It turned out that the next date was going to just be a regular hit, one that you had done time and time again. Thankfully, this would be prepared and done over the next weekend. You had a few days to prepare, luckily, but that didn't help too much.
"Are you sure you don't want me coming with?" Karen asked, trailing after you like a lost puppy while you tossed some clothes into a bag. You shook your head, trying to stuff a few more shirts inside.
"We don't have room up in the cabin for more than a few people, plus it's the first time I'm seeing my sister in a while," you smiled apologetically, tossing her a pair of boots to pack in the next bag. She huffed, putting them in the bottom and getting to work on helping you get some basic necessities.
"I really don't like the way you've talked about your dad, though, and usually it's your mom that goes with you, no?"
"Yeah, but she wasn't feeling good this time so dad said he would go with instead, something about us not being responsible or something," you rolled your eyes, the lies flowing off your tongue like silk. This was where you were skilled at, having a silver tongue allowed you more than a few small moments of relaxation. "Either way, we'll just be hunting squirrels, nothing too exciting," you finished. You could see her nod out of the corner of your eye.
A few dings brought your attention to her phone, and you watched her pick it up and giggle.
"Well, I have to go, Foggy is actually outside waiting for me. Something about Mrs. Cardenas having another recipe ready for us to try," you watched her walk out, staring at her phone. God, she really was going to end up getting hurt. A faint ding came from your own phone this time, and you peeked over the bed to read what it said.
D<[ You want to know what's crazy? ]
You smiled, almost smelling him again. Grabbing your phone, you dropped onto the floor and sat down.
Y<[ What? ]
D<[ We appear to live near the same place. ]
Your mouth dropped open and your eyebrows shot up, the prospect being insane to you. How could Bee live near you? There was no way that you could ever go about life and not end up finding him, especially with those shoulders and that neck.
Y<[ No way, really? ]
D<[ I didn't want to make it weird, but when you sent the address to your PO box I was surprised. ]
You smiled and bit your lip, fingers rubbing together while you thought up a response.
D<[ I thought it might've made you uncomfortable, so I didn't mention it. But it definitely is convenient considering I dropped off another gift for you. ]
Y<[ Oh my gosh, thank you!! What's in it this time?? Please, please, please tell me! I promise to act surprised when I open it ;) ]
D<[ No sweetheart, you go on and pick it up. There will be two. I'll instruct you further once you have it. ]
You squealed, shaking the phone and giggling. God, you were acting like a schoolgirl but who wouldn't? This was a fine man who was giving you gifts willingly. You got up and quickly put on some shoes, throwing on an old jersey before rushing down the steps. On your way out of the building, you missed Wesley, whose eyes were on his phone and thumbs tapping away.
D<[ I think you'll be so happy with this. Try and be alone for this one too. ]
You unlocked the box and grabbed the two items in there, the smaller one in the soft wrap went straight into your pocket before you picked up the second one and tucked it under your arm. You closed and locked it before heading back out again. You checked your phone again.
Y<[ Why should I be alone this time? What if I decide to open it now, in the middle of a park? ]
D<[ I wouldn't recommend it. ]
You felt goosebumps run down your spine at that, your eyes fluttering for a second before you snapped back into it. You checked both ways and crossed the street.
Y<[ Maybe I'll stop inside this bars bathroom and go ahead and enjoy the gift before I get home. The service is terrible in there. ]
D<[ Darling, I won't hesitate to keep a counter and allow all of your punishments to build. ]
At that you snorted, shaking your head slightly. You were already picking at the wrapping of the smaller package, and you could feel your fingers twitching with the urge to open it.
Y<[ Who says I wouldn't enjoy them? I'm sure you're all bark and no bite. ]
D<[ I bite hard, Darling. I may not bark, but I will bite. ]
You looked up and checked both ways before jogging across the street, nearly getting hit on your way across.
D<[ And count this as your final warning. I'm working right now, and somebody is keeping me distracted. ]
You looked through your photos, resting your back against a wall for a second before finding that night again. You found one of you looking disheveled, your chin barely visible but your hand still up your shirt, your panties visibly wet and the vibrator between your legs. You sent him it and turned your phone off, finally trekking the last way home.
At that, you put the packages in your room. You were still debating on opening them before there was a knock at the door. When you finally arrived, you checked the peephole and found it was covered. Your brows furrowed, you opened the door a crack before seeing Wesley standing there. He finished whatever he was doing on his phone before looking up at you.
