Lena Luthor, CEO

Kara squints up into the afternoon sun at the large skyscraper that is LuthorCorp. She’s been conflicted about seeing Lena, especially after the disagreement that she and Supergirl had. And after Kara ran away from her. Kara sighs loudly, drawing the attention of some of the other individuals mulling around the entrance of LuthorCorp. She smiles awkwardly, doing a little hand wave that every bisexual does when they are in the spotlight. Adjusting her glasses, she peers up again trying to regain the confidence she had before she left CatCo. She takes a deep breath and walks through the doors.

“Hi, welcome to LuthorCorp. How may I assist you today?” A different woman greets her at the entrance this time. A mousey brunette with glasses too big for her face looks at her, the large lenses enlarging her soft brown eyes.

“Yes, hi. Perhaps you could help me? My name is Kara Danvers from CatCo Media, and I was here approximately two weeks ago interviewing Lena Luthor. I seem to have misplaced the voice recorder that I had brought. I usually never lose that thing.” Kara knows she’s rambling, but can’t seem to stop. The poor woman in front of her though appears to digest every word she has said.

“Oh, welcome back, Ms. Danvers. I’ll call up to Ms. Luthor and see what I can do. If you don’t mind waiting for a few moments, you can sit over there.” She points to the same seating area Kara sat in previously. Kara nods before sitting down. Pulling out her phone, she pretends to be texting while listening to the woman call Lena.

“Ms. Teschmacher. Good afternoon, I have Ms. Kara Danvers from CatCo Media to pick up a voice recorder she left here.”

“Oh, Ms. Luthor has kept that safely for Ms. Danvers. Let me put you through to Ms. Luthor. One moment.” Kara and the woman wait patiently for Lena to pick up the phone. Soft classical hold music fills the void.

“Audrey, how can I help?” Lena’s voice filters through the phone and Kara instantly melts at the sound.

“Ms. Luthor, thank you. I have Ms. Kara Danvers in the lobby looking for a lost voice recorder. Eve says you have kept it. Should I come to get it from you?” At this point, Audrey looks over at Kara, smiling. Kara smiles back politely like she hasn’t been listening to the entire conversation.

“Actually, Audrey, can you send Kara up? I’d like to speak with her personally.” The tone in Lena’s voice barely changes from professional, but Kara catches the slight hint of uneasiness.

“Of course, Ms. Luthor. Right away.” Audrey hangs up the phone before catching Kara’s attention. “Ms. Danvers?” Kara looks over, sliding her phone back into her pocket.

“Yes?”

“Ms. Luthor has asked me to send you up. She would like to speak with you.” Kara nods. “She’s on the 26th floor again. The elevators are around the corner.”

“Thank you,” Kara says with a teeth-closed smile. Wiping her sweaty palms on her jeans, Kara waits for the elevator to reach the lobby. On the ride up to the 26th floor, Kara tries to think of something to say about why she ran after they kissed. Maybe she could come up with some excuse about Alex. Or a digestive reason. Ugh, it all sounds stupid. Suddenly, the elevator doors open. Kara steps off, unsure of where to go. Luckily, Eve comes around the corner to greet her.

“Ms. Danvers. This way, please.” Kara nods, following Eve towards Lena’s office. The floor is newly built, incomparable to the lower floors that Kara has seen. With the large glass windows lining the hallway, Kara can practically see to the other side of National City. She slows down a moment to take in the view. Kara can see her apartment from here. Not a clear view straight through the window, but still. Eve guides Kara past her desk and stops at the door at the end of the hallway. There’s a little gold placard on the door: LENA LUTHOR, CEO. Eve knocks.

“Come in,” Lena calls, somewhat unenthusiastically. Kara steps through the door. The raven-haired woman barely glances up as she enters. Okay, she deserves that. The room is huge, bigger than the office on the 22nd floor. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows that Kara walked past in the hall continue in the office, taking up two of the four walls and illuminating the space. Lena sits at her mahogany desk in the corner of the space. In addition to the couches and coffee table to the left side of the space, Kara notices that Lena added some kind of reading area to the right. There’s a large armchair, a small bookcase that’s full, and a small side table. It looks rather cozy.

“Thank you, Eve,” Lena dismisses her. Kara stands awkwardly in the middle of the space, studying everything in the office that isn’t Lena. She’s busy trying to read the titles of some of the books when Lena finally speaks.

“Here, Kara.” Looking up, Kara notices that Lena, still sitting at her desk, is holding out the voice recorder. Shuffling forward, Kara takes it gently. It’s so quiet and awkward that Kara physically cringes when she steps back, her shoes squeaking on the linoleum.

