to take. Without realizing it, Alex had disappeared ahead of them, leaving Eliza and Kara outside the barn doors with Kelly.

“Ready, Kara?” Kelly whispers. Kara nods, taking another deep breath. She steals a quick glance inside the barn with her X-ray vision, trying to calm her nerves. The moment she catches a glimpse of Lena, Kara’s breath catches. Before she can take in more of her soon-to-be wife, Eliza begins walking them the few steps toward the large barn doors flung open wide and pinned to the sides of the structure. When they emerge in the doorway, Kara’s blue eyes shift around the space, a wide smile instantly appearing on her face. The view is breathtaking. The entire barn had been converted for the wedding; every nook and cranny decorated with purple, white, or orange lilies or tastefully made centerpieces that Alex insisted on doing without either of the brides help. At the far end sits the archway, startling white with aesthetically purple and orange lilies decorating the entirety of it. She catches Kelly, Alex, James, and Winn standing in their respective places before locking eyes with Lena. The striking emerald green is blurry with tears, but she’s grinning ridiculously. In likeness with the theme, Lena dons a beautiful, deep royal purple suit with a white handkerchief folded neatly in the pocket. Her raven-colored hair hangs in loose curls around her face, framing the plum lipstick that sits upon her lips. Oh Rao, she’s exquisite.

As Eliza passes her off to Lena and Kelly takes her bouquet, Kara turns to Lena. She reaches out, grabbing her hands, silently thanking her body for not producing extra sweat on her palms. “Hi,” she whispers, suddenly shy.

“Hi, darling,” Lena whispers back, her eyes never wavering from Kara’s. “You look positively striking… that dress.” Kara blushes, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. She knew the dress matched her perfectly from the moment she saw it in the shop many weeks ago. With the clear sleeves sparingly adorned with a floral pattern, the bodice accentuated her bosom and hips before flowing into a slight train. Her entire upper torso was encircled with the floral design, while it remained sparse on the skirt and train.

“Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the beautiful union of Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor. In the time they have been together, their love for each other has grown, turning them into the couple you see before you,” J’onn starts after everyone takes their seats and the music softens. “When I first met Kara, her stubborn and headstrong attitude irritated me in ways I hadn’t even experienced.” There’s a few chuckles in the crowd. “Yet, she brings out the best in people. Everyday, she chooses to see the good in everyone despite them displaying their worst.” Lena squeezes Kara’s hands gently as she blushes at J’onn’s words. “Lena,” He turns to the raven-haired woman. “The way you look at Kara warms my heart. You gaze upon her as though she is the only woman in the universe, and to you, I know she is. I’ve seen these two women share laughs, exchange inside jokes, and most shockingly of all, I’ve witnessed Kara sharing her potstickers.” Several gasps and chuckles in the crowd. Kara titters softly, a few tears starting to slide down her cheeks. “Kara and Lena, have you come here today of your own free will to declare your commitment to one another?”

“We have,” Kara and Lena speak together.

“Do you promise to be there for each other in the good and the bad? To grow with, understand, and respect one another during your life together?”

“We do.”

“Then please face each other and share your vows.” Lena glances questioningly at Kara, who nods, signaling she’ll start.

“Lena, I feel overwhelmingly lucky and proud to be standing beside you today,” Kara begins, attempting to keep her voice steady. “Thank you for accepting me for all that I am. I know I haven’t made it easy to love and support me, but you do unconditionally. We haven’t always seen eye-to-eye on everything, but I know we will always make it work out because of our love. Based on that fact, I know you’re going to make an amazing mother to our children someday. I vow to love you without reservation or conditions. I vow to always protect and support you. When I am with you, I am the best version of myself because I can always be myself around you. I vow to continuously work on myself, and to be the wife you want and deserve.” Kara finishes with a soft hiccup from the tears, and she giggles, wiping at her eyes. Lena reaches forward, wiping a few stray ones from her cheeks.

“Kara, I remember the day we met. You literally saved my life,” Lena smirks, playing it safe despite everyone in the crowd knowing Kara’s identity. “I knew from that moment that you’d be a permanent fixture in my life. My beacon of hope. My love, I promise to be your companion, your friend, your ally in conflict, your greatest fan, and your toughest adversary. Hopefully. You know me better than anyone in the universe, and yet, you still love me. There’s still a part of me today that cannot believe that I’m the one who gets to marry you. I see these vows not as promises but as privileges: I get to laugh with you, and cry with you; care for you   and share with you, including those potstickers. I get to build a life with you, and I vow to cherish that, always.” Lena finishes with a soft smile and squeeze of Kara’s hands in hers. Kara bites her lip, chewing on the soft tissue trying to keep the tears at bay.

“Let these rings represent your eternal love and the promises you have made here today. Let them be a symbol of your unbreakable bond and this new beginning your life together with no end in sight.” J’onn gestures to Kelly and Alex to bring the rings forward, passing them along to the respective brides. “Kara, take Lena’s ring and place it on her finger and repeat after me: with this ring, I promise to love and cherish you to the end of my days.”

“With this ring, I promise to love and cherish you to the end of my days,” Kara repeats, holding the ornately carved wedding band she made for Lena. The inside of the ring brandishes the House of El symbol for hope.

“Lena, take Kara’s ring and place it on her finger and repeat after me: with this ring, I promise to love and cherish you to the end of my days.”

“With this ring, I promise to love and cherish you to the end of my days,” Lena pushes a matching wedding band onto Kara’s finger, shaking only slightly.

“Your love has now been strengthened by the promises you have made here today and the rings you have exchanged. Kara and Lena, we have heard the sincerity in your promise to share your lives in marriage. We recognize your love and support your decision to build a home together. By the power vested in me by the internet, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss!” Kara closes the distance, pulling Lena into her smoothly. Their lips connect, and for Kara, it’s like she’s kissing Lena for the first time again. She blocks out the cheers from her friends and family, kissing her wife a little longer. When they break apart, Lena smiles and Kara returns it giddily. As they walk down the aisle, getting showered with flowers and confetti, Lena leans into Kara.

“You, Kara Danvers, are my wife.”