"Are you going to invite me in?" He asked. You nodded and opened the door wider, allowing him to enter. You closed the door behind him and followed him to your living room, watching him take a look at the few photos there were of yourself with Karen and some with your friends. "Our employer asked me to ensure that you were prepared for the next job," he spoke, his back still to you. "Do you have enough ammunition to cover this?"
You nodded before stuttering out a single yes, still appalled by him standing there like he owned the place. He checked his phone. "Uh- would you want some water or something?" You finally coughed out and he turned at that, taking a seat on the loveseat right next to him. He nodded and at that you moved to the kitchen. You checked your phone and saw a message from Bee.
D<[ I expect you to be prepared to call at 9. If you aren't, I'll assume you opened the package. You won't have any fun with what I'll have planned, but alas, I need to go now. Work awaits. ]
You smiled and typed out a single wink before sending it, grabbing the cup of water in the process before going back and handing it to Wesley. You sat on the couch opposite him.
"We need to get a few things straight," straight to business, you thought. "I am your superior. You will see me as such and follow my instructions," you fought off an eye-roll. He cleared his throat, shifting a little. "For this task, we will still be working together as a pair. You do as I say, when I say. No questions asked.
"So when I tell you to take the shot, you do it. I don't care who is in the way," he stared through you, like he was threatening you to speak back. Biting your tongue, you forced a smile and nodded to him. "You will be set up on the Ivy Tower. There, you should be able to see into the building we need. There is said to be a horde of security surrounding him following what happened at the gala. We have people prepared to take care of any that are outside scoping surrounding buildings. Once those are taken down, you are estimated to have 2 minutes at most to finalize the kill.
"Our people inside will diffuse the situation as necessary. I will stand with you to ensure the kill and ensure your safety as well. We have a meeting on Ivy Tower that same night only 10 minutes prior to the planned attack, so plan accordingly," he drank some water, staring at you over the glass. You shifted, he checked his phone. A whisper of a smile spread on his lips.
"What do I need to wear?"
"Formal attire," he stood. "I need to be going now, I have business to attend to shortly. I will keep in contact should anything change," he nodded to you and made his way out of your house. The second the door closed behind him and you had it locked, you dropped onto the couch with a breath of release. Honestly, that man sucked up all the oxygen in the room, whether it was his presence or lack of soul, you couldn't tell which.
You looked at the time, it was closing in on 8. You rubbed your eyes with your hands and sat up, moving into your room and seeing the packages once more. It was so very tempting. Far too tempting to be normal. You grabbed them and put them under your bed, hoping that a shower would clear your mind enough.
It didn't, honestly, the steam just fogged your mind up further. It was closer to 9, thankfully, but you weren't sure how much longer you could hold out for. So, you did the most logical thing and called Bee.
He picked up.
"Is something wrong?" His gravelly voice asked, a few whispers of wind behind him as the sound of a window rolling up caught your attention.
You hummed, eyes growing heavy at his voice. "Nothin's wrong, just don't want to do something I'll regret," you whispered back. He hummed back and you heard a stifled chuckle from him. You frowned. "Don't laugh at me, at least I won't break any rules you put in place," you huffed. At this, he did laugh. It was warm and thick like honey, and made you giddy inside.
"I'm not laughing at you, Darling, I'm laughing for you. Trying so hard to be a good girl, huh? And for what? Show me something that's worth praising and I'll praise it, but right now all I see is a little girl who is vying for attention, isn't that right?" Your thighs clenched together and your mouth dried up fast, a whine coming out of you as you flipped onto your stomach, silencing it into the pillow.
"You're mean," you said. He hummed in response. You sat in silence for a few moments, you clearing your head of the last remains of the fogginess that usually came with him talking to you, but with him saying that it was harder than normal. A few doors closed from his end and you heard a heavy sigh before rolling back over to the phone. "Finally done with work?" You asked.
"Thankfully, I am," he responded, the sound of ice in glass reaching your ears. Bourbon, you assumed, though you weren't exactly sure what someone his age with his money would drink. You licked your lips and pulled the packages from under your bed, setting them up next to you. You stretched with a moan and lay sprawled, allowing yourself to bask in his presence for a few moments.
It seemed to be mutual, as the glass continued to clink every few moments and no sounds came from either of you. A few shifts here and there, maybe, but nothing too crazy.
"Now, I assume you didn't open the packages, so why don't we get started with that, huh Darling?"