“Thanks, Lena,” Kara says, fiddling with the device. After a few more minutes of almost complete silence except for the occasional tap of Lena’s fingers on her keyboard, Kara turns to leave. Then stops. Spinning back around, she faces the raven-haired beauty. “Lena, I’m so sorry about –”

“Kara.” Lena stops her midsentence. Kara swallows hard as Lena’s emerald eyes catch hers. There’s a sadness to them. Kara’s heart breaks. She did that. “Kara, I’m the one who should apologize for putting you in that position. I completely misread the situation and shouldn’t have acted on my feelings. I’m truly sorry, Kara.” At this point, Lena stands, straightening her tight, black pencil skirt. “I hope that we can remain friends from this point on, I enjoyed our conversation. Even if it was for an interview.” Lena laughs hollowly.

“Wait, Lena. You got it all wrong.” Kara licks her lips. “I…” The words die in Kara’s throat as she tries to say ‘I’m Supergirl, I didn’t want our relationship to start with secrets.’ But she can’t seem to form the words. Lena’s watching her carefully, arms crossed. She tries again. “Lena, I just… I couldn’t believe someone like you would want someone like me. Or have feelings. I got scared and ran. It’s been a long time…” She trails off again, remembering the devastating heartbreak she felt when Mon-El deceived her into thinking he was someone she could count on. She wraps her arms around herself as if to protect her heart.

“Someone like me?” Lena raises an eyebrow.

“Uh, yea. A genius who’s drop-dead gorgeous, talented, and has an absolutely amazing personality.” Kara blushes, ducking her head from embarrassment. Lena steps around her desk, coming closer to Kara before tipping her chin back up. Kara bites her lip, trying not to squirm as the contact causes her core to pulse. Without removing her hand from Kara’s chin, Lena leans forward hesitantly, the gap between their lips mere inches.

“Can I kiss you, Kara Danvers?” Lena whispers the question, her breath sending shivers down Kara’s spine. She shifts slightly before nodding, feeling the dampness of her underwear brush against her leg. Oh, Rao, Lena hasn’t even kissed her yet and she’s already a soaking mess. As Lena’s soft lips brush against hers, Kara dissolves into the kiss, the rest of the world falling away. Nothing else matters at this moment for Kara. Lena’s lips feel like home.

Kara feels Lena break the kiss, breathing heavily. Lips buzzing, Kara furrows her brow.

“Did I do something wrong?” Lena shoots her a small smile, her hand cupping Kara’s face.

“Of course not, Kara. I want to continue this more than anything.” Lena sighs wistfully, her thumb gently caressing Kara’s cheek. “I just have a meeting in 10 minutes.”

“Cancel it,” Kara whispers, not wanting the moment to end. Lena laughs, genuinely this time. Kara doesn’t wait for an answer, pulling Lena into another heated kiss. Her hands begin to wander over Lena’s body, wanting to desperately touch all of her right now. Lena takes a few steps forward, starting to guide Kara to the couch. A sharp knock interrupts the two women.

“Ms. Luthor?” Eve peeks her head into the office as Kara and Lena spring apart. “Oh, Ms. Luthor, I apologize. I didn’t realize you still had company.” Eve’s face turns beet red before hesitating.

“Ms. Teschmacher, what is it?” Lena’s tone instantly becomes professional, although Kara can detect a hint of irritation. Kara turns away from Eve, trying to compose herself without much luck.

“Ms. Luthor. I am so sorry, but you have a meeting in 10 minutes.”

“Cancel it.” Lena’s sharp tone cuts through the embarrassing moment. Kara gazes at Lena confused. Eve appears stunned by the certainty of Lena’s command. “Ms. Teschmacher, must I repeat myself?” As Eve once again turns beet red, Kara can’t help but feel a rush of arousal throughout her body at Lena’s authoritative tone.

“N-no Ms. Luthor. It will be done.” She clears her throat. “Is there anything else I can do for you, Ms. Luthor?” Lena looks at Kara, who’s trying to keep a neutral face, before answering her assistant. A thrill runs through Kara’s body as Lena’s green eyes glint suggestively.

“Clear the rest of my day, today and tomorrow. And take the next two days off, Ms. Teschmacher. Thank you,” Lena once again dismisses Eve. After Eve disappears, Kara breathily laughs, realizing that she was caught kissing Lena Luthor.

“Now…” Lena takes a step closer to Kara, wrapping her arms around her waist. “Where were we?”
